    This is part three in our series where we go through a complete bottom end engine rebuild on a roached out 2005 Honda CRF450R. The third and final part of this process involves reassembling the complete engine, which is detailed here in this video. The steps shown here will be very similar for 2002 to 2008 Honda CRF450's.

    When they put the transmission together and add the crank then put the cases together just to flip it over and separate the cases again. My question is did they do this so you would ruin the crank bearing, there's no reason to add the crank till the last time you split it. Not only that but if they put the transmission together in the left crankcase there would be no reason to have to flip it over and risk your crank and transmission seals. 1 more question. I've noticed all the different videos do it the same way, is this due to A. All the companies got together and decided this was a good way to make money off the sale of seals and gasket. B. Everyone is retarted. C. Everyone is retarted?

    Good afternoon The video at 6:22 shows the wear of half of the crankcase where the oil pump is installed. Is it necessary to repair the crankcase in this case? Could this defect be the result of a decrease in pressure in the lubrication system?

    Hey got a problem with the transmission not shifting. The shift drum is fine but some of the dogs on the fixed gear are worn all on one side can that cause the transmission to not shift

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  2 роки тому

      Hmm...does it happen in every gear? Is the clutch basket and hub notched? I'm assuming you already inspected the shifting mechanism. ...Rounded dogs will usually cause it to jump out of gear. Definitely get any with damage replaced. If it did jump out of gear, it could have bent some things. Check the shift forks and shafts. Let us know what you find. -Charles

    Pro Tip: Put your new main bearings in the freezer overnight, and then heat up the cases a little bit as shown here. The bearing will actually drop right into the hole, and you can feel (and hear) it tighten up in place. No driver needed, and you NEVER have to hit anything and risk a mistake / ruined bearing. This is the way the pros do it.

    • @goodbyemr.anderson5065
      @goodbyemr.anderson5065 Рік тому

      pro tip, doesn't work every time. I've rebuilt 100s of crf450s and even in the same year tolerances very slightly, some drop right in, some need a little massage. Also in his videos he says to freeze bearings, and heat case, so im wondering if you even watched the video?

    • @VitruviunMan

    Hey Charles!, rebuilt my 2005 just like you did.... I have a problem..... Mine will not start. I'm thinking it is the stator. compression test is 6% leaking at rings. timing is perfect. bike started once at high idle with choke on of course. turn the choke off.... bike sounds like its flooded with fuel which causes it to die. ever since bike will just backfire through the carburetor. Brand new OEM head and valves along with cylinder a piston. basically a brand new bike that wont start. do you think its wiring?? none of the wires seem cut or burnt, although the stator looks funny but I have a good spark when testing. any suggestions would help
