    I just leased a 2014 turbo, very impressed. The car is light and you can feel it while accelerating and breaking. The turbo kicks in nicely, impressed my 18 year old nephew on PCH and avoided an accident with smooth breaking. The car is cheap compared to anything else in it's class, $190 less per month than a BMW and the gas mileage is great. The fuel tank is small, smaller than my Accord, but I get more miles per fill-up. The best thing about it, one doesn't see nearly as many as them as a BMW or Lexus, stands out more, I like that.

    My grandmother has a Seville (I think) and at the 80 to 100 MPH she tended to drive it was like gliding on ice. Absolutely smooth.

    It looks great in black, wow nice looking rig. I think Caddy needs to make sure the world knows that this car is built on an all new platform...a buddy of mine thought it was a Cruze upgrade which is false. This is all new rear wheel drive. Biggest positive surprise is the sub 6 second 0-60 for the mid level 4 cyl turbo.

      +ltwargssf R I drove the mustang and ATS. I bought the ATS. And the 4 cyl is better then my old '93 GT with a 5.0.

      a 93 compared to a 2016 ? No shit it drove better lmao

      I was talking performance wise. Don't knock the 4cyl till you drive it. I compared the 4 cyl Mustang to the ATS and loved the ATS. Turbos are changing the game in small cubes.

    • @Motorsportsgeek

      Il take a v8 over any shit sounding 4 cylinder. I prefer a v8 thats not being pushed over a 4 cylinder that is being boosted up to 16psi to make any good numbers. Do you know what happenens when you put 16psi on a v8? A lot. Yet you only need 6psi and your better off any 4 cylinder and it will always be more reliable because of less stress.
      Id take a v6 version of these cars over the turbo one just for reliability wise.

    • @aluisious

      @@MrCate1999 I just drove the 2.0t back to back with the 3.6. Sorry but the 4 banger is still just that, a 4 banger. It's a good 4 but it's still angry hamsters over the smooth rush of a V6.

    Cadillac is world class now. It's resale value is higher than Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, Lexus, Acura, Rolls Royce, Infiniti & is tied to first place. The resale value for the Escalade IS number one of all luxury SUVs. The new Cadillac ATS is seeing 70% of its sales coming from German car owners. The Cadillac XTS offers PREMIUM imported Italian leather on both sides of the seats, dashboard, & door panels & the ceiling is covered in Italian suede. It just knocked Lexus off the #1 spot for quality.

  • @frayydoh
    @frayydoh 11 років тому

    @PetarVN I'm 15 and I prefer Cadillac this way because it appeals to younger audiences, like us two. Cadillac never used ETC as a nameplate as I recall. If you want softer land yachts, the closest you are going to get to one is either a Lexus ES, Hyundai Azera, or even a Buick LaCrosse!

  • @ordguy

    Love it - The design, lower weight... Wish they had made the base engine turbocharged too. Something in the range of 200-220hp but with a lot more mid-range torque. Probably it would have been too expensive. As for the 3 series, the 8 speed transmission and the resulting ratio spread really helps the 0-60 time.

  • @cadrolls
    @cadrolls 11 років тому

    My 1971 Fleetwood Brogham did 0 - 60 in 7 seconds FLAT! 375 h.p and 535 pounds of torque. They floated down the highway and around corners -- all 5,300 pounds of it -- with EASE!
    The seats were like the best furniture too. They were true 14 hour highway cruisers.

  • @xAtomicTwinkiEx
    @xAtomicTwinkiEx 12 років тому

    Also I would like to point out, the 3 series looks great, but the lines of the new cadillacs are incredible, it really looks brilliant. I hope the 2014 cts carries on these lines

    Cadillac ATS offers premium imported Italian leathers whereas the German competition uses chaep plastic and even cheaper vinyl. Real wood is used compared to plastic on the German and Japanese cars too.
    Cadillac is world class now. Get used to it.

    Given the choice between flying and driving, I prefer to drive too. I used to fly down to Washington D.C. to do clothes shopping but, most everywhere else I went, I drove. My Grandparents had a 120 acre summer home in Vermont and each day, we'd get into their 1973 Chevrolet and drive for hours to different places. Stock car races each Thursday night at Thunder Road in Barre, Vermont or Catamount Statium in New Hampshire. One Uncle owned H&O Taylor Chevrolet in Wells River, Vermont. He was cool!

    Cadillac is WORLD CLASS now.

    By sport transmission do you mean the SMG? I found the automatic to be smooth and kick down quickly. Never drove a manual or SMG so I can't vouch for them but the autobox is great. Did you ever drive an E39? I heard those have the best balance. The E60 and F10 feel like 2 totally different cars other than the badge being the same.

    What a beautiful machine! I always had the stigma of Caddilacs as for old people. They were just luxery with no power but I'm so wrong with the cts-v and now this ats. Cadillacs are building stunning rides, very worthy of it's compettitions.

    AutoGuide - great work. My concerns with "Caddie" are 1. Build quality (as John pointed out below) and 2. Material quality. We won't even get into the workmanship and durability factors. Caddie has made great strides but it still has a way to go. They're not at the point where I'm ready to give up my "Ultimate Driving Machine." Great review tho.

