I do not know of that company. The upgraded versions have custom parts you will not find from any other company. We design the prop and various other components to optimise the 1.3-2.0hp range.
Matt, What's your opinion regarding the Suzuki 2.5 hp outboard ? Is it a reliable motor ? I'm asking because here where I live, we don't have access to the little Honda motors ,but have to the Suzuki line of outboards ,costing around u$900/1100 . Thanks.
Sergio Ramirez it’s a toss up. If this is going on kayak, I would not add a traditional engine on the kayak. The lack of vertical height adjustment, prop choice, and overall customisation limits these engines. Email me and let’s try to figure out options for you. Suzuki years ago was solid, but as these engines get cheaper in quality the end result means gearbox leaks and poor performance over time. My preference is Honda on the 2.3hp. What are you trying to outfit? Maybe we can look at other Suzuki models.
trying to build this setup using a lifan- put it together and motor runs great but somedthing is making a noise when run out of water ( haven't had in water as of yet) and the prop keeps spinning when throttle is at its lowest setting (why) I see yours come to stop HELP!!
There is a small rubber grommet at the bottom of the tube that keeps the 2 pieces spaced out, RTV around the drive tube as it is lowered into the gear box to seal out the water, and a double lipped seal in the upper gearbox to keep the shaft end lubricated. This also keeps the gearbox oil out of the drive tube.
Dude, whats the total weight of your setup - i mean kayak+engine+you? Did you measure maxspeed using gps? I have the same leg and 2-stroke trimmer engine but this setup is too noisy. I use it with 2800 cm inflatable boat with removable transom but the results are not satisfying me at all - lots of noise low speed and so on (( I plan to buy GX35 engine and get rid of shitty two-stroke head, any tips and tricks from you?
Yaroslav Chagovetz I use a custom 2 blade prop with a 4 stroke Honda. 2 stroke engines are not ideal for most applications. As far as speed, it is GPS measured. This is the only way I can see improvements in max speed and trolling speeds. I get 4.6-6.5mph depending on kayak weight and draft. The prop and rotational rpm is the limiting factor on the small hp engines. It can not maintain torque without a prop change.
Bob Han these are centrifugal clutch driven, not direct drive, so no reverse. I kind of not ever needed reverse, since I use a paddle in my fishing spot.

Is there a seal between the lower unit gear case and the shaft housing?
