      Thanks so much! I tried finding a similar video for my own purposes and found that no one had quite made what I was looking for so I figured I'd make it! I'm still trying to figure out the best apps to use though. Do you have any recommendations?

    Fire 10 is the best thing i bought for comics. i use Tachiyomi tho coz well i like free and how simple it is.. and it awesome, can read in one go like half a day xD Takes a while to charge but if iv been reading half a day its an welcome time off to rest eyes.
    But yeah, great recommendation. !

      I'm so glad I could be helpful to you! I'm hoping that on the next refresh of the 8 that it'll be fast enough for a more comfortable experience. I know some prefer the 8 for the additional portability, but the slowness would drive me nuts for sure.

    Great video! In terms of android tablets, I've heard good things about the CHUWI Hipad Plus which is 11" although haven't been able to get one in Canada yet.

    Ty for the video! Planning on doing ALL my reading on one device even comics and manga. I think the perfect device for me would be the Kindle Oasis if they made it fast with a color screen. Something small, ergonomic, but high quality with a good screen. Too bad the fire 8 doesn't really hit the mark. Wasn't impressed with it from what i saw in your video.. But i also am not fully sold on the 10... Maybe I should just bite the bullet and get an ipad air, then i could use it for almost everything as well as reading..

    • @ComicallyToys
      @ComicallyToys  Рік тому

      Glad the video helped! I hear what you mean about the Oasis. I've been wanting an E-Ink screen tablet for comic books too, but they are still quite a ways off from being good enough and cheap enough to be reasonable. The big reason why I like the Fire 10 is because it's really inexpensive and fast enough for my needs. $50 is cheap enough for me that I dont' need it to do more than read comics and I won't be as upset if something bad happens to it either. I'd be really upset if an iPad broke or got stolen though since they cost quite a bit more. There are definitely better tablets, but they are all quite a bit more expensive. I'm really interested in trying a tablet that is closer in size to a real comic book page.

      I have the Fire 10 and really enjoy reading comics on it. It's very easy and really gives as close of an actual comic reading feel. I am using Comixology with it and it runs very smoothly.

      So I've not been reading a ton lately(busy making UA-cam videos!) but I've done quite a bit of reading on the Fire 10 and I do like it a lot. Between display, price, and speed it really is a great tablet for comic reading. Though I'd like to test the newer Fire 8 as well to see how that holds up since it does have newer/more CPU cores so maybe it's enough to make it more usable?

    Perfect video that I have been looking for. One thing I was wondering is, how heavy is the HD 10? My old tablet was really heavy and holding it for comic reading overtime made my arms sore.

      @ComicallyToys  Рік тому +4

      Thanks I'm glad it was helpful to you! In terms of weight, Google says it weighs 432 grams. I usually read in bed or on my lap so I don't notice the weight too much myself, but it definitely feels lighter/cheaper than an iPad(which, for reference, the current model weighs 461 grams).

    Is Comixology still good still? I hear they layoff a lot of people this year.

    • @ComicallyToys
      @ComicallyToys  Рік тому

      I think there was a period where once Amazon Comixology that it was actually quite good. But as an app, it's functionality was still pretty limited in something I'd want to use. The content is really where had it's most potential and it was really good because of that, but Amazon clearly is just finding more ways to cut costs to drive profits even higher. Unfortunately a lot of my digital comics are with them(Amazon/Comixology) so those are "stuck" there for now. I doubt the Comixology app will get any better especially now with the layoffs. So to answer your question, I'd say yes it's still good as a source of legal digital comics, but I'd also say no it's not good based on app quality and of course the impact it has on the comic book community. Luckily this should mean new apps can take a shot at the top(I've heard of at least one that is growing in popularity), but we'll see how it all plays out as time goes on.

      I think until there is a good 12 inch under $150 then it's going to be REALLY hard to beat the Amazon Fire tablet, but I would LOVE to get a 12 inch tablet for comics. That's a dream!

      @@ComicallyToysYeah, it depends how much you read on it. I read on mine every day. There is a 12.7” tablet from Lenovo (Lenovo Tab P12) that sells for $300. So, the prices are getting there…

      @@ComicallyToysI read on a 12.9” Ipad Pro, that I bought when they first came out. It is perfect for both comics and magazines (with 4:3 ratio screen). I am looking at the Lenovo as a possible replacement (or travel tablet). I don’t own one yet, but I have looked at one at Best Buy. The Lenovo’s 16:10 ratio screen looks like an exact fit (or very close) for comics. Plus, you can’t beat the price. The Ipad was over $1,000 when I bought it! Honestly, though, I have definitely gotten my money’s worth out of it, over the many years I have used it.
