Did you end up having any issues with it? I have one on the way from AMAZON any advice or help that you may have on this engine would be much much obliged thank you for your videos.
1.5hp is 1.1kW. This motor looks like an off-brand Honda GX25 clone. Might be reliable if they did a good job copying it. Interesting video. Good it shows the sound level and speed it can go, even if the music quickly shat on it.
So many whiners on this thread. These motors are fine for getting from A to B in a quicker amount of time so you can fish or meet up with people on a small island, etc....or just cruising around. He still has his oar for when he gets to a fishing destination for less noise. Good motor review mate.
Loved the engine rig but afaid im not a big fan of the petrol motor (the noise and fumes) but like the rig. I have a 65lb heavy duty electric and about to add a rig. Great video buddy.
Ismael I bought mine some 3 yrs ago from MIGHTY BOY Ian Miller 165 Thorp st Motueka.Nz 7120 email: mightyboynz@gmail.com. web: www.mightyboy.co.nz I took 150 mm out of the leg so engine sat low and is behind me. Control arm is in line with my waist. Cut leg needed proper welding to reattach lower drive spline. As I was used to small 4 stroke engines ,I forgot to add oil to the crankcase. Now it needs oil rings and perhaps more after It gets pulled down. It was less than $500. Can`t remember. It`s OMC (american motor company) made in China. Ian Miller is first rate to deal with. No need for the safety cord. The throttle is spring return by loosing the screw.
weed wackers were noisy TWO strokes . This OMC 1.5 hp is a FOUR stoke. I know cos I forgot to add oil to sump. Ran for a year ok without oil. Still going but smokes. Reliable.
Bought for use trolling with my 16ft Bayliner moved the boat fine until i decided to put up on bow reached the water just enough to keep moving in calm water
I’ve made this but did you not find it ripped your rod holders out because it started to with mine am on round 3 for a better build now this one is ok but practical
You can get the motor on Amazon for a few hundred $s. If you purchase one, just make sure that you put lube in the lower unit. Many people have not and have had bad results because of such. The motor is very easy to start up.
@jack bone Jack, the tank is only about a pint but it will run at full speed for about an hour. The motor is very light and depending on the boat weight it can push the craft at a good pace.
Yep, you can pull a skier with that. Just kidding looks like 1.5 is 2-4 hundred bucks depend on brand name. I like it but don't really have a need for it. I usually fish small lakes and ponds
Spiros Kardianos I’m not sure of its top speed, it’s two stroke so probably a bit more mainstence and it’s a cheaper quality engine, better to get a Honda engine
Just bought this engine been out once, the revs appear to keep on high, when you change from low to high it’s the same. I used the primer and chalk to slow it down as it was still on high revs, anybody else have the same problems
You have the ability to adjust both the depth as well as the tilt. one issue I had with mine was that you may need to get a 2 by 4 wood block as the transom clamp is designed for a thick transom. At least that was my experience. My inflatable had a 1 inch transom and I needed a small wood block to accommodate the expected thickness..
Hi, just purchased one took out once, very big lean, also I noted the hi and low throttle, mine just appeared to go the same speed, it didn’t change when I went from low to high, does it do that until it’s warmed up properly. It just shot off when I started the engine, the only way I could control was through the primer.
i couldnt see how it was supposed to work till the end. bit disappointing really. nothing the flyboat motors from Thailand. thats what i want real s p e e e e e d ! w h e e e e e e e e e e !
It's about a necessity, not a speed. Saves you paddling on a hot day. 10-12 km/hour is all you can get out of a setup like this. Riding faster and without outriggers will be a suicide. On my canoe with 2.5 HP motor (transom mounted) I can't open throttle more than 1/3, the bow is riding too high, with me seated midship, long tiller extension.
you need a better kayak. Flat bottom so it plans on the water would make a very big differnece. Nice to see thouh. Hate all the electric shit and that engine was small enough to carry. Where did you get it from? Shorten the rigg so the propeller is about 2 inches under the kayakbottom and put the engine at the back aned of the kayak. Then you could put the gas to the feet and steer with your paddle or a rodder.
It's at his shoulders. A bit high to raise the hand to pull the rope while sitting, but doable. I am more concerned about stability with 12kg off the side, and motor head that high.
Is it noisy? I’m working on an electric brushless setup for a rudder. Here’s a little preview if you’re interested. ua-cam.com/video/zCO_1iF3L_c/v-deo.html
Was really keen to gauge noise levels, but the shit music killed that!
He starts the engine and music comes out . . . I instantly hate the thing !!!
Hey nice work. Would you mind showing how to made your motor mount?
Nice one mate. I'll be building my 2.8m fishing kayak soon with a 92cc 2stroker from a posthole digging and be a long shaft Taiwanese ski lol
Prop looked very close to kayak, any problems turning
The best I have seen so far - Thanks
Engine weight?? Look like balance kayak on the water ia ok on the water
Hay mate great vid,I just got one but took it out today and the throttle got stuck anyway you would know to fix
How did you fit your kill switch to the petrol motor please Frank
Did you end up having any issues with it? I have one on the way from AMAZON any advice or help that you may have on this engine would be much much obliged thank you for your videos.
There are so many questions here, which you have not responded to. What good is your video?
Is it easy to mount the motor? How did you do it?
is that a custom mount setup? any tutorials available for something like that?

