Still one of my favourite songs all these years later. This performance is magical, like Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, and Led Zeppelin had a baby.
Johns playing was impressive, very dark sense of melody to his riffing. I liked where he took the song, I've always considered it one of their better pieces. It flows well yet has very distinct sections and a great dynamic. Johns never gets the credit he deserves, amazing writer too.
best rendition of the song, i never thought it would have a better live version..
This and Miss you love are like the best songs ever written,
in the history of music.
fucking best band ever!!!
From age 15 to 23 nothing has changed. Still gives me the shivers. Nothing but love for Silverchair :)
I really like what Paul Mac is playing during Dan's solo from 2:28 - 2:58. It sounds like he's just slapping the keys at the low end of the piano. Sounds so cool.
Their sound just keeps on getting better as they mature. Paul Mac adds the final touch. saw them @ the Tivoli. Exceeded all expectations!!
Silverchair forever
I think instrumentally and vocally the stables version is the best with this one coming in second. Both have amazing guitar parts.
This performance was f$ckin great. Glad to seem them back as a band.
That was amazing. he's gotten better at live singing since their last live dvd. I love this man!!!
I'm just happy he's not semi-suicidal anymore.
The songs he composed ten years ago are still evolving with each performance, which I believe is a good thing.
@Yeaahright - true, and it's all made him who he is today. therefore it's a modern version of the song. i completely agree with you about dan's guitar skills, and the guy is way musically gifted; his talent isn't something you can just learn. his ability to express his emotions through music never ceases to amaze me, and is the main reason i love his music so much. *he* is amazing.
Such a great Band!!! Have spent so many awesome hours listening to that music!!!
wow! very shocked. i didn't think they actually could perform ES better than they had in the past. i was...wrong. what an amazing band.
they rocked it.
i respect how he leaves out the 'get up' part because obviously the song is very emotional and means a lot to him, yet he isn't in the same place he was when he wrote the it. and that part was full of pain... and would probably be painful to sing. kind of like how he does ana's song differently. it's understandable and the songs are still just as good.
Melhor versão de Emotion Sickness Live
for real, the "get up" part is like the best part of the song!
love this intro, perfect !!!
Think in their place man,it's impossible to sing negative songs a whole liftime, if you aren't sad anymore
and if you like silverchair, you just have to accept it man
you never know what their next album may be,look at the foo fighters
do you want them to be like those kids from Tokio Hotel?
these songs have a meaning,a different emotion,a different story, but always so poetic.Just learn to enjoy their music, the sound of his voice, his guitar, the lyric, the bass, the drum. You have to feel it man!
this song never fails to send chills up my spine
his voice is just great! love this performance.
By far the best performance of this song thevy've ever done.
One of the Greatest songs ever written i think..
amaaaaazing! i love this song...this is probably the best version ive heard!
This is by far my favorite performance of this amazing song! :)
Love the later live versions of this song. Daniel plays around alot during the songs "lull" with guitar. Every version is a little different.
one of the best songs of all time
spectacular as always...the best band in the world
Damnnnn good shite.
Always changing and evolving this song... no one live version is the same.

if u havnt already, type in 'silverchair sao paulo' and watch the first one, in my opinion it is the best live performance for emotion sickness.
4:15
I miss that time
Que saudade desse tempo
Silverchair
Love this
This version absolutely kicks some ass!!
Check out the one in Sao Paulo if u haven't yet. It's also very good and the audience makes the difference.
Neon ballroom their best album
greatness.
WOW! best performance ever.. daniel johns is god.. and Paul is a great addition to Silverchair!! LOVED IT!
I love this song,,,, cool !
I agree this performance was amazing & one of my faves also! That had to suck for them tho having such a dull crowd.. but this is such a serious song, so sad yet beautiful all u can do is just stand there in awe ;O
i love this song
Best version of best song
one of their best fo' sure
perfection
Amazing...
i feel like crying. so emotional!!! @.@
you expect them to get an entire string section on stage to play one song, everytime they play? it's not practical and it sounds just fine on keyboard, this is one of the finest versions of emotion sickness i've seen and trust me, i've seen a lot
my god... this is just awesome !! :'(
their best song ever
great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
awesome!!!
amazing
Great song.
One of the best version right after the Live from Faraway Stables and Rock AM Ring!
Would love to get the CD from this gig!
i can;t believe he still has that guitar!!
Neon Ballroom was their "Disintegration".
Sao Paolo is still the best IMHO , by far. Dan was just so into it in 2003 at that time! It's like he was in a trance and put me into one, permanently!~
YESSSS
yea i agree
LOVE!
awesome solo.
very good performance
Me, too.. I was patiently waiting for it, then he didn't do it :( I really hope he gets his voice back (like on the "Take the world upon your shoulders and burn, burn, burn, burn, burn, burn or Like I found a four leaf clover part in The Lever) He is still an amazing vocalist, but damn it I miss that grrrrr he used to have.
❤
This was an Album launch so the crowd is littered with media, record label people, competition winners and other randoms, which might explain the non rocking crowd.
Awesome performance though, it's right up there as one of my favourites.
hell yes
that effect is digitech whammy
it is not about distortion but pitch (one octave higher)
listen to "sleep all day". he's still got it
the best version ever is emotion sickness live melbourne park 1999. even better than the cd version. its perfect check it out
FAIR CALL MAN, RESPECT.
if u havnt already, type in 'silverchair sao paulo' and watch the first one that is there.
Looked up the lyrics incredible juxtaposition
omg 3:50 i HAVE to kno what those 8 notes were, i need to see it tabbed, i need to learn it and i need to play it all fucking day
good stuff
He wrote the song so basically he can do whatever the hell he wants with it.
ammmmmaaazzzzziiiiinnnnnggggggggg
Pesado essa versão
HOLY FUCK EXPLOSIVE
rock am ring's show is awsome too.
Um, Paul Mac worked with silverchair on 3 of the 5 albums. *eye roll*
Sao Paulo 2003 is by far the best version of this song I think.
@ blue-eyed-butterfly. The crowed doesn't suck it's him. It's his job to get the crowd pumping, he simply can't perform his old songs with the same feeling as he used to. Lol I don't care how many times he gets down there to twiddle with the nobs during the climax, no one ever says get up. Maybe he should say it like twice the let the crowd take over.
Good Lord- these comments were made when Daniel was the ripe old age of 30!!!! Y'all talk as if he is ready for the old folks home and using a cane!
There is a tangible element missing however-can't put my finger on it -maybe it was the fact that he seemed okay with being vulnerable and just laying in all out there.
You didn't have to decipher his lyrics/songs-no silly metaphors about fish (Nirvana )
increible.. dios mio.. daniel is a god
wow whammy effect...this song missed that sound before
😮
etch trippy guitar effects in the breakdown
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G... one of the most intense & powerful version of Emotion Sickness...
