Not to take away from the game, it has promise but too early to tell yet, but that said, shooting out lights has been a thing for over 30 years in video games as have climbing and bashing in doors. @@Jhakaro yeah but most open world rpgs dont have this mechanic. it just makes the world feel more alive and reactive. of course stealth focused linear games like thief are gonna have light-snuffing mechanics
@@Jhakaro yea it's less about whether or not it's a "new thing" and more about those things being included. As much of a skyrim fanboy as i am, it lacks environmental interaction immensely. Things like dousing light sources or setting fields of grass aflame would have made the game feel more interactive yet we don't have that. This stands for most other open world games that only include minor set pieces like a couple hinges you can shoot with a bow to lower a draw bridge or some such. Wayward realms definitely seems to lack. Polish to me personally, animations and combat don't seem particularly thrilling but i have no reason to hate on the game. Looking forward to the "Elder Scrolls killer" comments from people though.
It's important to be able to have long-term goals we can work up to by doing these quests, beyond just putzing around in a sandbox. Things like raising a minor lord to emperor, or building our own house up to a palace, or helping one country conquer another.

i just read the kickstarter, and just realized if it were possible figuring out how to plug the VGM with nvidia's AI npc's and maybe hard coding major npc's like kings or faction leaders (program their personality and when they want to do something of their own accord the VGM could green light it or not) or having npc's we've met get green lighted for nvidia ai by the VGM so then they get their personality and you can quite literally talk with them via mic or typing. say like i want to charm them, id click the button for charm then talk my crap. and then get a natural response back, would bring incredible immersion.

Got put onto this by a Daggerfall review. I really hope this happens. It doesnt need to be perfect, just consistent. Adventure, exploration and creating your own story, who doesnt want that.
One thing i would love to see, if anyone is reading this, is quest leading to other quests, ... quests within quests. I find in rpg:s many times the quests are to linear and simple, go fetch this thing, well done, here is your gold. Why not let one thing lead to another, you stumble on someone imprisoned in that dungeon, now you can choose to engage in a quest of helping him, now you discover a whole new faction as a result and he invites you to join, now he offers you a new quest, where you stumble upon yet another possible, or many different possible quests and options. This is after all how real life works.

Not to take away from the game, it has promise but too early to tell yet, but that said, shooting out lights has been a thing for over 30 years in video games as have climbing and bashing in doors. I'm all for people getting excited about new games but I find it silly when people go so overhype mode that they languish praise onto super basic things that have existed since the eighties in some cases and at least the nineties.
@@JhakaroThey weren't saying it's new
Yes! Climbing! Such a small thing, but I love when it's an included feature!

@@AuraAian true evil.
The fact that the gameplay looks rough tells me this is going to go so hard as an rpg.
Exactly, these kids don't get it
It's important to be able to have long-term goals we can work up to by doing these quests, beyond just putzing around in a sandbox. Things like raising a minor lord to emperor, or building our own house up to a palace, or helping one country conquer another.
Holy…
Now this is a surprise drop if I’ve ever seen one.
A gameplay trailer right after the Kickstarter opened?
You guys are crazy!
"Crazy." Nah, I'd think it's marketing 101 to have something new to show off when you launch crowd funding
You thought they'd do nothing to get excitement going for their kickstarter? 🙃
Not a surprise, they announced it before the kickstarter started. But, I guess it's a surprise to those who know nothing... jon snow.
Calm yourself, this is a good community don't ruin it, be welcoming. @tyller77189
@@seb_pt Wow calm down, it was just a game of thrones reference and a correction about misinformation. Thanks for being so "Welcoming"
Already did a pledge to support this project. I'm very interested to see what you guys make and hoping it turns out well for all of you. I recently started playing daggerfall and I fell in love with it immediately. The amount of details and cool rpg mechanics was very ambitious for its time. And this being a mordern daggerfall has my immediate attention and money.
Im so happy you guys are getting a lot of support on kickstarter. Keep up the good work!
Looks like a game developed by people who play games instead of people who play gamers.
You mean it's developed by competent, talented folks that aren't afraid to make a deep, rewarding, systems-rich game for people wanting a truly deep game experience? We went away from this in the mid 00s, FINALLY first person RPGs get their deep CRPG...
Come back and tell me this when it releases
@@legitplayin6977 exactly...I won't lie...I'm excited about this...but the current events in game release history causes us to approach new games with tempered optimism for fear of repeatedly getting burned by poor/unfinished releases.
I hope this one is great!
Yeah I mean... not riddled with microtransactions, live service, subscription model. Base level for entry for me.
You probably said the same thing about the Starfield gameplay reveal as well.
The mad lads did it Daggerfall 2
Wasn't sure until you said fishing .... I'm in ❤
Ayeeeeee hey Gopher!
You should make a video on these guys, give them more exposure!
Should have expected to see you here! I agree it would be nice to see a speculative video on Wayward Realms perhaps? ;)
bro pls make a video on this game
Bro I saw a screenshot and immediately came to find this. MAKE THIS DAMN GAME I NEED IT
The only thing I highly request is allow us to have a 3rd person perspective like Skyrim. Personally I 3rd person when I’m not in dungeons or battles. I’ll use it for dialogue, in normal buildings and traveling.
@@Itsleaff third person is planned.
I always talk to my brother about the things we miss in the modern day RPGs, and this game pretty much has all of it. It feels like a dream come true, can't wait to play it
ah yes, there's always the fishing minigame
I took that as a smart aleck nod to Skyrim's new fishing mechanic.
Fishing in games always triples my hours played. HYPE
My knees hurt, but my veteran bones are ready for a new adventure!

