Matt, Thanks so much for posting this video. I too am downsizing my collection considerably and enjoy reading mostly digital for the same reasons you stated. I'm in need of a new tablet and this is exactly what I needed. Will start my research and shopping tomorrow. Perfect timing! Looking forward to the next video to drop. Ray

I have the same Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 FE as you do and I love reading comics and books on it. I do own a lot of physical comics, but recently I started to run out of space in my room. Now I can carry the tablet with me and read comics on it without worrying about damaging my physical comics and shelf space. Besides, there so many out of print comics and books (mostly collectors editions and TPB) that now cost a fortune to buy, so having ability of reading them digitally is a Godsend!

This is a really persuasive video….thank you. I am also running out of shelf space but have resisted digital for so long. Maybe it’s time, especially if I keep what I really will go back to.

That’s where I’m at now. Granted digital is not my “preferred” way of reading, but I can’t say I don’t enjoy it. And saving a lot of money in the long run.

Good video. I took it in consideration before my purchase but was able to find the Honor Pad 8 available for €200 now. It's slightly smaller (12 inch, but not as wide), but still has an excellent display. For any new viewers like me looking for a recommendation I strongly recommend looking into the Honor Pad 8.

Thanks a lot for the video, it solved many of my doubts about getting an S7 FE. I would like to ask you something about the display, though. I've seen some giuys on the web stating that the display in the S7+/8+ is much better, etc, and that the display in this S7 FE is kind of lacking especially in the blacks and the whites (some guy said the whites were kind of orange-y). But I know many people are just very perfectionists so I would love to know your opinion about the S7 FE display and its colors. Thanks a lot!

For perfect viewer app, what kind of file does the comic downloaded need to be in? Pdf, cbr, etc?
I have a few humble bundles downloaded as you mentioned ans some older downloaded series too

Hey, Matt! Great to see ya', buddy! I've been using a Samsung Android tablet(not sure of its specifics anymore, if that tells you how long I've been using it) & it still works really well. It's not as big as the one you have in your hands here(which looks sweeeet, btw!); but it gets the job done. I will probably upgrade to one like you are showing here in the somewhat near future. For now, monetary reasons must keep me chugging along w/the tablet I have. And I still do love it(for the most part). I'm like you, my man, & many others who have hit the point where I'm running out of space. I know I need to get rid of some of the books. It's just that every time I take a book off of a shelf, thinking maybe this could be one I can part with... I always find some reason to feel like I'll end up regretting it the day after I get rid of it, lol. But while you know I'm just like you in my LOVE for physical copies- the smell & feel of the pages, the craftsmanship put into some them, the gorgeous designs, etc... I've been buying some stuff(often single issues) digitally. And, all I can say is that every advantage you mentioned about digital reading is exactly how I feel about it. So, I think I will be possibly increasing my digital collection over time. I've been buying digital copies of some stuff- mostly oop or hard to find stuff. There are SOOOO MANY awesome European comics- especially in the western genre, which I LOVE, & was only able to find &/or afford digitally! A couple of great examples of some awesome westerns would be the following(in case you or someone else who might be reading this is looking for a great western). But first, it must be stated that, while the American comics publishers have put out some great western titles, with DC's past Jonah Hex comics(wish they'd bring back another Jonah Hex ongoing series, or at least start doing some Black Label miniseries! That'd be fantastic!)being right there at the top... European comics writers & artists are TO THIS DAY enthralled by "the Old West/Wild West" genre! As I said earlier, you can find some great American western comics. But the odds are that if they're not Jonah Hex comics, then they are probably comics from decades ago, or the occasional rarity(such as is the case w/"The Sixth Gun" INCREDIBLE epic series, the bite-size tasty morsels of the "Outlaw Territory" 3-vol. anthology, or the highly entertaining "Desperadoes" series of minis). My point is that the genre, while seeming to be making a bit of a comeback w/some supernatural/weird westerns such as "Canary," or "West of Sundown," which I've been thoroughly enjoying, the passion for westerns in America- be it comics, TV Series, or films- has, until recent hits like "Godless," "1883," & "The English," been left largely behind in favor of the superhero genre(among other genres). Even if you were to make a case for some excellent, somewhat recent westerns in comics... when compared to the sheer output of western titles by the Europeans far exceeds that of the U.S.A.'s. The Europeans seem to still find the "Old/Wild West" exhilarating, & it shoes in how well most of them are written- & even more in how stunningly detailed most of them are drawn! The few examples I was going to give would be: "Comanche," "Blueberry," "Durango," "Gunfighter," "Lonesome," "Tex," "Rain Wolf," "Sykes," "Texas Jack," "West Legends,"(each graphic album focuses on a legendary figure from back then) & my favorite- one of the greatest westerns I've had the pleasure of reading, & I am only on vol. 3 of 6- "Undertaker." Now some of these I've mentioned aren't available in English. Many are French or Dutch. But it isn't too much of an imposition to use a Google translation from one language to another in which you can just point your phone's camera at the dialogue, narration, etc on the screen & it immediately translates it for you! Or you can type it in if you want(this method seems to be a bit more accurate, but not by much- the scanning works pretty darn well). Regardless, I own quite a number of European-published westerns that I would not be able to have or afford if not for their being available in digital format. So, yeah, it's grown on me in that sense. Anyhow, lol, sorry for the long rant, brother, lol. Hope you guys & your families are all doing well! Great to see you, Matt!😊👍🏻👍🏻❤

