LOVE these old MATCH GAME episodes. I was only five years old when this episode first aired and one of my earliest childhood memories was sitting on the living room floor of my childhood home in Connecticut in front of our large CONSOLE television (people of a certain age will remember them), and eating my bowl of cereal in the morning usually Trix or Count Chocula and watching MATCH GAME. This show was a lot of fun and it was great for teaching a kid like me who liked to read about ABSTRACT thinking in terms of putting WORDS together. Great memories!!
I grew up with Family Feud, and the Price is Right in the 70s... I didn't realize there was Match Game until 20-frigging 22!!! while still keeping myself in isolation doing my best to keep from being infected with this goddam covid19!!! #MatchGameRulesInBingeWatching
@@JAWrightonline at first I didn't understand the gag I was just laughing at the panel ignoring Gene until Jack referred to the suit as a station break in Poland and Gene reacted with a glamour pose hahahahahah sure wished this episode was in a higher resolution.... #GameMatchRules
My Brother and I watched all the Match Game Shows during lunchtime in the early Summertime. Eating Lunch before we headed back out to another fun filled day of throwing rocks at each other and play with dirt, riding bikes at the river and buying soda at the 5 &10. Those were the days!!!
In case anybody is wondering why they went so nuts after she won $5,000, I checked and $5,000 in 1973 is like almost $28,000 now in 2015. I was in the Navy then and I made just a little over $4,000 for the whole year so if I had won $5,000 in one shot I'd have probably gone a little crazy too.
As awful as Gene's clown suit ensemble is (even for the early '70s) when he and the winning contestant stood next to each other, with her cherry pink and white plaid pantsuit, against the orange set - I could feel my optic nerves begin fry ...
"Looks like a station break in Poland!" THAT'S putting it mildly! YEESH!! XD Seriously though, I felt like I was dying from laughing at Gene's poor tastes in suits like the one he was wearing!!
That’s a shame for the losing contestant. Pretty sure Richard’s answer UNDERCOVER WORK was to match if she’d said something about skilled in the bedroom. Not snooping.
I was born in '92 and I still remember watching this with my mom before the 2000's when tv started getting stupid. I'd rather watch these shows than modern tv (besides Supernatural and Dr Who! ^u^) any day.
Everybody feels the same way because the people were all acting normal. Today, they’re afraid to have people act normal. They’re afraid of political correctness. God for bid, someone may insult a mannequin!
It's an interesting time warp to see an episode from the earlier days of the show, Buzzr network only shows episodes from 1978. Brett looks so different!
Of all the times I saw Match Game uploads from your channel & on the tube, I had never seen Gene wear a suit of plaid! This is the first that I seen Gene with plaid on! THIS IS FANTASTIC!!!
Gene, Gene, Gene...plaid with a polka dot tie? Not like the men of the panel are any better, though. Bert Convy killed a wild Corduroy for his jacket, and Jack Carter's shirt looks like an acid trip trying to vomit. And my answer to Mary Ellen's first question would have been "A giant plaid suit".
I call shenanigans on this lousy episode. Dawson meant LOVEMAKING when he wrote down UNDERCOVER which has absolutely NOTHING to do with snooping. SUCKING perhaps but not SNOOPING. EPIC FAIL!!
they look about as wasted as i've ever seen them, i'm thinking brett probably needs help getting down the stairs, everyone is sluggish, gene is soldiering on, jack carter about the only one with any chatter until the big win. brett never moved when everyone started running around. looked it up, it was a "last show", they used to cram 12 shows into a weekend, they look exhausted.
Pardon me, but all the episodes can't be posted. It takes a lot of time and effort. If there are select episodes that are not posted, you can always ask for a personal dvd of the entire week of episodes!
Don't remember too much of this show--little before my time--would watch it on GSN. Always thought Gene looked a little like cult leader Jim Jones...creepy.
First Super Match, part 2: CHRISTMAS Grabielle-Braden, round 1, question B: "It was a sequel to "Them!"; a giant ANT ate Los Angeles." (Bzzt!) Question A: "An old standby; DOUSE her." True. He did mean something very different than "snooping." The "undercover work" he meant was sexual in nature. Snooping has nothing to do with anything at all. It's not generous, it's a lie.
Funniest game show ever....i love match game....will see if the new one is as funny I know it won't be, but I can wish.....panel funny as h___l Y"all know that plaid suit fabric was expensive...they don't make material like that anymore.....
"Looks like a station break in Poland." My favorite line.
Fuck the asshole who said that.
@@modelprisoner Fuck YOU, dipstick, it was hilarious!