Ah yes, the grand magic of kicking a door down. I spent months learning that spell from my mentor.
Easy to learn, hard to master. DAS BOOT!
Im really glad that you guys added the hyperlink dialogue, it adds so much to have easily accessible lore cause its embedded in the game instead of an afterthought menu
I have not been this excited for a game since Skyrim.
Indeed. I truly am excited to be able to make "custom" magic again. I have missed that since Daggerdall
Strange. This game is literally opposite of Skyrim. Betshesda hate and remove from their games everything that is making W-Realms so good. And Skyrim is pinacle of their philisophy in this sense

They're saying that if the Kickstarter is successful they'll have an early access for backers in 2025. As for the full game I guess it depends how much they're funded because that will affect dev time.
We're on day 2 and you're almost halfway to reaching your funding goal, excellent work.
I feel bad for not paying attention to this more. Now I will pay attention and talk about this on my channel!
Amazing, 50K already after only half an hour.
look at it now
That's because people want a DEEP first person CRPG experience. Outside of "tabletop" style games, they are hard to find. And this trailer delivers a LOT of that already.
Yup, they're now at 136k at the 5 hour mark!
Proud to be a Day 1 backer of this exciting project! 🤜🤛
What he said!
Everyone get to kickstarter and back this. I just have. I wish I could pledge more, but everyone who loves elder scrolls, arena, and daggerfall specifically needs to chip in on this!
There is nothing but promises so far. Not a smart move really.
I'm crying. been addicted to Daggerfall and dungeon synth since I caught wind of Daggerfall Unity This is finally the game that will get me streaming again!
and not just from the eyes! Hiyooooooooo!
I feel you brother ⚔
The "golden era" of videogames (the mid-late 90's and early 2000s) is brought back year after year by hordes of passionate and talented indie devs. And it's a joy yo behold! Almost brings a tear to my eye:')
The Elder Scrolls inspiration is obviously there. But I'm also getting some strong Might & Magic vibes from the narration and atmosphere:D
Its been many years years but its finally coming together. Its wonderful to see the Wayward Realms being shown. It will be great to see it being fully released.
I wish the best of luck to all the developers on the game. Its been a long time but it is coming together.
Dark Messiah kick ftw! Climbing also looked very good
If this is a spiritual successor to Dagger fall will there be any Easter eggs like a ghost yelling vengeance at night that scares the shit out of me
perhaps...
@@OnceLostGames my only request is that you do not rush the development of this no matter what to ensure the highest quality
even if it takes 2 or even 5 years to finally release

when i get my salary donating money to this project. The industry right now needs this game.
I’m sold after seeing the skeleton bonk his buddy across the back of his head and he dies.
Very nice. I'm getting a strong sense of the vision you devs have for this game and wanting to make something that has its own identity. And i know this is super early alpha gameplay but it already feels a bit different then anything i have seen before. Obviously getting some daggerfall vibes. Really nice.
That fishing bit really shows that they know what gamers want lol
I mean, you put in all that water, AND sailable ships. At that point, of COURSE I kinda wanna go fishing.
I cant express how goddamn excited I am for this game. I've been burned so many times before by modern AAA releases being buggy as hell or disappointing. But the fact that you're taking your time, and that this is a spiritual successor to one of my favourite RPGs of all time gives me a lot of hope, especially after seeing this trailer. Please take as long as you need. I'm confident that this has a lot of potential to be the greatest RPG ever made, especially if you manage to execute the world events/evolving cities system (which sounds INSANE)
This is amazing, the only thing that’s missing is that Oblivion atmosphere where the world feels alive. Like having random characters walk by and say something or seeing a random animal grazing. Or maybe wind blowing the trees and butterfly particle effects. It’s just the setting feels very static.
@@TheFaizster those will come in later down the line. So far we've been focused on the core systems, but we do plan on having those little touches.
Damn this really looks amazing! RPG fans are gonna be eating well in the coming years!
Great to see the Kickstarter launching, and with a gameplay trailer accompanying it no less🥰
Just made my pledge; though I never before saw myself as a Grand Inquisitor, I thought it only fitting in this regard 😊

