Nah, you dont need or want that for a Prerunner. On a track truck or quarter mile truck yeah, for sure. Even a touring truck intended for the highway and rural roads, but a prerunner goes through too much dust to trash a supercharger and honestly, it wouldn't take advantage out of it either cuz it is a DIY prerunner and not a trophy truck.
Glad you guys have a solid marriage with a high level of trust--getting under a moving truck with the better half at the wheel. 😊😆 Love the show and great episode as always--blessings to you and the family!
I really like how he pushes through when things don’t go as planned. I’ve taken some pointers from him when working on my 07 Silverado or kids goKarts and things aren’t going smoothly. Appreciate the channel and pass along that skill and hard work ethic to those kids.
my daily driver is a 07 Avalanche, and recently found a much cheaper front break upgrade. buy calipers / pads / rotors from a 2021+ Silverado, insert 1/8" thick washers on the caliper bolts to account for the thicker rotors - and you've upgraded from the stock 2-piston sliding caliper design, to a true 4-piston caliper with a slightly larger rotor. I looked at the Wilwood kits ... but I wasn't willing to part with that much $$$. I think all 1500 Chevy's carry that same compatibility all the way back to the 90's?!? Great upgrade for not much $$$ using OEM parts. keep up the good work my man !!!
I used blue lock tight. I learned the hard way and haven’t looked back. I used blue because eventually I know some of those bolt will need to come back out sooner or later.
Awesome! They always say, upgrade Pads, Fluid and brake Lines before anything else.. Or like me, you replace the worn out rotors and upgrade what you can with what's in stock for your vehicle. Bigger diameter doesn't always help in braking distance (because of added centrifugal forces and unsprung weight) but in the repeatability of the distances. Larger rotors help in regards to the surface area for heat, which is the major factor in brake fade/failure when your running track days on stock size rotors. Now going from a single piston to a 2-10 piston caliper will help in the clamping forces spreading that out equally on the larger rotor. But there is the point of diminishing returns.
Blue tooth hearing protection headphones when you use that grinder. It’s amazing how loud the grinder can be over time. Hearing the screams of your grandchildren driving you kids crazy will be a darn entertaining.
I know exactly what you mean with your brakes it seems like my 98 ranger stop better than my 2012 Chevy Silverado. I have thought about getting bigger rotors and brakes for my Chevy truck as well. As a side note you and your family have come a long way since your first video congratulations 👏👏👏 keep up the good work 👍👍😎😎
Awesome man! For those wanting better braking check out Mejia motor sports and fabrication they have a budget conversion and it’s meant to work with stock 16’s. Also have more spendy options as well!
Hey, were the discs installed on the correct sides? Usually with slotted brakes the slots at the top of the disc run up and back. It looked like yours were running up and forward. Awesome build. Relatively new here, but love the channel. [2011 Chevy Silverado LTZ, 5.3 L, Crewcab]
Wanted to do this upgrade on my 07 silverado but it was quite pricely(especially for a 18 year old). Decide to go with the 2020 silverado brakes instead but great to see you fullfill my dreams. :} Keep up the good work
When check breaking distance it shouldn't be done by a line on the road because you can't be consistent hitting the breaks exactly on the line. Instead, do it by stopwatch when you first hit the break, then to a stop. Also use cruise control to confirm top speed from test to test. Nice breaks 😎👍
I just installed the same brakes on my Duramax H2 and I’m not happy with them. I’m chasing a pulsing issue like a warped rotor but they aren’t warped. Wilwood told me to sand the rotors and pads and re bed. I did that and still have the same problem. Ready to put the stock brake system back on.
The FMVSS Brake Bedding Procedure is something in the realm of 300 45-0 stops before brakes are fully bedded. I'm an automotive test engineer and most of your companies like wilwood don't do the FMVSS testing because its far too expensive but having had wilwood brakes on a number of vehicles I have tested they just keep getting better until you boil the brake fluid or destroy the pad.
hey brother! great video. love the videos but hope you do some more mods that we can do on our own every day driver trucks. maybe some forced induction action would be cool? keep up the good work !
On that driver side rotors shouldn’t the slots be aiming towards the back of the truck? I got some power stop drilled and slotted rotors for my Silverado and the slots are both aiming towards the back and each rotors said the same how to have them facing.
You should do Little Shop MFGs rear drum to disc brake conversion. They have Wilwood calipers to select too (although they are smaller than your fronts). I have drum brakes i have been wanting to convert but havent seen a solid video on it for a GM truck so it would be nice to see!
Do you know what your wheel offset and backspacing is? I just bought the kit for my truck and the wheels are hitting the caliper. So trying to get an idea and what wheels I need to get
Hey man.. not trying be a know it all.. I’m pretty sure you have the rotors on the wrong sides.. they are directional. Switch passenger and driver and you will be mint
Not a fact check here, but I was interested in that so I looked - honestly thought the grooves should flow rather than hook….and you’re right, from what I found. Interestingly enough, similar to old corvettes like the C4 rims those “saw blades” grab the air in towards the brakes. You always see them backward, but I think it’s more the tire shops fault for the way they “x- pattern” or the rears strait forward/fronts cross to the rear…anyway. You’re a good man!
Do you have a vaccum bleeder that connects to a air compressor for bleeding breaks, so easy to use and very little mess and it can be done with one person
For someone like me that lives in the city, I don't need 4wd. We do have the occasional flooded street, potholes, or any small obstruction I need to get over where a lifted truck would come in handy.
@Rebel_Within I live in Texas as well. But im in Dallas. I'm on a 3/5 drop and never had a problem. Hell I was in stand still traffic and got off of interstate 20 going up a hill dropped in a 2wd trick.
@@BuiltByLondonRacing I'm from Texas as well but from Houston. During Tropical storm Harvey if it wasn't for the lift I would of been stranded like some stock height trucks that night. Granted I was stupid for going out in a storm like that but I sure am happy I had a lift even if it was just a 2WD.
You think for that kind of money all the parts would work/be inspected before they ship. That would be frustrating! Good thing you have other vehicles. Love the channel! Keep up the great work! Take care!
Lookin' good! Question - where did you get that piece that goes between the jack and the truck? I need one for my Armada now that it's too high and I'm tired of using a block of wood 😂
High Caramba Dude, Badass Chevy... Brakes takes long time to break in, how about an update brake test video after a few hundred miles of city driving idk?!😊🇺🇸
Stock brakes in good shape can stop a truck once or twice just as well or better then super car brakes. It’s the endurance and pad material that makes all the difference
I hate to be that guy but your brakes are directional and it looks like you got them switched up the vents should be rotating towards the rear of the vehicle. It's just the rotors that need to be swapped side to side.... Have fun enjoy
Maybe idk , I was just surprised to see that, painting rotors is kind of an old joke on motorbike/car forums for me so I was a bit shocked ahah I guess you gotta be extra carefull on your first few miles It looks good in the end I admit it, and having the contact surface exposed only is not a bad thing, less rust, better looks !
So not worth 2500 bucks when you can get drilled and slotted rotors. 14-18 is the same calipers. That’s the reason why 99-06 people using the 14-18 cailpers becaue they are bigger. And cheaper and will stop just the same
I’m thinking supercharger now that you added all that extra weight, and now you have extra brakes to stop extra power. Just saying 😂

