Moved to Albuquerque in '89! It was known as the War Zone then. It was a rough area, but not what it's like now. That area was prosperous around the 1950s and 1960s. But after a lot of military personnel and families moved away, those cookie-cutter homes in the neighborhoods became dilapidated and run down. It eventually attracted the lower income class. The city needs to put a serious effort into that community and its infrastructure. Lots of good people live there and deserves a better environment.
You hit San Pedro and Central after the zombies cleared out. Usually the zombies are laying all over the place, walking into traffic with garbage piled everywhere. Mayor Timmy says jobs are increasing in Albuquerque, what he didn’t say it’s security cops and fence builders who are in demand.
My grandma lived in Albuquerque since 1963 until she passed. The house was on Alamosa Road off of 4th street. She passed in 1996 and I was shocked at how the Valley has changed!! We used to walk everywhere. To the bowling alley, to my friends house close to gringos etc. I could not do that now especially at night!
That's in the north valley. Nothing is going on over there. It can get bad out here, but if you mind your business and treat people like that are people, you can walk everywhere even at night. I was a city bus driver for 7 years. I was mostly on central, South Valley, and West Gate. I treated every passenger with respect, never judging them. I never had a problem out there and if some one wanted to start a problem, my regular passengers from the area, would step up for me. I wouldn't even have to ask them, and that's beacuse of the way I treated them.
I don't know what the sidewalk comments were about on your videos but when I ride on a street that doesn't have a bike lane I will choose to ride on the sidewalk so I don't get hit by distracted drivers these days.
Love your videos dude, I lived in Abq, for a couple of years. As a native Detroiter, it's bad there, but not as bad as Detroit. Met a lot of cool people there.
What bike do you have? I'd like to know what you can get for $1,500? My wife has been wanting one but one that is off road also. We live in Magdalena NM

ABQ isn’t bad. Every city has bad areas. I saw way scarier areas than this in Houston and San Diego and Tucson and especially PHX
