I ordered your new planner 2020-21 planner yesterday. I think it will be perfect for my second year of uni as I found out yesterday I passed first year. I was nervous I would fail. Overall grade was 2.2.
Imagine getting a first from Durham Uni (through COVID-19 no less), releasing a book, expanding your own business ALL by the age of 21. Your life really is something to be proud of! Can’t wait to find out what the next chapter will hold.
why is everything he says, exactly what I felt when I opened my results. SCRAPING in a pandemic is something to be HELLA proud off (i know because I did it myself)
3 yrs of "I'm Jack and I'm an English literature student at Durham University" has all lead to this and I'm 1000% sure that everyone is feeling just as happy and proud of you :) you inspire me so much, thank you for being you :)
the fact that his fav was south asian post colonial literature made me so happy!! those really are beautiful works and as a south asian I'm sure as heck overwhelmed
Regarding what you said on grades, I actually had the opposite reaction on getting my Bachelor's. I have always felt like I didn't deserve the grades I got, especially when they were very high, because I felt like I wasn't doing enough. I have huge imposter syndrome when it comes to my work, which makes it difficult to accept that I actually achieved that. I don't know, just something I wanted to share and maybe start a conversation about
Ninjaaaahh same! I’ve got a first in my first and second year but I wasn’t ever as happy as my family because I felt like I didn’t study enough to warrant the grade
I’m the same, I’m applying to medicine next year but I got into a grammar school after GCSEs and don’t feel like I deserve such high predicted grades or to get into my school I’m at
It's the same for me - I'm in Law school and consistently getting good grades but never feeling like I deserved it which is actually the most crushing feeling :(
'Not allowing myself to feel a sense of achievement because I knew I'd done better in the past' - THIS is exactly what I felt at the end of this year, despite ultimately getting the grade I had hoped for. I think the thing I found helpful to remember is that very few people are actually going to remember or analyse the individual module marks of your degree - it is often is more of a personal pride thing (though obviously that's easier said than done). The fact that you managed to get a first on top of all your other side projects is insane! Congrats, so well deserved! :)
Yay congrats! I got a 2:1 last year after thinking I was going to get a Third or a 2:2 since I got ill and had a kind of bad experience with my uni about it. But somehow I managed to get a First in my dissertation and did a lot better in the final year so got a 2:1 classification instead, which I'm really pleased with. :)
MY HEART WAS RACING SO MUCH for the first part of this video. holy shit, jack! congratulations!! what an incredible incredible achievement. i watched your a level results video when i was expecting my junior cert (irish gcse) results and i had actually stopped going to school at that stage, i was too young to drop out officially but watching you enjoy uni so much motivated me to continue school and put an ounce of work in because i wanted to go to uni too! i just finished my first year with a 1st so for what it's worth: thank you! i really owe you one ❤️
I was literally just watching your moving into Durham vlog before you uploaded this 🥺🥺 if only 18 year old jack knew 🥺 so proud!! You’re such an inspiration!! I literally didn’t even think getting straight A* was possible for me and struggled so hard with revision before I started watching you and hopefully when gcse results come out that’s what I’ll have!! You’re amazing! Thank you!! 💓💓
You guys r kinda lucky in my country they cancelled my gcse so I stopped studying then they changed their mind and said we are doing it in October/November and I haven’t studied 4 months!!!
Wow I can’t even imagine getting my final results for my entire degree. I just finished my first semester at uni and getting my results for that was sooo nerve racking. Good for you jack on doing so well 😄
Damn your reaction really made me cry, that’s amazing jack. I remember watching your first vid going to uni and now you’ve graduated with such amazing results. My A-level results are this year and I hope I get as good results as you did x
as soon as i saw the title i was like "oh he obviously got a first" but i was still feeling the nervous (terrified) energy through the screen. SO HAPPY FOR U THO!!
Just wanted to say how proud I am of you. I've been following you through all of your university journey and watching your tips for study videos so damned religiously and I'm BEYOND proud. Congrats on your result!! You inspire hundreds and thousands of people and we couldn't be more thankful. So much appreciation and love for you!!
