Best thing about the ATS: it's getting great reviews and will hopefully be down in my price range (used) when I'm ready to buy a car in a couple of years. I'd probably go for the turbo version. After watching 20+ of your videos today, I have to say I really enjoy the laid back (very colorado) feel. You're also getting better with production quality and flow. I still think the videos could be trimmed down just a bit (I think people are looking at the 5-minute mark, but I'm sure you know better.)
Just recently purchased my 3.6 ATS performance model and I'm in love, highly recommended purchase. They are starting to come off leases now so you'll see more and more in second hand dealerships.
Brent Stewart That vehicle has 1975 Technical service bulletins,I kid you not...Plus numerous engine problems as well...Nice looking car though but I wouldn’t get this year or the 2 years after.Maybe 2017/18.
Just drove the 3.6 ATS at the dealership back to back with a 2.0t CTS and the CTS VSport...pleasantly surprised! It felt that little bit more nimble and its a lot of motor for the car. I liked it.
Probably my grandparents next vehicle. Being the fact that they like driving, and the leases on these with the 2.0 turbo is 299 a month with $2600 due at signing... pretty damn good deal for a caddy..
Love the real-world testing guys. Its a good change as opposed to reviewers just using the track to test cars where no one will EVER use their car, even if its an M5!! Thanks guys, it puts things into perspective!!
@@YouToralf I had it for 6 years, mechanically no issues but the cue system tripped twice and had to be replaced twice. I will say the cue system is the biggest fault and it is extremely frustrating
I love you guys! So great to see a happy couple who truly enjoy working together. Mi corazón está alegro. I look forward to many more comedic banter (and car reviews) in 2013. Oh, please stop locking Nathan in the trunk. Merry Christmas, Noel, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Festivus...and any others I may have missed. Cheers!
One more comment to Roman and Nathan, and to everyone confused about the 0-60 time in Denver. At 1 mile above sea level, a normally aspirated engine makes 20% less power than at sea level. Therefore the ATS is down over 60HP. This translates to approximately 1.5 second impact on the 0-60 time.
Love this Cadillac, this direction they are taking is leading them to become one of the best in the world in terms of design, power, fun, luxury and etc. I love the ATS so much that I'll even buy one used (if I have to) once I can afford it. This will be a classic car in the future for sure. The CTS saved Cadillac from death, while the ATS made it a star... lets wish for more amazing things from Cadillac. Merry Christmas guys!, and Happy New Years, like always great review!
Does the fact that the review says "Mile High Drive and Review" escape your attention? Or perhaps you missed the fact that we say and write that we are a mile above sea level in the video. Or perhaps the answer is much simpler. You simple are too uniformed about cars and engines to know what altitude does to horsepower. You might want to google it before posting such mean and stupid comments. You've been warned, next time you'll be banned from our channel.
this is a car that cadillac should be proud of. not saying that its better than the germans, but it definitely gives them a run for ze money. great car.
I know, but we are unique in doing 0 to 60 mph times in, what we call, "Real World Testing." Rarely are consumers speeding away from a traffic light with one person, no cargo and 1/4 tank of gas at sea level. Two big people in a car a mile up is a major task for the engine. If it does well in our testing, it's bound to do well for consumers worldwide.
Great review as always dudes! Just wondering if you guys will be reviewing the 2.0 turbo, with the 6 speed manual? Perhaps do a mash-up? Keep up the great work!!
turbo engines dont get affected by the altitude as much because the turbo will feed air into the engine. non-turbo engines will get affected by high altitude because of less air density/pressure
I've seen some videos where the CUE system on the ATS works smoothly no lag no problems. Maybe second batch of the cars or maybe CUE has gotten an update that has fixed bugs / improved the system ?
Frikiton Xplosion i just got a 2015 ats used with 30,000. They replaced mine with the updated version, no issues! I've not experienced anything of what ive read.works fine other than some voice commands but thats on most any car or phones voice commands
Thanks guys. As always an entertaining video review. Here is some "Christmas feedback" to Roman... Although you gave the ATS a "Buy it" rating, your only really positive comment on the car was the styling. Some additional commentary on why you gave the car a Buy rating would bring more depth and insight to the review. Ultimately isn't that the purpose of these videos? Or is it just to see if Nathan will fit?
Keep working at it. I retired my '93 Mazda MX5 at 320k miles - it was still running as strong as the day I bought it and I expect its new owner loves it still. On the other hand, my '93 Chev Suburban has 265K on the 5.7. So... what was your point exactly?
I am just really glad that american cars are stepping up their game in order to actually be respected but I think its gonna take a little time before people stop thinking of Cadillacs as "old man vehicles"
As always I enjoy your reviews. A few things I want to note...the Cue...good point about it being new and having bugs and also the touch sensitive buttons. Two, should have reviewed the 2.0T, I think it's a better engine...especially for those who want to do some aftermarket performance work to it. Three, it's nice being 5'7" in comparison to your heights. No issues fitting front or rear.
