    Its so crazy to me how different everyone's 2020 experience was. I keep hearing "we all got to have time to ourselves" but I haven't stopped working since the beginning of all of this so I never had the time to stop and reset and find intention. I have been still struggling to process and keep up with overtime and healthy home habits. You're videos help me take a minute to relax mentally while doing laundry and on my breaks

    • @Juulylie
      @Juulylie 3 роки тому +12

      Right? The pandemic and various lockdown didn't change much to me workwise. I kept working (WFH because computer based) as if nothing happened. I wish I had the time to focus more on myself, reading dozens of books like my friends. But I also know that it was hard on a lot of people, so in the end I'm lucky I guess.

      @@Juulylie I think it's a balance. I was unemployed for 13 months with incredibly limited unemployment benefits, so it's going to take years to get out of the "survival debt." Sometimes I wish I could've had steady income and full time WFH during that season, BUT the 13 months I spent working on myself and my growth will pay off for years to come :)

      Same. I'm in pharmacy, so we were thrown into an overdrive that has literally never let up. I'm so grateful that I was able to continue earning an income, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with those of us who are burnt out wishing we had better balance.

    Really been feeling the short daily resets lately! Sometimes it’s just taking a reading break, sometimes it’s a short meditation, sometimes it’s going for a little walk. Really helps recenter and come back to whatever productive tasks I’m working on feeling refreshed 😌🤙🏽

    “feelings of guilt manifest as indicators of overcompensating for something that happened in the past.” i had to replay that part a couple times LOL that’s an interesting way to rethink things. guilt has always been one of my biggest driving factors, but that’s not the way i wanna keep moving forward. i have trouble focusing on the right reasons for making good choices; i need to do better for my own growth instead of thinking of productivity as an apology.

    It just hit me that, me taking time out of my day to actively watch Rowena's video is like a form of meditation itself! Is it fair to say this? I'm just focusing on what she has to say and share, and it de-stresses me, reduces my anxiety and really encourages me~

    These resets are prettu powerful. This is what I do when I take my breaks; I fold clothes, tidy up this or that, and it really does make a good impact in my life. It also makes life a bit better for future you who will be tired from work and from possibly other issues.

    This is exactly what I’ve been needing! The small daily reset of doing the dishes before work in the morning has been wonderful! Normally as soon as I get home from work, I start on dinner. I was having a full sink (since it’s small) from the day before and needing the dishes for dinner that night. Dinner would get pushed back and I’d feel crappy. Doing them in the morning has also helped me keep up with them :))

  • @QuietWanderer

    I really needed to hear all of this! I just did a reset, but rather than something small, I ran away to the countryside. It was definitely needed. I needed to get out of my apartment and I definitely needed the fresh air but I have always felt my resets needed to be BIG. Like my routine needed to be completely overhauled rather than just trying to do smaller things to actually help me improve. So as the new week is about to begin I'm taking pointers from this video and making some lists of small resets I can start to implement each day. Here's to hoping I can stick with it😁

  • @jeannemorona_

    i never really had a decent reset ever since this year came about, mostly because of how demanding post-grad life is (shoutout to all struggling medical students here!) and how productivity is based on how well you do on exams. while watching this video, everything that happened from january up to now came into view, seeing that i never really had the chance to check in with myself (even when we were given a month of vacation). while i still think that resting makes me feel guilty (which shouldn't), i get to step out of my academic life bubble, away from the stressful thoughts of comparing myself, and just understand what's going on with me.
    i still want a day to reset, but i'll do my best to do daily resets, but i have to practice self-discipline with it (which is my main struggle for my current season). thank you for this, rowena. thank you for letting me revisit my north star and my why's ✨✨

    The timing of this video is incredible Ro. I had a mental breakdown over my assignments yesterday and I felt like my space was cluttered, I was so overwhelmed. So today, I set aside time to put my bedsheets and clothes for wash and I’m going to clear my table now before getting back to my work. Setting aside 10 minutes to tidy up makes a huge difference and sets the tone for the rest of the day. This notification popped up while I was having breakfast, loved this video 💙

    I admire you so much, Rowena! ☺️
    Ever since I found your channel 2 years ago, so much has changed in my life. I started to read the atomic habits, I took it seriously that I was taking notes and I realized that the whole time I was focusing only on my goals, and not appreciating routines, so I seriously started tracking my habits and building a system to help me reach some of my goals. For me to see if it's effective, I tried setting my goal which is to gain weight, (because I’ve been petite all my life) so I created a habit to eat breakfast every morning since this is what I’m struggling with greatly affected my health. it took a while for me to see and feel the progress but I can say that I’m reaping good benefits of it now! I gained weight, but I didn’t stop eating breakfast just because I reached my goal, it became a part of my daily routine, now I couldn't even live without it. 😌
    I still have a long way to go with some of my goals, though, and every time I fall out of track I just reset my routine and tell myself that is okay, 😂
    Ah, you greatly influenced my life, as the eldest in the family, I see you as an older sister of mine who is there to help me straighten and re-evaluate my life, haha and I'm thankful for your existence! Ily!! ✨💛

    • @rowena
      @rowena  3 роки тому +1

      with music! linked in the description 😊 I actually wrote this in the script but ultimately took it out cause the video was getting long 😵‍💫 but hope this helps:
      If this is something you’r interested in trying, as with all 5 Falun Dafa exercises, do them to the best of your ability without forcing anything whether it’s starting with 30 minutes or sitting with one leg crossed. There’s music playing for the full hour of meditation and the goal is to listen to the music without thinking about anything, moving from a state of tranquilly into a state in which the mind is completely empty, but still being aware of what you’re doing.

Having meditated on and off for over 6 years now, it’s still hard for me to fully empty my mind and reach that state of tranquilly but I will say, when I do it consistently and on the rare occasion that it happens, it’s.. such a wondrous state that’s hard to put into words. I am still, my mind is still, everything around me is still. It’s such a comfortable and comforting state to be in. A great reminder that stress and anxiety doesn’t need to be my baseline and aren’t my natural resting states. And that what most of what I’m seeking externally can all be found within.

    Have gone through the back log of your channel and it's helped during a time which I thought could of been much darker. Thank you so much for sharing your insight on the world. It's made me want to do more things that make me happy and find people that have same north star values

    i've always prefered fiction to non fiction : i find having those universal and personal truths in a well built world and in specific context helps me relate more to them and remember them better

      Ah yes. I don't have trouble brushing my teeth but the sensation puts me off. I cannot stand brushing my teeth for too long.
