Details on the two 16-part step sequencers for evolving control of pitch, filter, and amplitude in the Dynamic Synth instrument of the Boss SY-1000.
That was VERY helpful!…and also very well done, thanks so much!!
Thanks!
This is a very ambitious intro into the sequencer and for the SY-1000 altogether. Thank-you so much.
Wayne thanks for doing this excellent tutorial. I’m a little out of my depth with this pedal and becoming a little disillusioned with it. There so few tutorials around and Boss are useless in this regard unless pedal has “GT” in its name. Thank you for making the effort to help and for single handedly keeping me engaged with this incredible device. It’s appreciated.
Yes, I 100% agree with you, this is not a very welcoming unit, it is easy to get discouraged. Glad you found this helpful.
I sometimes find it hard to get to the sound I have in my head. Not sure why Boss didn't just use the normal ADSR method.
@@stuartcarter7053 100% agree. I feel the same way with the OSC SYNTH model.
What I love about the unit is the way separate strings can control individual instruments. Sadly I just don't have the time to experiment!
Thanks again for this.
Glad you enjoyed this!
I have the sy1000, I love it a lot, but have a lot of unpratical stuff, you have to create and adjust many things to make it workable, but does not make me dislike it, love for the experiment things
nice Tutorial
Thanks!
Very good explanation! Thank! I got one question though: after you engage hold function with ctl1 footswitch, you can play some melody on top of your sequence. But what if you want to change the root note of your sequence? As far as I understand, you need to disengage the hold function by pressing ctl1 footswitch, then you play another note and then you engage the hold again. Is that correct? Or is there some more convenient way to do it?
Now they've got Megan Rapinoe. Fitting.
One Question
Is there any way that you can connect the 2 Sequencers? For Example having 32 Steps for the Pitch instead of 16
I couldn’t find this in the manual; does the sy-1000 have a proper arpeggiator that follows chords? With the gk pickup, it should do - right?
As I understand your question, the answer is 'no'.
@@WayneJoness Cheers, do any GK synths have arpeggiators? I know a few guitarists that have always wanted one, it just seems like an easy win with a GK system.
This customization is possible also on the sy-200?
I do not know, I have not worked with the SY-200
4:18 Have you reported the ONE SHOT issue to Boss? I can repro on patch 2-4 (Intense Filter). The distinctive filter sequence in INST1 is a ONE SHOT and it doesn't play at all.
Wow! Thanks for the info, I just thought I did not full grasp how it should work. The manual could go into a little more detail, though there is a lot to cover.
Roland Support says the SEQ needs to be turned off and on before ONE SHOT will play again. Possibly a bug.
@@joebowbeer Possibly a bug?
The rep admitted that this was not easy to use, and that it was implemented differently on other devices. I wouldn't be surprised if this behavior changed in a future update.
So I don't need gk pickup for this?
You are correct, you do not need a GK pickup for patches that use the 'dynamic synth' (sequencer). This is similar to the SY-300. For other instruments in the SY-1000, such as the modeled Roland GR-300, you will need a GK Pickup. The last bank of patches in the SY-1000 do not require a GK pickup.