How did you mount it
Have you tried a electric if so witch one do you prefer
Hey love your build what's the top speed

hi , i got the same engine same mount but seems to be a bit unstable
does the control arm adjust up or down ? i want to clamp it to my 7 metre as an emergency back up ..It looks rigid ..neil
It would be good to see your SOG so anyone do one of these vids with a gps
Can u out it lowered like can u adjust it
just getting one now. looks alright! to push a 2.5x1.2 m homemade boat
How far can you get with the small tank before you add more gas?
He did state he hadn't done a range test. It also runs on petrol, not gas.
It's been 5yrs you would figure he did some kinda test. I'm American so petrol is gas to us.
@@addictedjr3553 And school shootings are a national sport, doesn't make it right. Petrol is a liquid, not gas.

How much and where can I get one?
How many horse powers do we need for 50 kg polietilen boat?
great video :) i have a small battery trolling motor that suits me for what i do. i made a video on my kayak mods too. well done
same mate I have both 20lbs haswing and one of these petrol motors
@@michealthomas3042 So, whats your verdict? Which one do you use more and why? Would you mind me asking?

can you make a tutorial on how to make that one?
Do you need to register your kayak for this?
No
counterweight...... you mean mount another motor???
lmao!!!
You can put one leg out on the other side of the motor and it will counterbalance. :P
Don't worry about that sweetie, men can figure it out.
where did you get the mount?
That’s awesome mate, was it a hard thing to do?
Is there any way to quiet it down it all?
Electric
Just wondering if you have run the motor without the rudder being used,if you have what was it like trying to steer.
It steers like any outboard via tiller arm. It swivels up for paddling.
Dude we came here to see what it is like but right at the main bit you put music over the sound of it?
sneaking up stealth mode
Need to get myself one of them 👍👍
Top speed?
cool - is it reliable?
Did you have to get the kayak certify with the DMV to Add a motor.
I wouldnt think you have to with this, but I've been to lakes and parks where they specify no gas motors on small vessels at all. Electric only.
Nice setup. Just maybe the noise next to my ear and if the motor can get rained on.
The motor can get rained on or washed with fresh water just don’t wash it when the engines hot
Always haters. Go stick your head next to a whipper Snipper if you need to hear one haha
Heya where did you get the motor mount? I just bought one and it fucked my other mount up and yep it was for an electric motor but any way ???
where do you buy and how much cost to you.thanks for the video

how heavy the motor is
About 18kilo
Its not Made by dragon Kayak. Different brands buy this and put just their own stickers and stuff on it
Nice video, i would like to know how fast is it and if the weight of the engine have the kayak less estability. Thanks
Kayak leans a little. Moving slightly to opposite side in seat fixes that.
Lo ideal es agregar al kayak flotadores en ambos lados para darle estabilidad y seguridad.
It's funny how every one of these videos has music over the actual test parts. Why is everyone so insecure about the sound of the motor?
Because this motor is SUUUUPER loud. Like a weed eater at full throttle right next to your head loud
Lol it is wee eater
What type of kayak do u have
Bought for use trolling with my 16ft Bayliner moved the boat fine until i decided to put up on bow reached the water just enough to keep moving in calm water

hello , this engine work ? after 2 year work great? please answer me.
the vertical shaft is a terrible idea
matthew lee got a better idea?
What is the speed on full throttle? I have one with a plastic prop and it can only do 8km/hr. Also, a full tank of 650ml lasts for around 4-5km.
I have one used on an inflatable, inflatables have more drag in the water, and it will run around 5 to 6 miles per hour at full throttle.
@jack bone Jack, the tank is only about a pint but it will run at full speed for about an hour. The motor is very light and depending on the boat weight it can push the craft at a good pace.

Look for an idle adjustment screw on the carburetor too back out a little bit maybe? I don't know if it would have one since its such a small engine.
Could be an air leak too have a look around the carb gaskets

you should put an Expandacraft outrigger on that thing before you roll it over and loose your gear.
