- A follow up video from my initial impressions I did a few months back. It's a fantastic plugin with some really true to sound dynamics and feel. Anyone wanting the presets I made for the video they're just below under Neural DSP Presets.

Neural DSP Presets

To use the presets, find the location where your existing presets are stored and add them to your user preset folder. Not sure about PC but for Mac it's - Mac HD, Library, Audio, Presets, Neural DSP, Mesa Boogie, User
As for the Metallica IR's, find a home for them in a folder somewhere.
Open the app and go into speaker/mic setup, load one of the IR's so the plugin can learn the pathway. Close the app and when you re-open it all the presets should be there to use.
If you need to load the IR's individually then add them to the RH slot. The Harvester IR is used for Black RHY & Lead, Harvester and Seattle. Blackened IR is used for Blackened and AFJA Solo. One IR for Crunch Berry & San Diego. Orion and Puppets use Puppets IR and Shortest Straw uses that IR.
All the levels and mic values will stay the same. After you load the IR's you'll have to save the presets again.

Boss Katana Presets

To install them on your katana mkii, the easiest way is to drag the downloaded files to your desktop.
Open up the tone studio with your katana connected and go to the top right corner and click the down arrow. Locate your file and it'll bring it into your library where you can drag them across to the katana :)

Your tones are by far the best on the internet, you alone are going to make me buy an audio interface, dust off my guitars, and get these tones, so I can just jam out like a kid in my room lol.

Hey dude, really like these tones. I have a BOSS Katana MKII and love Gojira, Death, and Trivium. Do you have any patches for those? If not, when you have any extra time could you make some with those crazy ears of yours? Thanks :)

I think the sound is carried by the amazing riffs. But the Metallica sound is still absolutely amazing.
Their tones I think have always fit what they played. Ambience fx and tightness when they're needed. They just fit perfectly the simplicity element of their music.
The tone on 72 seasons and basically everything from St. Anger on has been weak to me. I don't know why they haven't kept the And Justice tones for all the albums. But it's almost unlistenable for me. I liked quite a bit of Load/Reload but after that they just lost me.
Such a scooped tone would have gotten really old without substance which the old records have
It never ceases to amaze me just how accurate your ears are! I love applying the little tips and tricks you employ in my own hunt on dialling killer tones but man I can never get as close as you do when it comes to replicating an albums tonal qualities you really do an amazing job!

I really like this plugin, I've been double tracking with the Fortin Nameless on one side and the Mesa on the other hand it sounds killer.
Man those tones have definitely massively improved since your last video about this plugin. When I'll get an interface, I think I'm going to get it too! 🤘🏻

I have been itching to get this plug-in since it was released. Just waiting for it to go on sale. I got the SLO-100 right away and it went on sale for half price a few months or so later. I love Mesa tones and this one seems to deliver in spades. You have it dialed in so perfect. Great demo.

Awesome tones yet again. What I would love to see is an updated Metal settings video using the DSL and basic pedals. More of a live thrash tone for rhythm and leads. Keep up the good work man 👍

Sounds amazing, I don''t have Neural DSP plugin, but I'm sure at some point I will. Cheers for sharing your awesome presets. I'm sure your busy with a lot of other stuff going on but a Dream Theater/Petrucci video similar to this would be awesome if you are a fan of that tone. You have a great ear for this stuff.

You've changed the game for me. Thank you for all this. I'm trying to learn all of the things I can do on a computer with my guitar on a computer. Is there any chance you could create the tone for Fuel? Thank you again sir, you are incredible and I can totally relate to getting side tracked. Amazing video as always! Setting up the presets in my plugin right now. What IR were you using on the Black Album preset? And were you just using the Puppets IR on the Orion one as well?
Thanks man, I wondered if the presets would find the pathway to the IR's. I actually used Harvester for the Black presets and Seattle. Puppets for the MOP ones. Blackened for the AJFA Lead. One IR for crunch berry and San Diego. I think that's it. All the mic values will be set, the IR's should just load in.

