Les Paul's have that higher bite to the tone so pre-amping it and adjusting tone on the header fills in some low end without mudding the bite. Yeah he's got that down
I'm 55 now and I saw Slayer in '87 Reign in Blood tour when I was like 19. So the old guys of today were the original fans of these pioneering bands back then.
This was 15 years ago and we don’t look that old now. Most original thrash metal 1983- 84 fans are NOT over 60. I mean, I could be wrong. This guy could’ve grown up in late 60s early 70s from early sabbath era. I have friends (I haven’t seen for years) from Lancaster ca grew up Black Sabbath Alice cooper since early 70s. They moved to Fresno In 73? Twin brothers both had hair down waist. Nobody had long hair in fresrag until they came. Fresrag was small town back then. Reagan got set of drums set and Ralf’ started guitar. I remember seeing those guys around town as kid. They went to see Mahogany rush in 77 fresrag ca. Some dude dressed in leather short hair (you didn’t see that back then bands didn’t even wear full leather. Best show ever Judas Priest opening for frank Marino. (Sin after Sin tour) there’s a recording on UA-cam (only one guitar got recorded on that , I’m almost positive KK downings guitar.. Some reason glens timptons wasnt on tape?? (My friends had NO idea who Judas Priest was. They were blown away by Priest so much They started band very next day called ‘Satans crib’ which would become ‘Legend’. Legend used to play huge party’s late 70s. In y the early 80s ‘Legend’ played ‘Selland arena’ opened up for one hit wonder band called ‘Quarter flash’ .1981 Legend had the same list of songs since ‘Satans Crib’ playing old Scorpians’ (uli jon Roth) and Judas Priest covers at selland arena Nodody knew ‘legend’ was playing covers Top of Bill. People knew Lovedrive’ but didn’t know sails of Charon (incredibly stupid). Anyway during the 80s we started playing wasn’t until I befriended them. Ralf’s was first guitarist who had SAME influences uli jon Roth
Love these comments about "old man" and "grandpa"...Like Metal was "invented" 15 years ago. This dude probably grew up listening to the metal pioneers. I wonder how many people commenting actually were around to listen to Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth and the like when these bands were the "new sound in metal" and were pretty fresh on the scene themselves. I'm 40 now and still love metal. If you think metal is a phase you go through and then you "grow up", you're wrong. Think about it...what the hell else are you gonna listen to??
I know this comment is 3 years old but it still rings as true as ever. I discovered metal when I was 10. I'm 26 now, it's still metal all the way and I doubt anything will change anytime soon. When I'm old I intend on being the the old guy pissing off the neighbours with loud music and it'll still be Slayer even though they're long gone :D Stay true to yourself dude!
Shit he was probably in his teens when Black Sabbath came into the scene and pioneered the entire genre. A friend of mine from the US got me interested in Metal when I was at least age 11 or 12. Then I found some of my mother's old tapes that were smuggled into my Homeland during the Communist Era, and I was amazed at what all I found. Now I'm almost age 20 and still listening
+Ako Tai Even though I am not far behind this guy in years I had to laugh my ass off to that one. You have to admit he rocks though and hopefully you will too when you become an old fart like us!
Guarantee the 99 dislikes are probably all guitar players who are younger and jealous of his chops and awesome tone, and gear. How about the 13,920 likes ????? Over a million views. Rock on Pal Andre.
Probably.. Sometimes when i see thumbs down on a really nice vid I really wonder who "those" ppl are. But as you said, theres alot of jelaous/ignorant people out there. Keep it Pal, i'ts awesome to see you play these tunes
This song reminds me of my buddy Joe smashing his old blue VW van about as fast as it would go into San Francisco over the Golden Gate with this tape in
Pal is one of my favorite guitar players on UA-cam. He always stokes me to go pick up my own ax and get playing. You nailed the tone on this one, thats a great slayer rhythm sound. Metal till we die. \m/\m/
This is one of the best covers I’ve ever seen even though it’s not 100% like the original. I hope you keep rocking, this is some serious talent here with years of experience!
i remember watching THIS very video back in October of 2009 when i was thinking about making a comeback into guitar playing. Now i am watching it again in 2022 and i am thinking of making a comeback into playing the guitar AGAIN. Sadly i never made a comeback into guitar playing back in October of 2009. But now i think i might.
Love it man..I just turned 45 and the last 30 years went by quick..I remember when Slayer was a new band and Megadeth and Metallica and anthrax..in 20 years..this is what I will look like playing metal on my guitar...we will all be there someday...can't stop time...long live metal🤘
One of the greatest things about music is no matter how old or young you are the music you love will always be a part of you.. keep shredding brother!!!
Old, pfft. This guy is one of the original Slayer fans, probably saw them as a kid. All of the original metal founders are in their 60s now or older. Ozzy, Tom Araya, Scott Ian, Metallica, Megadeth. If they aren't old, it's cause they sadly aren't with us anymore. A guy at my church has a t-shirt that says, "I may be old but I got to see all the cool bands."
I'm 39 and been jamming this song on guitar for decades, and will be doing so when I'm 60, 70 and to the box. 25 years of playing guitar I will play when I want how I want until I die.... Shred on my friend...
+SalandFindles lol funny you say old man because if you think about how old this song is and sub from his rounded age he was probably rocking out to Stayer at 25-30 yrs old. Think about when you reach your 50's and you pull up at a stop light and this kids in the next car are like WTF that old dude is rocking out some Thrash or Death Metal lol.
Omg I would have never guessed from looking at you, that you would enjoy playing metal. That was one of the coolest videos I have ever come across on youtube. You sir, are awesome!
I'll like this for you my man. I am 54 and have been playing for 38 years and...well us old folk can still fucking jam man!!! Keep on playing man. Thumbs up!!
+Eric Lasalle They will probably be listening to some kind of heavier dubstep, one which will be considered to be the metal of their generation. I can almost foresee this.