Congratulations Jack! You're such an inspiration to me and everyone else - we all knew you were going to do amazing by how hard you've worked and your passion for English! (I can only hope my A Level results go as well :/)
I'm awaiting my results from my first year of uni on Friday, this just made me more stressed seeing how well Jack has done! But he deserves the world, a very well done on your first!! :)
Congrats Jack! I sadly didn’t do as well as I had hoped for my second year (I have to do a couple of resits) but it’s motivated me to work even harder in my final year and seeing your relief and pride just made me wanna feel that this time next year! Well done :)
You were shaking so much, so glad you did well, but then we all knew you would. Your dedication to your work on this channel is enough to show you deserve it! So happy for you.
First of all: CONGRATULATIONS!!!🥳🥳🥳 Second: this came at the very best time possible. I'm just sitting here, studying for the last two exams I will ever do in my bachelorsdegree and my mood was: screw it! No normal human can do this and end happy afterwards. Then you brought this video full of hope and optimism and joy up. Thanks! Just what I needed :) And once again, because you can't ve happy enough about your first: CONGRATULATIONS JACK!!!
Congratulations! As someone who always put a lot of pressure on myself to get good grades to the point that it really affected my mental health, I just wanted to add to what you were saying for anyone watching this who's still at school or university: You are more than your grades. Your self-worth is not determined by grades or how much work you do. Your physical and mental health is more important than your grades, and nothing is worth more than your health and happiness. Be proud of the work you do, but don't push yourself to work so much that you end up hurting yourself. Take care of yourself, ask for help if you need it, and know that whatever you achieve, even if you don't get the grades you hoped for, you will be able to survive and thrive. And don't be afraid to go to your tutors or teachers or other support staff to talk about anything you're worried about - asking for a bit of extra time or just explaining that you're struggling can be intimidating, but it can help so much. I always felt like I had to do everything 'on my own', but I've learned that that's a really unhealthy attitude. Asking for help is just another way of empowering yourself to do your best. It's like trying to do all your shopping without a basket: sure, maybe it's possible to hold everything yourself, but it's way more difficult, there's no benefit in the long run, and you might end up with way more than you can carry. Why not just get a basket? (That revelation came to me while I was on my knees trying to pick up all the stuff I'd dropped on the supermarket floor and wondering what I was doing with my life, so please, learn from my mistakes in shopping and academics :P )
Congratulations Jack on your results!! I got my final classification results on Monday and just scraped a 2:1!! I could have done better in my second year, to bump up my overall grade, but it wouldn’t have made a difference to my classification. I hope yourself and the rest of class of 2020 enjoy the celebrations!! You all deserve it!! 😊🎉
Well done Jack, so wanted to give you a hug when you looked like you were going to cry. As a postgrad all I can say is keep up with your personal projects you have lined up wether you end up doing a masters or not. You never know if/when that side huddle becomes your career. Xx
The fact that Jack did this whilst writing a book AND designing an academic planner in the middle of a global pandemic is amazing!!!! Massive congrats!
Congratulations, you deserved it so much. I've been watching your videos since you first moved into Durham university and I'm so proud of you like all of your followers are :)
I am fully crying at this🥺 You should be SO PROUD of yourself!!! We all had so much faith in you and knew you’d absolutely smash this. CONGRATULATIONS🎓 x
The part where you’re saying you hate talking about grades is so relatable. Grades are just a weird concept... I mean they can offer you important information about where you stand but sometimes you don’t feel like they represent you, even though it was actually you behind the work you’ve been graded on. Anyhow I think it’s bloody amazing that you can leave uni behind you with the feeling that you’ve learned so much and that the grades are representing that in your case (with this I mean that sometimes only certain exams or assignments or essays count for the final grade and other assignments not, while some people just do better on those assignments that don’t count officially. But again I’m glad you did so well when it mattered the most! Hope this will help you when applying for a masters!). Have a great evening celebrating Jack! Congrats again!!

I am sooo freaking happy for you - this video made me smile so much. Thanks for taking us along on the ride - it was a good one :)