Bro if you are a fan of european western comic books, check Marshal Bass by Croatian comic book legends Darko Macan and Igor Kordej published originally by Delcourt in France. Based on a real historical character Bass Reeves, first African-American deputy U.S. marshal in history. First album/volume published in 2017. , by now there's 8 albums/volumes and it's still ongoing. Enjoy!

@@markot8927 Hey, man! Thanks for the heads-up about the Bass Reeves comic! I'm a big fan of his! The real-life Lone Ranger(so many say)! He worked territories no white man would even go. He was a true lawman. He even tracked down & arrested his own son at one point. Plus, not only was he tough, & good in a fight with his fists or a gun... but, he used all manners of cons to trick the criminals & those giving them sanctuary. He was crafty & smart! Yeah, I'll definitely look for that series you mentioned! Thanks again, bro! 👍🏻

I'm looking to get a tablet for light use; reading (books and comics), streaming, browsing, etc. I'm definitely going Samsung after a lot of research looking at what else is out there, but I'm not sure on the size. 12.4" just seems massive to hold in the hand to read. Do you find this to be an issue? It's between this (or something like the S7+) or one of the 11" Samsung models for me at the moment.

I’m wanting to get back into reading comics but my eyesight is completely shot. I remember several years ago some of the comics apps would have a setting that would automatically zoom in and let each panel in order. Any apps do that now?
Also I’m more into DC and Marvel stuff before the 2000s. What would be the most inexpensive way to read those comics?

Hey Matt, completely off topic, but is that you doing narration on 60 Yard Bomb? I just had recommended and watched their Lions video (since that's my team) and was like "That voice sounds really familiar..." If so, then I'm gonna sub and comment over there also to help bump up the exposure. I wouldn't solely think that just based on similarity in voices, but I also see that Ravens chain hanging in the background, so I'm like "Maybe it is..." I know you mentioned in previous videos doing VO work for a day job as well. Maybe I'm off base and it's too personal a question, but I just thought it was cool if so.

Also, THAT'S why I didn't catch the Livestream this past weekend. Too busy watching the Big 10 Championship. Sorry guys but there was no way in hell I was gonna miss my Wolverines. I'll probably catch up on it later though. Was like "how are they gonna schedule their live on Championship Weekend?" And pretty much right at the time of the game I was looking forward to the most lol. Either way, good to see you guys getting back in the groove and looking forward to more THC!

I bought it for almost 1000 dollars but for the last 2 years I am absolutely satisfied. Besides digital comics I use it for UA-cam, browsing, Netflix, Hbo (basically i dont use my phone except for massaging and some light browsing). I forgot very quickly that it is a 12.4 inch :))