mom...... grandpa is listening to slayer again..
+Eric Lasalle I would prefer to drink vodka from a grandfather than with you gay
+Eric Lasalle Jajaja!
omg yes but he fucking nailed it
haha. grandpa said i sucked and took my guitar to shred to slayer with :(
Hahahahahahaha fucking funny...
He holds the Guinness world record for the coolest grandpa ever.
Definitely true
Yeah Steady
totally
Fuck yeah brother! Get it!
Heh!
No one is talking about his tone here. It's tight & crunchy af.
He plays it kinda different from how I’m learning it but Amazing work. Sounds better than other versions I’ve heard
He's fucking killing it
Les Paul's have that higher bite to the tone so pre-amping it and adjusting tone on the header fills in some low end without mudding the bite. Yeah he's got that down
I love the added pinch harmonics
Marshall baby

This guy is probably the same age as the guys in Slayer.

He's the same age as tom araya
yea but all fuvking stupid kids are making fun of him
Just ignore them man
Hey, Im 48 and this is my music in my early days and still could listen to it.
Hey dude...there are always fucking stupid kids in this world...
Just.. shut up with this information! You bastard!
Why am I only seeing this now 14 years later? That tone and playing is fantastic!
That right there is a stereotype being blown to pieces.
Shaun Luxon now I just need to see a nun playing it
This is a new genre called "near death metal".
+Ako Tai shhhh don't steal people jokes.
+Gabriel Chabot That just might be the most clever comment I've ever seen on youtube. Whoever originally made it should be given a golden star.
+Ako Tai Looked for this comment. :D
+Ako Tai Even though I am not far behind this guy in years I had to laugh my ass off to that one. You have to admit he rocks though and hopefully you will too when you become an old fart like us!
+Itachi Uchiha nice stolen joke you filthy weeaboo
will you be my granpa?
That Les Paul has an amazing tone.
I totally agree, I love my custom!
Yeah... It's a Les Paul! Of course it sounds good.
@morbidcorpse You're standards for good tone must be dogshit.
Elgan Bruner lol right 😂
Tone Nazi spotted no wonder why he's named hitler
His pinch harmonics are on point
"Earl turn that shit down!!"
"Not now woman I'm rockin some goddam slayer" \m/
My wife is almost 60 and doesn't say a word when I'm rockin some Slayer!!
This the hardest rocking old dude I've ever seen
***** No shit I'm just 33 and have more grey than that.
*****
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu :/

