Elvis grew up in poverty, his parent lost their home in Mississippi when his father went to jail for changing the amount of a check he was paid with.. Elvis and his mother moved to Memphis, and lived in the ghetto there while his father served time for that.. Most of his friends were the black children that lived in that same ghetto. He spent many hours/days singing in a black gospel church.. there is a video out there, I'll see if I can find it again, of his best friend from those days, a black gentlemen that talks about how the movie theaters were segregated and whites were on one side, blacks on the other and that he and Elvis would sit together in the middle of the isle.. Elvis always had a humble and loving heart filled with compassion and understanding because he knew what it felt like to have nothing and when he made it he felt it was only right to share it with anyone and everyone.. if only more people thought that way.

The song I sent ya if I can dream was the song he dedicated to Martin Luther King and jfk
Elvis grew upvery poor in Tupelo Ms he grew up in a mostly black community.. his dad built a 2 room shot gun shack that elvis and his parents lived in ,there was days he went with out running water or food so this song really hits home to Elvis cause he knew what it was like to be poor and that is why he had such a giving heart he would buy cars for people he didn't even know or if he hears a child was sick he'd buy them wheel chairs pay their hospital bills. He did alot with helping out charties..and buying houses for people he didn't even know..and he never asked for anything in return...

Elvis was born in a black ghetto in Mississippi during the depression. He was one of a twin his brother was stillborn. He loved gospel and went to a black church. He often did a gospel song in the middle of a rock concert, so cool. He loved his fans.. but most of all he helped many black artist get started. I lived in the 50's and white stations would not play black artists till Elvis changed that. He helped the careers of both James Brown and Jackie Wilson who were so talented. He did a lot to break the racial barriers in the 50's you need to see his early beginning "Elvis Presley and the Black Community", he has been maligned for his association with black artist, when he made this song, the racial climate in the US was bad, he fought to get the song recorded his manager thought it was to controversial. See the many people who he helped financially in "Elvis Presley King of Kindness". Thanks great job, I subbed. Be Blessed

I agree with all you stated, except, but with all respect, Elvis was not "born in a black getto". Because of the segregation no white kids were born in black communitys in that time. They lost their two room shot gun house when Elvis was three years old because they could not afford to pay back the loan. Some years later they ended up living on the edge of a black neighbourhood called the Hill. The Presley's were not prejudiced people, and Elvis was accepted by his black neighbours and had black friends.

Sorry but that was during the great depression, and you can call it what you want, there were bread lines for food, and the black section of Mississippi was a ghetto, his father went to prison for a year and he and his mom went from relative to relative till they could get a place in the black area that even blacks called the ghetto. I am 80 and you have to know the way it was in the 30' 40's and 50's, My mom said you didn't ask for money because there was no money. You traded fore what you could get. What you are referring to is 50's segregation, not 1935.@@monasrum4321

@@user-gz5xt1lj4t Yes, there is no doubt people were dirt pore. Like you also say, they moved around a lot after losing their home, and they ended up living in a predominantly black neighbourhood for a part of his childhood. He wasn't born there.

Finding a higher power during hell… I could not re-find God. So the only refuse of a power greater than myself was my childhood love for Elvis. Until I could start the steps I held onto my love for Elvis until I could find peace and trust in God again. So my emotionally aggressive attitude toward him is because he I felt in some way helped save me. I will always protect him as in my heart I somehow knew he protected me. Apologize if I sounded rude to you but believe me when I say I was s step from death . God bless and blessings for continued sobriety for us both 🙏

    I enjoyed your reaction. Thanks!
I'd suggest listening to Elvis singing "Hound Dog" on The MILTON BERLE Show. After this performance he was mainly filmed above the waist for a long. And I believe he had to tone down his dancing in coming performances, such as on the Ed Sullivan Show.
Elvis' performance on Milton's show is not the best video quality, but you get to see a 21 year old Elvis, raw, real, uninhibited, and already controlling the crowd.

