Kenny and Katie Archibald secured their place as the inaugural Olympic champions in the women's Madison event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. They achieved this feat by winning 10 out of the race's 12 sprints and lapping the field with 20 laps remaining, amassing a total of 78 points, which surpassed the score of the second-placed Danish team by more than double. This victory marked a significant milestone for Laura Kenny, who became the first British woman to claim gold medals at three consecutive Olympic Games, establishing herself as the most accomplished female cyclist in Olympic history.

win a sprint , get points , gain a lap you are leading at that stage it doesnt matter how many points .. a gained lap over rides points . Two riders work as a team and swap.

This is a madison which contains teams of 2, with only one active rider allowed to race at a time for each team. A handsling marks the change of an active rider.
There are sprints every 10 laps where the top 4 across the line gain points of 5 pts - 1st, 3pts - 2nd, 2 pts - 3rd, 1 pt - 4th.
The final sprint is worth double points so 10 pts - 1st, 6 pts - 2nd, 4 pts - 3rd, 2 pts - 4th
If you lap the group containing the most riders you are given 20 Points, with each lap giving you an additional 20 Points.
Whoever has the most points at the end of the race wins