Clearly, you didn't see Slayer before then ended. They are even older than I and I grew up in their hayday!!! :)
I'm 53 and hardly have any gray hair.
I realize this video was uploaded 14 years ago but I just stumbled onto it now. This is badass 🤘
Yeah, me too 😅. Love it!! Don't people know original Slayer fans are old AF now😂😂
Totally, toats my goats!
That drumming
this dude rocks
Never too old for SLAYER!!
It's good to know that even old people like metal to.Metal for life
your old people invented metal. \m/
the drake glad you told him lol. slayer is almost 40 yrs old
Because being old has more to do with attitude than age. It is a state of mind.
this is how most original slayer fans look today son.
Sean Amusic well said!!!!!
This is so sick! I love how he adds his own touches too. Keep thrashing man!
Who could dislike this. This old dude is rocking out
Man why you acting like metal invented 15 years ago man he almost the same age as Tom araya
I saw this guy in the pit last night in Houston...Hell Yea!!
With a bit of luck we all get to that age. And Slayer will still be enjoyed. Peace
Erik Kuether ......because Houston fuckin rocks
Erik Kuether because Houston Fuckin Rocks!
😆
Guarantee the 99 dislikes are probably all guitar players who are younger and jealous of his chops and awesome tone, and gear. How about the 13,920 likes ????? Over a million views.
Rock on Pal Andre.
Probably.. Sometimes when i see thumbs down on a really nice vid I really wonder who "those" ppl are. But as you said, theres alot of jelaous/ignorant people out there. Keep it Pal, i'ts awesome to see you play these tunes
Also those dislikes are still in there bedrooms
While pops is hitting the bricks killing it live opening up for all metal bands
Now 22k likes there
When you play from your heart instead of your hands this is what happens. Each note in this is its own song, so good!
80s as 90s metal was so awesome. The best time for music for free thinking people.
Respect to the old school performers, hats off!
why are there dislikes on this video??????????
The purists probably don't like that he's not playing an exact version.
because grandpa plays it better than those haters!
socialdef3
theres some definite interepretations of his own but for the most part yeah its probably better than a lot the 20 year olds trying it.
Comparing 15,399 likes with 125 dislikes is nothing.
*****
Yeah theres always like 99 percent likes to 1 percent dislike ratio for ANY video....except bullshit/fake videos.
This guy kicks ass
This song reminds me of my buddy Joe smashing his old blue VW van about as fast as it would go into San Francisco over the Golden Gate with this tape in
Hell yes. You rock this song! Well done, Sir. Stay metal! \m/
People need to stop acting like age has anything to do with ability. I'll be playing guitar when I'm 80 too.
wow, when this song came up, this guy would have been a teenager. He is still in love with it
Your perception of age is clearly off.
andrew vincent
so what?
Keep telling yourself that!
andrew vincent enjoy the riff... but don't tell my what to do. Criticize yourself. Don't annoy my balls, please.
Deflective much!
Excellent transfer. Your playing with feel. Fun tune, thanks./
Pal is one of my favorite guitar players on UA-cam. He always stokes me to go pick up my own ax and get playing.
You nailed the tone on this one, thats a great slayer rhythm sound.
Metal till we die.
\m/\m/
Excellent playing sir !!! Sounds perfect !!

You started listening to slayer when you were ten years old. 1983 84.. I know I was in high school
Ооочень смачно, мясисто и с большой душей🤘🤘🤘... Большой поклон вам из Сибири...
One of the greatest things about music is no matter how old or young you are the music you love will always be a part of you.. keep shredding brother!!!
Saw slayer and I’m 65 going to see Slipknot later this summer at Sacramento

