Silverchair perform "Young Modern Station" at the Launch Party for their new album "Young Modern" thanks to narc85 who i got the video of this show from!
gilles.. we need to have a chat about those shorts. and how come so many people who just 'hate' YM like to sit around and listen to it so much? if you like old silverchair, there's plenty of videos of old silverchair. but i think the truth is you fuckin like it.
I really wonder why the shift in this direction myself. If it was an evolution from the norm, I would just be happy that they are doing what they want, except it is so much like tons of other music. Diorama was a huge evolutionary shift from freak show and I feel that they completely outdid themselves to date with that album. I really like bands that evolve because it shows they are being true to themselves, but this music makes me wonder how true they are being just because of the poppiness.
there's many fans who are kind of dissapointed with this new silverchair, but i just dont get it...this is like 1000 times better music than what they used to play 10 years ago..wow is allucinating and elegant at the same time.this particular song is just c'mon..just impressive. Really they're probably one of the best band in the world today.
thanks man! the thumbs down on my comment proves without a doubt that all the young modern fans LOVED the album before theyd heard any of it... and would LOVE whatever it sounded like...oh and another thing, did anyone here listen to reflections of a sound without bursting out into laughs of ridicule?
if they had sold out themselves, they would be playing emo songs now, like Simple Plan, My Chemical Romance, Good Charlott, you know, all that shit! they are just showing people, that they can do, whatever they fuckin' want, any kinds of music, they're just some fuckin' GENIUS!
I disagree. Daniel started dating Natalie after Silverchair recorded Neon Ballroom in 1999. If anything, I think it's Paul Mac that has a strong influence over Daniel's music. Some people say it's a bad thing *shrugs*
WTF people? I loved them in all stages. But how silly i feeling now listening the frog stamp? I'm not suprised changed thru those years. when they started they was a teenagers!they they are adults now,they no longer going to sing about bad drugs abuse, or unhappy teens ?! get over it people and start to be open minded. all rock and grunge is about freedom isn't it? about breaking the barriers! and now all rocks show how close minded they are:)
Daniel Johns rips! He's divorcing Natalie Imbruglia because she's jealous of his current world tour. Hopefully the divorce will stoke more creativity and thus produce an even better album than "Young Modern", though that would be difficult considering the album pretty much rules!
Some of you would defend Daniel Johns if he went on a killing spree. Silverchair sold out HARD. I think it's amusing that Daniel said he hates their old stuff and considers Neon Ballroom where Silverchair "really began" when a lot of people think of it as "the beginning of the end."
100 times better??????????????????????????? its closer to -100 times better the music they made in the mid 90s was way more complex and it was more individual when u heard it u said wow another great song from silverchair. now u hear them and say who is that clone pop band that sounds like everyone else in the music biz today??? oh its silverchair?!?! what the hell happened?
Ever since that Paul Mac teamed up with Johns, I haven't liked anything I've heard from both Johns or Silverchair. Not saying it's bad music, but just personally, it sounds really boring and all the same.
More heavy then the album version.. absolutely kickin'ass
Neon Ballroom is very good because it's when they really came into their own style, but Diorama is their masterpiece, by far.
Awesome!! Best album yet:))

i think youre right chequevarra, they should stay true to the old sound
very different from the silverchair i grew up with. I miss them :(

I hate to say this but now they are beginning to remind me of Coldplay by their looks and sound.
does somebody have the setlist of this show?
omg you are blue
Damn the lead singer looks like a completely different guy.
@adamsean85 Young Modern * :P
thats so wrong, their music is not pop clone, they are very original and different in this album

@dahfshx
those bands are not emo.
Sunny Day Real Estate and Get Up Kids are Emo.
They became too emo after Natalie Imbruglia messed with Daniel... so sad.
Natalie Imbruglia is their Yoko Ono
100 times better???????????????????????????

i just wana point out that mind reader has the worst lyric in music history, thats right..."still it seems funny, stickin like honey".....*cringes*
only good song on that album