    Honestly, I don't think any car will be better than the 3 serious b/c no one want to be the first to admit something else is. I think a few years back they compared the 3 series 4door vs the g37 4dr. The g37 beat the 3 in 9 out of ten test but they still have it to the 3 serious by a small margin

    Cadillac developed the very FIRST night time vision system but, scapped it as the customers didn't like it. As far as the rest of what you mentioned, Cadillac has had or will have it. Without American inventions, your cars would not have: Electric starters, headlights, power windows, locks, brakes, radios, A/Cs, all steel bodies or fully enclosed bodies, automatic transmissions, tinted and safety glass, and the list could go on and on and on and on!
    Cadillac for the WIN!! :)

    You must be well under 30 years old then. When I was growing up in the 1970s, everyone we knew took long trips. I still do. When I purchased my Firebird in the 1980s, I put 52,000 miles on it in 8 months. One of my friends put over 100,000 on his Crown Vic in under a year, just joy riding. I still do 600 miles in a day on ocassion so, I know about what makes a car comfortable. I used to go bar hopping in Montreal frequently. It was 396 miles each way. New York each Friday @ 110 miles each way.

    I test drove an F10 2011 528i M Sport and I wasn't too impressed. It did ride very smooth and quiet but the handling felt a bit soft and the steering felt a bit too light and lazy compared to BMWs of the past. An older E60 has that unique BMW feel to it, a firm ride without being harsh and still handling super tight, the same can't be said for the newer one.

    A little secret to keeping your leather seats nice. Baby oil. On a hot day, give them a good coating and then, a few hours later, wipe off the excess and the seats are good to go for another 6 months to a year. There is no alcohol in the baby oil so, there is nothing to dry out the leather. I use lavender scented oil.

    The XTS was needed as the flagship model for Cadillac. Every car line has a large flagship model. You should see the interior of the XTS. Every inch of it is covered in imported Italian leather. Even the ceiling is covered in premium Italian suede. The XTS has gone a step backward? It is the most technologically advanced car ever offered to the motoring public ----- regardless of price.

    Well you're correct there. I'm barely legal to drink but how is that relevant. I would love to say that I could do any of those since the sole reason I bought a 6-speed manual V8 is because I genuinely love to drive, but unfortunately the world is a different place now and that really isn't possible for the average person anymore. I also took look trips growing up, the family preferred to drive rather than fly. But as an adult my budget doesn't really permit that. Sad really.

    I never said I was a car expert. Like I said, I use to be ignorant and what I knew was mostly based on perception. I never really respected GM that much anyway, but ever since, I have learned some about cars that I didn't know before. I work in the vacuum area, but we're still required to tape up Cadillacs with the third brake light as well as Buick LaCross's and Regals. I don't make the rules, I just follow them. The vechiles are vacuumed, then they go through the wash and then ...

  • @cadrolls

    I know. The younger people have it tough because of the cost of gas. When I was your age, it was never the cost of the gas that was of any concern but, the pain of stopping to fill up. When I graduated highschool, gas was 59.9 cents a gallon. $20.00 could go a long way. My parents had it even better when they grew up in the 50s with gas at .20 - .25 cents/gallon. My Grandparents bought my Mother a Nash Metropolitan for her birthday. She said the top speed was 80 mph but, $10.00 would go all day!

    Cadillac is in the top 5 when it comes to reliability and safety. Materials? While BMW and Mercedes offer cheap plastic and vinyl as standard, Cadillac offers imported Italian leather on both sides of the seats, door panels, and dashboard. Italian suede covers every inch of the ceiling in the XTS Platinum Edition too. $1,200.00/year, on average, for insurance with the Cadillac while the insurance for the BMW will set you back $2,900.00/year as BMW's parts are up to 4 TIMES more expensive.

    Shows how little you know. Cadillac focused on keeping this car as light as possible and it only weighs about 3,400 lbs, very similar to a BMW 3-Series or an Audi A4--it may even weigh less than those two. As well the suspension on this car is the Magnetic suspension that scans the pavement thousands of time each second and reacts to imperfections to create amazing, world-class handling. And the car has powerful Brembo brakes so you're wrong there too. BOOM, how does it feel to be schooled?

    After all these years both Lexus & Cadillac are now trying to mimic the same steps as its competitors BMW, Audi & Infiniti which among all rivals are one of the most sports oriented manufacturers in the industry. Cadillac is trying to pursue a sportier image but even so, it has such a long way to go before it can even become a prime alterntative to its more established competitors like the 335i, G37 or S4.

    Ha...You must have not seen the new C63 AMG it's mad in the corners and rides like a rock even on it's softest setting... The great thing about the ATS is you can make it ride ultra soft like a big Cadillac or nice and tight for hard corners... Wait for the ATS-V which is likely to be getting some of new toys from the new C7 Corvette so it will be at least as powerful as the AMG while being about 200lbs lighter and thus faster

    Why race track? Because it's up against "The Ultimate Driving Machine" and that's not based only on what it can do on the street. Luxury car makers love to express how much of a performance vehicle their car is, and that image is what makes these entry level luxury models sell. They may not be track day cars, but it's quite simple - whichever car passes the performance test on a track wins.

    VINTAGE Cadillacs are neither "vile" nor "horrible". You apparently have never taken a 1976 Fleetwood for a 10 hour journey or you would run your present car off a cliff. In 1973, Lincoln challenged Cadillac for ride comfort. Cadillac responded in 1974, 1975, and finally, in 1976 with what many consider to be the finest riding car ever built. It was a true 14 hour cruiser whereas each passenger could actually sleep while going down the highway at 75 mph with ZERO vibration on the door arm rest.

    The new 3 series is hideous inside and out. What were they thinking? This Cadillac ATS is a very nice design. I cant wait till the ATS-V comes out and mops the floor with the competition.