Arguably the best Metallica Album tone is GARAGE INC. this when they simply used there live rigs in the studio. Could you please try and capture this tone with Neural?🤔🤘 I love your videos keep up the great work.👊

If you've got AmpliTube there exists a Mesa Boogie pack for it that will give you amongst others, the Mark IV, I think it was.
You should try recreating some Lamb of God tones on that, I'd love to see the tones from Sturm Und Drang recreated; such as Anthropoid, it's a KILLER tone.
I have the original Mesa pack. If I remember correctly, you get the TA, mk4, mk5, dual rectifier, triple rectifier and a whole load of cabs including a 4x12 oversized, 2x12 and I think either a 1x15 or it might be 1x17(?) as well as 9 or 10 speaker choices, mic choices and room ambiences.
I think that the later versions specifically for Amplitube 5 come with the Mk2 range amps and that you can buy them as an add on to the original Mesa Pack.
Very cool sounds!! Knowing nothing about Neural DSP, when you're playing alone, do you listen to an actual guitar cabinet or through headphones?
I'm guessing through studio monitors, but I'm curious as well.

What are your thoughts on this plugin vs the Master Effects EQ pedals you've done videos on? I have a C+ and was looking at getting one of the pedals. These tones on the plugin are spot on tho!
Hold off for a few weeks. The original aphex eqf-2 has an exact clone coming out with all the same switching options and everything. It’s being made in pedal form to make it simple.

just quick question i downloaded the pack and everything do i just go inside the boogie folder and choose the black lead file for example and play or should i like do something else because once i do that it doesn't sound at all like the one you play

When I try out your presets, the tone is no where near how yours sounds and it sounds horrible. Do you know why that would be?
You are just amazing man. I was shocked on how close you get to some of these tones. Actually some sound way better with your presets. I just got the NDSP Messa suite and trying to make it work. I downloaded the files in my User folder and I can see them in the drop menu. However, I cannot select any of them. Every time I click it goes to default. Any advice/input will be greatly appreciated.
I’m sorry mate, if they’re in the same folder as the presets you’ve made and they don’t load then I’m clueless. I’ve never heard of that before. I’d put a query through Neural.

Any chance of you making the tone for the intro to One? Favorite Metallica song but not much of a tone chaser that likes to sit and try and dial a tone in
Something is wrong, as the tone I get is a bit too different, whatever preset I use. Basically not enough "chug" and a bit too much bass. It sounds way too "muddy".
What I did is loading the preset ans IR on the right side.
Is there anything I should do with the pedals section? Like activating the overdrive or smtg... Anything I should do on the backside of the markII?
My hambucker is a Dimebag, so I know it's normal not to sound as an EMG, but still that can't be the reason. I would really appreciate some help. Thank you very much!

Can you do a video like this where you use the Mesa boogie Neural plugin for Brad Gillis' mark2 he used on Speak of the Devil?
I think the STL tonehub version is better. It doesn't look like the amp but it sounds better. That booming bass sound comes through perfectly. If you want to take it all the way into death metal territory it has a fantastic dark sounding midrange.

I have a question. I was looking at the IR section (@3:02 is an example), and I see that the Blackened IR is on the right and the one on the left is the stock one. Do I need to make both of those Blackened? You're not doing it in your preset, but just wanted to be sure.
No I blended them both to get a more realistic tone. The IR’s on their own don’t sound good
@@LambChopper678 I've also found that the doubler thing (which only works on standalone plugin and not within the DAW) really makes the thing sound huge. Do you have experience with that?
I believe I followed all the steps, I have the presets listed in the amp section and the IR's listed in the mic/speaker section, but my tone sounds nothing like the one in the video sadly. I feel like im doing something wrong and no one I know can help me :(
I've tried the Neural dsp plugin but I can't seem to get rid of the tiniest bit of delay while playing. The tone is superb but the delay just makes it unplayable to jam out to studio albums. Could this be due to my cheap ass $50 interface that I'm using to connect my guitar to my PC? My cpu is a high end gaming cpu (AMD 7900x) so that shouldn't be the issue I think?
What happens when you go into settings on the bottom left corner and change audio buffer size to about 128 samples.
I think default is 512 samples which will cause a delay
I imported the presets (which are awesome btw) and the IR, but the tone is nowhere near yours. It doesn't have any chug. Could it be my stock "esp designed" passive pickups?
Great but in termsof sounding more like the actual records I would have loved you to show us the tones also multi tracked. I really liked the doubled lead sounds but when it comes to sounding like Metallica I feel like there's no way around muilti tracking if you want to get as close to the record as possible.

I downloaded these presets and they dont sound the same (muddy and thin is bets way to describe it) Im using a epiphone LP, is it because of the stock pickups I have in it?
