I started watching youtube videos quite some time ago because of photography videos. I awfully just found you not long ago but I must say... Your channel just became my favorite one. So concise, such a great quality, such awesome content, so fun to watch. Contragulations and thank you soooo much!
I use QDSLR Dashboard. It's an app that will control your camera's exposure and adjust it from day to night or Visa versa. It's the Holy Grail! Works great, wired or via wifi.
As mentioned, LRTimelapse is the tool for timelapses day to night. Incredible piece of software that works in the field as well as the post production.
Few tips for timelapse workflow: Download magic lantern and shoot timelapses internally, save space and money. After effect read raw sequences and open up camera to edit the whole sequence straight when you import the sequence, so you don't need to process any JPEG sequence and you can export a 10bit apple pro res file. Premier isn't a very good software when it come to fine image tuning like timelapses. Even though the blending method is convenient, the ghosting effect is too obvious. My 6D handle day to night very nicely with a bit of post deflickering. There is no sudden jump or anything, even with clouds !
Hi. I couldn't understand the transition from Aperture priority to manual. You said that when the shutter speed reaches about 1.5 seconds with ISO 600 or less, switch to manual and bump up your ISO to 2500 and shutter speed to 20 seconds. That's suddenly a huge bump in the exposure. I'm confused. Can you please explain this part. Thanks a ton.
Nice video! I wish you would have showed more of how you did the dissolve. Also...Is there a reason you use auto white balance instead of manual? Just curious, I thought everything was should be set to manual.
The state of Idaho has the 3rd lowest rate (per 100,000 people) of property crime. Tenth lowest for violent crime. It's also the 47th most exciting state behind Maine and Vermont.
So if the sun hits of is near the horizon i need to switch to ISO 1600 Aperture f/4.0 and interval 4 seconds? Correct me if i'm wrong. And then when the light is gone i need to switch to Manual? Sorry for bothering.
wonderful work i watched the whole thing from 1st minute till last, just something i wanna mention, your dissolve plugin didnt play well and i would recommend you trying to shoot the whole thing in manual or whole thing in aperture priority and yeah to get a smooth transition try LRtimelapse ... just a friendly suggestion .... nice work i love your videos by the way ...

Thanks so much! Glad you are enjoying the channel.
Mine too! My favorite channel for photography now. You can tell how passionate he is in his voice.
You should use LRTimelapse and Lightroom, way better and so much easier! Also shoot raw so put Manual WB and change it in post!
+Emeric Le Bars Someone else mentioned that as well. I haven't tried it. Thanks for the tip!
You're a good guy Jay P.

Loved the cars "light painting" the mountains.
+Matt Pilchard It was a neat effect. Thanks for watching!

+MsMoeb How do you handle the deflickering?
+Dennis Skyum there is many pluggins for after effects, RE:vision deflicker, GBDeflicker etc

+Dennis Stone Thank you for answering my question in the Q&A!
Great results! :) When your cameras are outside for that long, do you find yourself having to wipe the lens while the timelapse is in progress?
+pscully1969 No, it was dry to so moisture wasn't an issue. Thanks!
Rubber band some hand warmers to the lens to prevent condensation
Cool! What are the bright lights on the mountains?
+Squeak Code Probably cars
+Squeak Code Possibly snow grooming vehicles doing maintenance to the skiing hills.
+Niall Macpherson Yea they were snow grooming machines on Grand Targhee ski hill. When it got dark there they were.
Ah, that makes sense! I was confused if it was cars so high up a mountain. :) Thanks for replying!
Nice tutorial! Some good tips in there :)
+Gavin Ash Thanks Gavin!
Maybe keep to the 600 rule for shooting stars, That way they won't look blurred in playback.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
How do you handle the battery problem?
Good info. Thanks!

Good to know. What does that have to do with Time-lapse.
@@TheSlantedLens Nothing. I need to get out.
Why didn't you shoot wider like at f2.8 for the night shots?
+lilcleo001 : i think he shoot with 16-35mm thats f4 is minimum
Thanks
Im a bit confused here, when do you know its Day to dusk and Dusk to night?
Evening is the dusk. When there's still some light left.

Too confusing!
Most annoying thing is the way you say your name banking on name recognition. (like the pun) Just stick to your first name.
Is there any reason to speak that fast? The whole stuff is so hideous to watch and listen that becomes useless
nice
+Uros Udovicic Thanks Uros.
