  • Photography composition is something I've been working really hard on recently. Today, at Namibia's Quiver Tree Forest, I got the chance to share some composition lessons with you, and learn some of my own.
    There's a difference in photography between taking a photo and making a photograph. I think a lot of that comes down to following some of the lessons in photography composition. There's a reason they are rules. And, there is a reason that most photographers follow the rules of composition when they're taking images. I think that many pro photographers don't even realize that they're following the lessons of photography composition when they're out making photos because it comes naturally to them. Much like how an artist likely doesn't think about the rules of art, good photographers just naturally draw themselves to these lessons.
    Photography composition is something that I've been working extremely hard on improving over the past year or so, and I think that following some of the lessons the world has taught me along the way have made me a better photographer.
    Today in Namibia's Quiver Tree Forest, I walk you through some of the process of photography composition that I follow.

    Composition is always hard for me as much as I love photography. I like all videos that talk about or mention this subject. So many negative comments in this video, I thought it was good.

    hey Brendan, love your work, could recommend some more channels that I may not know, I follow Peter McKinnon and Matti Haapoja, Andrew St Pierre White (just watched his Namibia trip to the Quiver trees), Ronny Dahl, and a couple of others. If you can do that it would great, cheers.

    Certainly opinions forming on premiere, but why dislike a function when you have an option to participate or not participate. I hope you stick with it when you can Brendan as I think it's a great way to connect with your community and hang out for a bit of time

    This is cool, aside from YT locking up halfway through. I have to figure out a way to avoid scrolling while the video is playing. The chat box is below the image. Anyone? We'll await the rest. Rock on!

    Brendan I urge you to watch this video ua-cam.com/video/Gz8UpKEhMQo/v-deo.html and hopefully you’ll see how the Premiere feature isn’t really good for your channel. However, the chat while watching it I think is a good idea, maybe UA-cam could just put a chat option on videos as you make them public, you could then just publish to a schedule? Then we don’t have to wait for your awesome videos 🙏

    Hello everyone. I'm sure you know but you really can't do any star photography when there's a full moon it will never come out how you think .

  • @JohnDrummondPhoto
    @JohnDrummondPhoto 6 років тому

    So ... why do they call them quiver trees? My wild guess is that they suggest (to someone) an archer's quiver stuffed with arrows. But this time I'm NOT looking it up... until tomorrow if I don't hear from you. 😉

    • @BrendanvanSon
      @BrendanvanSon  6 років тому

      Honestly, I have no idea! haha

    • @JohnDrummondPhoto
      @JohnDrummondPhoto 6 років тому +1

      @@BrendanvanSon Hah! So I learned 2 things today. It's called a quiver tree because its branches are hollow and the local people used them to make quivers for their arrows. Two, it's not really a tree. It's a succulent, related to the aloe. Which makes sense for a desert plant.
      Can't wait for your next video!

    Please stop using Premier function. It's annoying and rather useless.

    • @BrendanvanSon
      @BrendanvanSon  6 років тому +6

      Why is it useless? 30 minutes before the video goes online we can get together and chat/discuss. I don't understand the hate for this feature. I think it's brilliant.

    •  6 років тому

      @@BrendanvanSon The problem is that UA-cam is not device agnostic service and this new feature doesn't work on many platforms. For example, I usually watch UA-cam on my Android TV app which (as many other smart TV app versions) is based on a half backed web interface and has very limited functionality. It has neither comments nor proper notification support.
      Premiere notifications have totally flooded my subscription list. I don't see any real videos anymore and I have no other choice but unsubscribe the channels that use premiere funcion. Until someone in UA-cam decide to fix this mess.

    Why do not you plan a workshop so there is no full moon?
    It's easy to do
    It's anxious for people who pay you a lot of money

    • @BrendanvanSon
      @BrendanvanSon  6 років тому +1

      Because it's not a star photography trip. And, the moon is down at 2am so if they wanted we could go out and shoot stars in the morning instead. This was just a lesson, and it's easier to teach star photography when there's a bit of light from the moon.

  • @MarcinVoyager

    This is annoying. Come on man.

    • @BrendanvanSon
      @BrendanvanSon  6 років тому +7

      But why? You don't like the ability to chat before the videos start? I mean, essentially that's the only difference between Premiere and a normal video.