I was 10 when this aired. I have similar memories to yours. I know that console TV. This was such a fun show.
+Rusty Phresh I was young, when this show was aired.

I would do about anything to have the 70's back again
Gene's suit looks like "a station break in Poland"! LOL
I really think this is the most hysterical suit Gene EVER wore on Match Game.
His outfit is indicative of those old clothes at Goodwill that simply never sell.
I usually like his suits, but even the panel hates it.
Jack Carter: " ...looks like a station break in Poland!" LMFAO!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Was it Halloween?

yah gotta love it. its better than any supposed REALITY shows of today
My mother watched this show every day ...it just brings me back to when mom was home macking dinnner and cleaning the house
Macking cheese. (Mac n cheese) haha 😄
Fanny Flagg's outfit helped my eyes heal from Gene's suit.
By far my favorite DRESS Fannie Flagg has ever worn! She's gorgeous!!! But yeah Gene's suit is pretty crazy/WILD hahaha or my grandpa would say LOUD
Love it when this show goes off the rails
I always associate these match game series with xmas break (the only time I could watch them), hot cocoa, sledding, cold. fun.
Wish I could go back in time and be a part of the front row audience on that episode
Match Game was way before my time, but I don't care. It's still the best game ever!!!
You are wise beyond your years
I love this game.
Rip Richard Dawson 1931-2012 and missed by all of us who grew up watching the family feud back during the 1980's.
Don't forget Hogan hero's
I like what someone posted on a different video of just the opening: "Somewhere a 1973 Volkswagen is missing its seat covers." :)
Genes suit looks like a television station break in Poland. Classic!!
Jack Carter is still alive and kicking at 90...
Actually that suit is made perfectly for Herb Tarlic (WKRP in Cincinnati)
GREAT FUN SHOW!!!! REMEMBER IT WELL WHEN I WAS A HELL OF A LOT YOUNGER:)
Okay, that suit is crazy, but who else but Gene could pull it off? The man has SWAGGER!
That suit wouldn't have been too outlandish until about 1976. It was a different time and place with lots of really bold prints, plaids and symbols.
This is too hilarious!!! What was Gene Rayburn thinking at that time?!!
As awful as Gene's clown suit ensemble is (even for the early '70s) when he and the winning contestant stood next to each other, with her cherry pink and white plaid pantsuit, against the orange set - I could feel my optic nerves begin fry ...
AthenaeusGreenwood 😂😂😂😂😂
Mine too. Lol
The only thing worse than being Jack Klugman would be married to Brett Sommers. I can just imagine huge ashtrays over filled with cigarette butts.
I do love that suit. Was there a better dressed host in the 70s? And Richard Dawson's suit is equally impressive.
I love 70s clothes! I like the suits!
"Looks like a station break in Poland!" THAT'S putting it mildly! YEESH!! XD Seriously though, I felt like I was dying from laughing at Gene's poor tastes in suits like the one he was wearing!!
Dude! It's supposed to be a funny clown suit what do you mean yeesh?
That’s a shame for the losing contestant. Pretty sure Richard’s answer UNDERCOVER WORK was to match if she’d said something about skilled in the bedroom. Not snooping.
The judges took the answer literally. Snooping and undercover work are literally the same thing.
I have never seen that suit, oh my goodness that is hysterical!
Nice suit, Gene. Who shot the sofa?
HAHAHAHAHHA
+cjack21276 I think he borrowed the color scheme idea from Germany! XD

Course Brett looks older. Been 43 years since this aired and clothes were different. I was around 30 years old. Been there.
That is a hideous suit. But I love Gene Rayburn.
Wow! The combination of Gene's suite and the Contestants 'pantsuit'!! That's like a glimpse into hell!!
Yes, of course. Because the fashion today is so much more logical.
they throwing shade at Gene LMAO!