It’s lifted and she went straight if she hit him it would’ve been his fault

I did a little shop mfg 15” rear brake conversion and made a huge difference
Yes...been waiting for the next video! Now it's time to work on the TB!
I know exactly what you mean with your brakes it seems like my 98 ranger stop better than my 2012 Chevy Silverado. I have thought about getting bigger rotors and brakes for my Chevy truck as well. Just found the whole set drilled and slotted with drum brakes for $364 on 1A Auto
Solid content, as always! You do it like a pro man. Love the before and after showing the results. 🤙🏻
You’re the dad we all needed as a kid.❤
Hey brother just wanted to say I really dig your energy. And editing is on hit. Keep on keeping on

Put Wildwood on the rear you will love it!😊
Ohana means family and no one gets left behind! - stitch
Love your videos and love the positivity.

That's also at a max of 150lbs of brake pedal force too.
Get a dehumidifier. That'll help. Awesome work, as always. Thanks for sharing
hey brother! great video. love the videos but hope you do some more mods that we can do on our own every day driver trucks. maybe some forced induction action would be cool? keep up the good work !
What was making the clunk noise for you?
Does anyone know what it was? I’m having the same issue.

i feel special seeing it this early
That’s what she said

They will also be more consistent over repeated braking as they rotor has a greater heat capacity before significant fade sets in…
So are you going to upgrade the back brakes
So sick! Nice work 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Nice review I just bought these myself, 👍🏻👍🏻
Have u thought about forced induction for more power ? And if so what path are u thinking
Do you know what your wheel offset and backspacing is? I just bought the kit for my truck and the wheels are hitting the caliper. So trying to get an idea and what wheels I need to get