I just wanted to add one more thing. I’m sorry. As you react to Elvis in the future, you’re going to find and be quite surprised that Elvis is more alive today in memorandum his fans are the most loyal devoted fans in the world and I’m not saying that because I’m one of them, the love people have for him is unexplainable, and the devotion we have we will protect him like a lion protects their cubs just a heads up, but you’ll find out that the Elvis fans are Devoted.

The only reason I chose to subscribe to your channel was because of your apology. I first saw you the other day reacting to Elvis. Well, when I heard you say that Elvis looked like he was under the influence of cocaine I thought my brain was going to explode. I was so angry with you. I think I was more angry that you didn’t research just a tad before you said some thing. That was absolutely not the case. He had a tremendous amount of health issues, and unfortunately got addicted to prescribed medication from his personal physician. Elvis was no saint, but when I heard that, I turned you off instantly. I just saw you pop up again. I don’t know why I turned you on but when I heard your apology, I respected you. I don’t know why the world is so ignorant when it comes to Elvis Presley. Everybody has an image and an idea that in reality does not exist. He was everything that everybody thought he wasn’t. And that’s a damn shame. I subscribed to your channel some suggestions if I can dream from the 68 comeback special in the white suit, jailhouse rock from the movie, jailhouse rock, bossa nova baby from the movie fun in Acapulco, do the remix. It’s longer and there’s more dancing. And bridge over troubled water from Las Vegas. I’ve been an Elvis fan for 65 years and I saw him in concert many times and I’ve been to his home in Memphis Tennessee many times . I’m not obsessed. As a little girl, I fell in love at five years old and I’ve Grown to truly appreciate what a unique, charming, humble, kind individual. he was…the true definition of a hero at least one of the references in the Webster dictionary is that a hero is a person who can change the lives of people for the better, and he changed mine for the better, so I’ll end this by saying he’s always been my hero, and he always will be ! thank you for the apology. It meant a lot.

I thank you for your interest but honestly I'm not going to tip toe around so I don't offend people, that's just not who I am. I made an observation and that's that. As far as his addiction goes, I'll give you that it wasn't cocaine but RX is no better. Oxycodone started the Heroin epidemic, addiction is addiction it doesn't matter where the drug comes from. I am a recovering alcoholic and have spent countless hours around other addicts and I can spot one when I see them. This is real experience, not crap learned from a book. I have been there and lived it. I'm sorry to burst your bubble but just because a doctor gave him the drug doesn't make it any less of a drug. I'm not blaming him, I would never blame someone for their addiction, as I know it isn't ones on fault but I think your love and aggressively emotional support of Elvis is clouding your judgment. If it were someone on meth I bet you would sing a different tune, when in reality it was a form of amphetamine (which is meth) that he first got hooked on in the Army... All I'm saying is that when I say something that I notice, I'm not just saying it... I'm saying it because I see something from life experience. In reality it's very hard to tell the difference between someone on coke and someone on most RX drugs... I was close

@@ReactingToTheFray well, I guess it takes one to no one. I’m also a recovering from addiction and alcoholism, so I’m not clouded by anybody’s judgment. Been there done that lived it spent many years in rehab been through hell and back, so I truly understand what addiction means not only the suffering but the ones that suffer around it so I don’t tiptoe about anything. I was trying to be very nice but I guess you took it the wrong way that’s what I meant don’t prejudge. I became closer to Elvis because of his suffering from addiction. Unfortunately, he didn’t survive his and I did mine but I guess you took it the wrong way I will no longer be watching your channel. I don’t appreciate your pre-judgment of me. I did not judge you. This is a great song and it reached #1. If I Can Dream is the song that was recorded during the year of MLK and RFK assassination. People will state that the song was written specifically for MLK. It was not. It was written for the end of the tv special to give a sense of hope. Two assassinations of prominent leaders, violent protests of the Vietnam War. 1968 was a bad year. Historians refer to it as “ a crack in time.”
Yeah, Elvis fans can rise up when a reactor makes casual remarks that are not based in truth. On the other hand, if you want to know fact based information on Elvis, fans are a great resource. Elvis is a musical icon for a reason, but he was not a perfect man.
I look forward to your next video.
