Get well soon Kristina! Today on the 26th of June 2018, she collided with another cyclist on a concrete training track and crashed hard, suffering a "severe spinal injury" according to first reports. She was flown out by rescue helicopter to Berlin and will be operated on soon. This is the second severe accident she had to suffer, the first was in 2009 when a car crashed into her on the street while she was riding her bike. The scars from which are visible on her face.

Vogel displayed the ferociousness of feminine power harnessed through the explosive body of a sprint cyclist. She will always be one of the greatest ever. I will miss her cycling but her insurmountable will to subjugate any and all challenges remains!
Wow this is not an easy sport. They have a strong leg to complete their race. They really did their best just to finish the race they are started. Congrats to the winner.

This is of course the much more favourable position as its shorter. At the same time you want to start the sprint as late as possible to conserv energy and as first placed need to watch your back if your opponent attacks. Much more counts into this such as slipstream advantage, highground and personal physics. In the second race the starting positions are switched.
Seems it would be smart for Vogel-who theoretically put out more energy in the first heat-to take a break and fake something broken...kind of Tonya Harding it.

Getting Women sprinting on bicycles requires they train with Men of atleast Club A-grade and it's done in 2 groups #1 Men in a lead group who set pace for the entire group #2 1 Man who rides as "demnsti" the domestique who tows the Women into sprint once on a flat after 20km of basic hills see Melbourne City Square Swanston St via Barkers Rd via Canterbury Rd then beginning of Warrigal Rd through to the Beach and "aixe team" returning via StKilda Rd to the City Square.