Most slayer fans are not much older than 60 years. I listened slayer Metallica 83 84. I’m 58. I don’t look this old. .
Metal has no age. We feel alive with this, and you enjoy a lot. Congratulations.
When a old guy plays slayer
You know he had a childhood !
"Mom... Grandpa took away my guitar telling me "i sucked" and is now shredding to Slayer..."
Wow I hope I could be like this guy when I reach the third age. This guy is inspiring
This is just so impossibly awesome. LOVE this guy!!! Font know why i havnt subbed yet though .
Just a phase they said xd
15 years later this is still the coolest old guy known to exist.
I'm 39 and been jamming this song on guitar for decades, and will be doing so when I'm 60, 70 and to the box. 25 years of playing guitar I will play when I want how I want until I die.... Shred on my friend...
You are 47 now. Time flies.
@@rotta4667Yes it does
Hell yeah old man, rock out! This is awesome!
+SalandFindles lol funny you say old man because if you think about how old this song is and sub from his rounded age he was probably rocking out to Stayer at 25-30 yrs old. Wow, such a tight tone!! I loved it!
I’m glad this popped up in my feed. Awesome take on an awesome song. Good job brother. 🤘
Omg I would have never guessed from looking at you, that you would enjoy playing metal. That was one of the coolest videos I have ever come across on youtube. You sir, are awesome!
I'd love to see a metal band comprised of retirees starting a band for the first time as a passtime in their retirement.
rspace105 mind if i nick your idea? ill pitch it to my grandad lol
Rick Ashrok I'd be disappointed if you didn't nick my idea :)
At least itll be better than seeing late 30s to mid 40s old guys playing shitty punk music in shite dive bars trying to date 20 year old girls lol
YES! /w\SSSLLAAYYEEERRGGHH/w\
I'll like this for you my man. I am 54 and have been playing for 38 years and...well us old folk can still fucking jam man!!! Keep on playing man. Thumbs up!!
remembering seeing this video when it was 4 months out
thsi dad/grandad, is so metal! epic cover
damn dude everybody stop hating I'm 15 I got a nuff brains to know slayer is from his era so shut up and enjoy his guitar playing
No one cares how old you are dipshit
you cared enough to comment aha
Flawed logic. Anyone who uses "I'm fifteen and I" statements probably has a special snowflake complex.
true but he had a really good point
ok now you just made yourself sound extremely childish... the first comment was fine enough... but retaliating like that makes you look stupid.
this is kool, i thought i was the only grandpa playin slayer , fuckin awsome
Hope you're still shredding and happy
This is proof that metal is for all to enjoy kids.
Fuck yeah, great work man!!!
This guy is not that old.only his gray hair makes him looks so.Specially his soul is very young
+Sejo Hajdarbeg Song is near 30 years old. He could have played it for half of his life. If that is the case even better. :)
+BlazeInjun
When I say old I mean Zepp or the Beatles,Elvis ,but Slayer is very young to me and their songs are very up-to-date
Perfect example of how it's never to late to rock on! What a inspiration!!!!
LOVE IT! Grandpa thrash I wish you were mine so I could come here you play live all the time!
Grandad FUCKING ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Imagine that was your grandad - you'd be the coolest kid in school. FUCKING NAILED IT!
Nice grandpa !
From time to time ,looking at this preformance and always linking . Thanks Pal !!
EL VIEJO SAPBEEEE!!
4 years later ..... Pal Endre, How did you get into this kinda music ?
Nothing wrong with this at all !
Just asking ;)
ive seen my future...our generation will be folks in their sixties and plus listening to metal and hip hop. .kids will think our music sucks.lol
+Eric Lasalle They will probably be listening to some kind of heavier dubstep, one which will be considered to be the metal of their generation. I can almost foresee this.
+Someone - *gayer. **gayness of their generation.
Thank you for participating!
Salad Volcano lol
Im terrified now.
+Eric Lasalle I don't think so, look at it this way ever since it's inception Rock, Metal and all sub-genres that encompass them have stood the test of time despite not being the "popular" genre of music. In the 70s there was Disco, Rock and Punk prevailed. In the 80s there was New Wave and pussy Hair Metal, Rock and Real Metal prevailed. And ever since the 90s there's been an abundance of Pop Scrotums trying to push real music into obscurity, but we still outlast any pop star/group that tries to be the next big thing. Nice!! Incredible tone and harmonics
Hey, i like it! Nice! :)
how did i know the comment section was gonna be all about his age, oh yeah because UA-cam is predictable, anyway sick cover dude
WTF is up with everyone calling this guy “old man” and “grandpa”? They’re acting like metal has only been around for 15 years. This dude was probably born around 1956-1964 and became a fan of Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, Exodus, Overkill, and Testament in the 1980s when those bands were in their prime. I doubt any of those people were even ALIVE when this guy became a fan.
Wow. Never to old to enjoy some metal. Just subscribed! Awesome dude!
Fernando Henrique Cardoso.. é você?! '-'
kkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!

A new genre, called "Near Death Metal" :p
"I really shouldn't make this old joke, but I just cant resist"
Crystal clear demonstration: metal is in the soul... Great work!
It just sounds fucking thrash _\m/
If you didn't notice, this guy as about the same age as the Slayer members currently -_-

A good guitarist is someone who puts his emotion into the music, and this guy does exactly that!
This will be me one day, I promise