You’re a good man!
Brakes look killer!
I know this was a year ago but, what size wheels are those that didn't clear?
2nd viewer woo-hoo. Love what you are doing on the channel
I absolutely hate the stock breaks on my 08 crewcab definitely gonna have to upgrade soon
They've just gotten better with time and break-in... I need to get the rears upgraded from drums now.
Nice. Did you had to change the master cylinder to make it work
Since you had that trouble with Wilwood, I'll go with Brembo ...
Do you have a vaccum bleeder that connects to a air compressor for bleeding breaks, so easy to use and very little mess and it can be done with one person
for 2018 silverado, what is the maximum negative offset for wheels to fit a willwood brake kit?
Check out Wildwood’s website. They have charts with detailed wheel offset requirements for each of their kits.
I have a question...whats the point in lifting a 2wd truck?
Now mind it, I not bashing just want people opinion
For someone like me that lives in the city, I don't need 4wd. We do have the occasional flooded street, potholes, or any small obstruction I need to get over where a lifted truck would come in handy.

Imagine the rears being switched out. Can’t even imagine the stopping power!
I believe you installed the disk on the wrong direction? They should be swapped to opposite sides? @LONESTARHAWAIIAN 15:00
They should perform better when they are swapped to the proper direction
That’s a sick kit buddy. I wonder if that kit will fit on my 2022 Trail Boss with stock 20” wheels ?
Hey, can I ask what oil grade do you run on your '20 Silverado? Is it 0w-20 or 5w-30?
Where did you get your steering wheel from?
Lookin' good! Question - where did you get that piece that goes between the jack and the truck? I need one for my Armada now that it's too high and I'm tired of using a block of wood 😂
High Caramba Dude, Badass Chevy... Brakes takes long time to break in, how about an update brake test video after a few hundred miles of city driving idk?!😊🇺🇸
Why didn't you just drill out the holes in the 90°s?
Love the channel. I just wish they were a little more frequent. I realize you have a real
Job but I want to see more content.
So what about when they are worn out? Do you then have to rebuy the $2400 kit?
No, just like any other brake service. Replace pads. When the rotors go, replace.
U think it's the same set for my 07 tahoe
Kind of disappointed that, when using the torque wrench, you didn't say, "Make the noise..." (Bad Obsession Motorsports)
Stock brakes in good shape can stop a truck once or twice just as well or better then super car brakes. It’s the endurance and pad material that makes all the difference
You ahould put a whipple supercharge in that thing🤪
He’s gonna need to with them 37s.
If you had a factory defect, shouldn’t the supplier have sent it to you at no charge?
Dang it I've been saying it for a year now the o.g. need a truck Norris cam kit
You gotta go diesel if you can find a 2006, 2500 Duramax
My man quoted Jeremy Clarkson from top gear
6 piston rear calipers next.
You are not ever supposed to let a brake caliper hang. You always sit it on the frame or somewhere other then let it hang. 7:59
It’s on a bungie tho
17:19 is what you came for
I'm sure those brakes are better but with different ties it's an inadequate test.
wen duramax?
I love watching your videos but I seen this one. You should of safety wire the rotors
Use Blue Loctite, you are going to regret using Red.
I hate to be that guy but your brakes are directional and it looks like you got them switched up the vents should be rotating towards the rear of the vehicle. It's just the rotors that need to be swapped side to side.... Have fun enjoy
And then the transmission takes a crap.
Or your vss craps out from heat and you go into limp mode on the highway 😔😔
Painted rotors, whaaat?
From my understanding the black on the rotors is a layer of zink
Maybe idk , I was just surprised to see that, painting rotors is kind of an old joke on motorbike/car forums for me so I was a bit shocked ahah
I guess you gotta be extra carefull on your first few miles
It looks good in the end I admit it, and having the contact surface exposed only is not a bad thing, less rust, better looks !
It’s an initial protective coating that gets removed as soon as the brakes are used the first time.
No drill? Logic says that drill and drill bit would've saved you a lot of time but hey you got this smh
So not worth 2500 bucks when you can get drilled and slotted rotors. 14-18 is the same calipers. That’s the reason why 99-06 people using the 14-18 cailpers becaue they are bigger. And cheaper and will stop just the same
better brakes on a chevy sounds like a good idea if you dont want to over heat them and die if your racing it lol.
For what those probably cost I’m not sure that’s worth the price. I’d expect a whole lot better performance
Your rotors are on the wrong side
Not really worth 2500
What mufflers do you use on your trucks?
I really wanna see this truck hitting some dirt trials with speed