omg daggerfall... i got goosebumps. the extreme nostalgia high from this video.. i really REALLY hope you guys pull this off and make an extreme banger. and keep trying to find and convince all the old school devs of elder scrolls to hop on board (ESPECIALLY whoever made the AI of oblivion... that guy was an effin genius ahead of his time.. the tech wasnt ready for that level of ai) i remember seeing npcs go crazy for food or seeing goblins raiding homes and it was diff each playthrough. if you can get that guy on board.. with maybe nvidia's AI npc's to help stable out that dev's ai system, you'd have an infinite possibilities game.
i just read the kickstarter, and just realized if it were possible figuring out how to plug the VGM with nvidia's AI npc's and maybe hard coding major npc's like kings or faction leaders (program their personality and when they want to do something of their own accord the VGM could green light it or not) or having npc's we've met get green lighted for nvidia ai by the VGM so then they get their personality and you can quite literally talk with them via mic or typing. say like i want to charm them, id click the button for charm then talk my crap. and then get a natural response back, would bring incredible immersion.
"We're creating an open world sandbox that feels good to live in."
Todd Howard: "Wait, that's illlegal."
Happy to be one of the backers of this project. I'd love to learn more about the stealth system you guys have planned and what you can do with a stealth build.
Pledged as an Adventurer, the kickstarter is movin' baby! good luck!
Commenting for the algorithm. Want this game to succeed so badly.

Just pledged for the Kickstarter campaign! Go OnceLost games!
Now I see why this game is a spiritual successor to Daggerfall: it has much of it art style but with modern looks. Will follow it's updates with pretty huge interest
Your mic is peaking, consider reducing your gain or hiring a recording specialist to set it up. Once it's set up, it shouldn't need adjusting again.
Speaking of audio, you may want to adjust some of the damage sounds to make them a little "meatier" as hit-confirmation.
Agreed
Or just lower the background music / sounds
Should also be a longer release time on that side chain limiter/compressor/unmasker, so that the music doesn’t fade in and out very quickly during short pauses when you’re speaking
Been anticipating this since seeing the original two interviews with Julian and Ted! I am excited!

I think this will be the first time I support a Kickstarter! I know the game is supposed to be a spiritual successor to Daggerfall but it also seems heavily inspired by Morrowind, one of my favorite RPGs. Looking forward to donating to the team and supporting this project!
I love that you can ask npcs about nearly anything! Modern one or two optioned dialogue trees make me sad
Brings me right back to Arena and Daggerfall days... I could not pledge fast enough :) Great work guys! Can't wait!
This is how Daggerfall looked in my mind back when i played it as a child. I'll be pledging some money soon!
I like how you're not afraid to make the puzzles tricky. It will be fun trying to work them out for a brand new game with no wiki entries, I think it will help foster a community for this game.
Not only that, but they've talked about bringing back the language skills from Daggerfall... Which might have you translate texts to solve those puzzles too!
It's likely a lot of puzzles will be generated at runtime as well so it might not even be the same solution every time
I can't wait to play this great looking game! I will definitely back it on KickStarter!
That framerate has me worried, but on the other hand it's ballsy and admirable to show an actual pre alpha gameplay.
This is like a fusion of Daggerfall game play mechanics, Morrowind text reading style and Oblivionesque engine.
I want to play it. So hyped for this.
Got put onto this by a Daggerfall review. I really hope this happens. It doesnt need to be perfect, just consistent. Adventure, exploration and creating your own story, who doesnt want that.
Glad you found us!
We hear ya. We actually have been designing quests in a 5 act structure, with fifth acts being a potential first act for another quest.
@@OnceLostGames Thanks for the reply! It's been on my mind a long while as a tes fan, and I'm happy I somehow had my voice heard! This project is in insanely good hands, can't wait to try it out.
For the first time, I have backed a project on Kickstarter because I love the idea of this game.
I have played Daggerfall, and had good fun with it surprisingly for such a old game.
But one of my biggest drawbacks within the game, was the lack of handcraft, and reason to actually go out and explore the wildlands.
If that gets addressed, it would become a grand favorite of mine for sure.
wow that dialogue system looks rad! Reminds me a bit of Subsurface Circular, which I always thought had the most interesting dialogue system in gaming
Yes, I get flashbacks to Morrowind. I spend hours sometimes, just chatting with people in towns :)
I think it was about 1 hour after launch that 10% of the funding level was reached. Makes me hopeful.
It gives the feeling of that good old cozy sandbox rpg that i missed so much. Plus the artstyle gives it such a great sense of atmosphere
LET'S GOOOOOOOOO! Sending lots of love to the team, you guys truly made something special back in the day and I'm glad to see people are giving Daggerfall the recognition it deserves, and I'm glad to see this project coming to life.
