    My biggest issue is the finger plucking. I usually end up muting the string as I go for the forefinger/middle finger up pluck as I make contact with string. This cancels the ring out of the previous upstroke of my thumb.
    From watching you, I've noticed this motion being more bass-like, a traditional finger pluck. I've been coming at it from a more acoustic fingerstyle approach, less percussive.
    What would you say is the best way to perfect the transition between the thumb to the fingers?

    Are you doing it with the side of your thumb or the nail?

    • @jessewormington
      @jessewormington  2 роки тому +2

      I’m using my nail, but it is the side part of my thumb/nail. Having a nail a little grown out helps make the notes clearer, but isn’t strictly necessary.

    What’s your best tip for learning the notes of the guitar?

    • @jessewormington
      @jessewormington  3 роки тому +1

      I would start with the E and A strings, because those are the root notes for most chords you’ll ever play in pop/metal/jazz songs. So, get a chart from google with all the notes on the fretboard, and play some songs you already know, and start naming the chords as you play them. After you’ve got those, I would focus on the G and B strings, because those roots are where you can really spice up your solos and make the guitar sing. Really, it’s a daily practice thing. Find all the G’s one day at the beginning of your practice, next day do all the A’s, B’s ect. Eventually you’ll know where the notes are. That takes discipline too, I’m still trying to get very cold on the fretboard as well.

    Are you fret muting when you thump? Or palm muting?

    • @jessewormington
      @jessewormington  2 роки тому +1

      Here I am fret muting, which gives it that kind of harmonic-ey sound. Just laying my 4 fingers across the fret, and if you have a little gain and move that around while you thump, you’ll get different tonalities

      Try growing out the nail a bit, and focusing the pressure more on the nail rather than the skin of your thumb.