I think having 2 people in the Car 1 mile above sea level is a good thing. You know if its just you cruising in Miami you can crush 7.5 seconds to sixty. You can get the ultra quick times from Motor trend.
Do you have the 2013? It has more rear seat room. I am 6.5 and I have always considered the 3 and the A4 to be 3 seaters at best. My Celica could seat 4 more comfortably. So unfortunately if I am looking for fine German driving entertainment on a budget the Q5 or the X3 are my options. That is if I want to seat 4 from my family.
Wow that is good. I did forget about it being a mile up. Then again, where I live it's 2600 feet up. I want either a turbo or an electric car which offers the same performance regardless of altitude.
The current products which are coming out of General Motors are just a good as ANYTHING coming out of Germany or Japan. The new Cadillacs are in the top 5 now in terms of quality and safety. Not a bad spot in which to be. German cars will cost the owner up to 4 times more to repair too and almost 2 times more to insure. Cadillac now holds its value BETTER than Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, Volkswagon, and is equal with BMW. 70% of all new Cadillac ATS sales are from previous German car buyers.
definitely nicer looking than the 3 series for sure. and i agree about the cue system; i still like having physical buttons in my car. the other day i had to get something out of my dad q5 and the power lift gate wouldn't open when i pushed the button on the latch. that kind of stuff is why i'm thankful to still have a mechanical latch on my old car :).
Grate review. GM has been dogging rear seat room on almost all of its entry level cars of late. I love this car but both the A4 and the 3 have now become slightly larger cars on the inside. When they drew up the ATS it was right with the competitors in size. Now it is the Baby. Wonderful Car. Keep the "Q" please.
love the ATS and love TFL - thanks guys! I do think the CUE is a viable option in the future and a great idea but it needs to be tweaked like you mentioned.
Hello TFLC. I realize that your video is a few years old, but before the end of 2017 I am strongly considering buying a used ATS. I'm 6'3 and not concerned about back seat riders but comfort for me behind the wheel as well as getting in and out with reasonable ease. Any remembrance of how that was for you? Thanks for the video. Eric, Indiana.
cepc: I bought a ats with premium pkg and 3.6 eng. in black, a 2013 2 yrs ago and this car is awesome with the magnetic shocks, brembo brakes, electronic limited slip differential, and heads up display for 26500. it does 5,2 in 60 and I can do donuts all day long on dry pavement or drift a country road, this is one serious performance car. Also no problems mechanically at all, and I bought the car with 28000 miles on it and it now has 44000. You won't be disappointed when you remember this car sold at dealer for 50000 dollars.
I'd like to see how this pretty little Caddy does (and costs) if GM offers All-Wheel Drive for it...especially when compared to the BMW 328i xDrive or BMW 335i xDrive which have AWD & cost about $39,000 and $45,000, respectively. Mash-up material? Merry Belated Christmas, Happy New Year, enjoy your down time and thanks for making TFL CAR a can't miss & fun destination during my daily UA-cam breaks!!

Do you know what 1 miles above sea level is? 5280 feet above sea level, in other words, at higher elevations there is less oxygen, which means less power and thus will accelerate slower. At closer to sea level the ATS 3.6 does 0-60 in 5.4 seconds, which has been verified by several automotive magazines.
that's funny, because my 2002 Nissan Pathfinder started having trouble pulling away from the curb after 90k miles. at 100k miles no engine runs like new. and if you think it still does you need to get your head examined.
GM cars are becoming really good and appeal is back no doubt! But there is a probleme with GM cars, espacialy for us in Europe,if Cadillac has a lack of good image compared to Germans the main problem is that behind the wheel, you have the same interior design than in Chevy and worst, in a Opel/Vauxhal. They should change more than materials. A Passat and a Audi A4 use the same platform, but outside and inside you don't see the same thing. For PSA a Citroën DS5 and Peugeot 508 are very different
I got the Ats performance back in 2013. It ended up being the worst Ats ever built . NYS Certified lemon. I can’t list all 23 issues but the best was . Put on the heated or Air on the seats. The cue radio go full blast and I had to turn it off by turning the engine off. Try that doing 70 mph. This was coming from Mary Barra’s office. The worst. They offered me a choice of any new car or the money back plus interest. After 35 years of Cadillacs. This was my last

The CUE criticism seems like one of those "minor in review, major in daily life" dealbreakers. What do you think?
Do you know what 1 miles above sea level is? 5280 feet above sea level, in other words, at higher elevations there is less oxygen, which means less power and thus will accelerate slower. At closer to sea level the ATS 3.6 does 0-60 in 5.4 seconds, which has been verified by several automotive magazines.
Great review. Personally I am more impressed with Cadillac's work on the CTS & CTS coupe. This ATS is a step down far as styling.
The density of air is lower at altitude. Lower density = less mass of oxygen per volume of intake = less stuff to burn = lower power.
black leather is a free option. doesn't cost anything extra to get that in your car. my local cadi dealer only stocks black leather.
I would still buy the 3 series BM.