Gene's suit looks like that of a used car salesman in a really shady part of a city.
I Thought Gene's Outfit was cute and it really clashed didn't it ?
I'm sorry. This show is funny as hell. True, real spontaneous humor.
these people use to seem so old when i last seen this and now i am older than they are.kind of a weird feeling
when tv actually had good shows never heard any cursing on shows like this
Maybe the one suit that Gene is wearing maybe he got it from the station in Poland.
Where's the off switch for that suit!
That's a good question
thank you for posting I love this show

Did Gene Rayburn loose a really big bet? :p
Did he stuff and mount the sofa he shot to get that suit?
That's 70s fashion for you!
Gene never wore that suit again, but he did wear the pants from that suit several times with a Navy Blazer in future shows.
The suit jacket with black slacks would look good.
I wonder what CNR would have thought of Gene's outfit, he wore some...let's say interesting... patterns and colors on the show.
You could get kicked out of a funeral wearing that suit.
You need 3D glasses to properly view that suit!
I call shenanigans on this lousy episode. Dawson meant LOVEMAKING when he wrote down UNDERCOVER which has absolutely NOTHING to do with snooping. SUCKING perhaps but not SNOOPING. EPIC FAIL!!
Oh my gosh his suit is really bright !Elizabeth Vasquez 1😇
If he wore one solid color pants it wouldn't have been so bad. 🤷 😄 the jacket's kind of nice.
Agreed. That jacket with black slacks would look good.
I wish I had that suit. I'd bring sexy back!

Mean trick they played on Gene
I wonder if this was April fools joke when this was taken?
Man! That suite.
Sorry, I just HAD to laugh at Gene! Well, his suit anyway...😂

Well, at lest Gene and Suzie's clothes are a match!
Wow ! The clothes!
this was aired on November 2, 1973
everybody always picks richard
DenverCreations except the woman who picked Burt...🙄
that's why they added the wheel
I want a tacky plaid outfit just like Gene's, but for women. I wonder if one can be found.
Try vintage shops. I bet you can find one.
I fucking love Brett.... her raspy voice, her dry humor, her crazy laugh.... I just adore her.
Brett must have had something on Gene to stay on the show.
Is that what you wear when you play golf, Gene? ;o)
Took me a while to figure it out, but contestant Suzie reminds me of comic strip character, Sally Forth.
That is one terrible suit Gene had on,but that was the style back then,I did have those same slacks, damm.
one can assume GR wore that suit as some kind of sight gag........
Attention....here comes Gene....don't laugh
"Undercover work" matched "Snooping" ? I suppose....Ira sure was generous in that decision.
John Lang very generous, because we all know Richard meant something quite different than “snooping”
True. He did mean something very different than "snooping." The "undercover work" he meant was sexual in nature. Snooping has nothing to do with anything at all. It's not generous, it's a lie.
Gene's suit can be explained in 1973. Polyester was in...Disco hadn't even happened yet and our country was about to end it in Viet Nam...
Oh my gosh, a clown suit!
That is the ugliest suit on Gene I have ever seen . Who agrees with me . I agree with jack looks like a station break in Poland.
Undercover does NOT match snooping! How unfair!
Exactly what's wrong with the suit? It was the 70's.
Ibhenriksen it’s hideous, even in the 70’s... did you not get it that everyone else on the show with him knew how ugly is was?
This was way before the Rubin Brothers suits Gene Rayburn wore
I hate that Suzie won again because she shouldn't have won in the last episode!!!!

Why did Gene Rayburn have on a pink button-down shirt? Jack Carter broke the spell? Odd!
The tailor got a shipment of cheap couch fabric. EEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWW
Her husband looks like Ted Bundy.
Is it weird that for "Post ____" the first thing I thought of was "Post-Op Transexual"? I don't know why, but that's what came to my head.
