I simply love how detailed oriented you are. I am an accountant and details are of the upmost importance to me. Thanks so much for this (and all your other videos as well!)
You just saved me money with this wonderful review! I wanted the A5 Cousin Avec, cause I want to carry this and don't want it to be too heavy. So happy I watched this first!! Thank you!
Whaaaaaaaaaa? ONLY 236 likes? What is going on? THIS WAS AN ABBBBB-SOLUTELY FANTASTIC VIDEO.! Great, great job. Great detail and presentation. Thank you soooooo much! Really.... Fabulous video. Much appreciated!
Great video! Very detailed and informative. It's great that you covered the different sizes. It gives me a better idea of which size I want to get. Thank you!
+Cristina Spence (Spensive66) Thank you! I tried to cover what I would have wanted to see back when I was making my own choices. Let me know what you decide.
Fantastic video! I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on all of these. As usual, we're on the same wavelength - I always throw the leaflets straight in recycling too :o) I love your idea of making all the year's free accessories the same colour! I can't wait to see your setup videos of each of these! And I'm really happy to hear that you will be using yours strictly for planning (we left-brained types seem to be in a minority among Hobonichi users)!
I started looking for smaller planner for next year ( I used inkwell this year) I started watching UA-cam videos and heard "HONONICHI" everywhere so I had to check it out! I'm glad I did! I'm Japanese and never knew I can order Japanese techo from the states. Now I wish I knew this few months back cause I was in Japan for two months and I could of bought so much more techo stuff and pens but I'll save my shopping till next time I go there!! Thanks for the detailed video I can't wait to get my order !!
Love your review! The green vertical weeks in the A6, where did you get that one? You're one of the first UA-camrs that I've seen who wants the Hobo for actual planning! Please do a setup vid, I'd love to see another use for the Hobo outside of art journaling.
+Dee B Thank you. That is the weekly calendar booklet from Hobo. It is under accessories; here is the link to make it easier to find: www.1101.com/store/techo/2016/planner/detail_toolstoys/tt_o_weekly.html I do have a video on how I will be using them: ua-cam.com/video/Fpf8Iwd7bDY/v-deo.html You're right; there aren't that many Hobos as planners out there. I will definitely do updates once Dec/Jan starts!
I was so glad you said you were recycling, it really irks me when people just throw that stuff in the bin/garbage. The tissue holders definitely make me think of a smile haha, happy I'm not just crazy.
Loved your review! I love that you question the design and features of the planners, I haven't seen anyone do that so far! For the timeline in the cousin, if I remember correctly, the planner was designed to give more writing space in general, rather than more hourly planning space. The planners ending in March is extremely relevant to the Japanese calendar, where the school year starts in April. It also coincides with Hobonichi's spring launch which covers April to April. Also in the Japanese "extra" pages located at the back of the planners, there are very handy "favourites" pages in which you can review different books, music, restaurants, etc. I only own the Japanese A6 version so I'm not sure if they're in the Cousin or the English version, but I have found them to be very handy especially while traveling. As for the colours of the covers, I don't think Hobonichi has permanent colours for the regular covers. They seem to change from year to year and are not meant to match with the Cousin. It might not make sense at first but to me it brings a nice flair to the lineup! I do agree about the patterned covers on covers, though. It might break the pattern to have the back pocket but I'm sure it would please a lot of people to have it on there! Thank you again for a lovely review!
+mariam Thank you! I have a habit (good or bad haha) of questioning everything - not to be contentious, but because I'm naturally curious. I appreciate your insight on the April start, and the logic behind the pages. Thanks for watching!
I honestly respect all your questions! As a responsible consumer, it's extremely important to do that, in my opinion! I'm happy if I could provide some insight. I am interested to know why they made certain changes to the English version, and kept other things that might not be relevant for an English audience. I don't own the English planner, but I really found your comparison interesting! On another note, I really enjoy your no-spend series as well as your other planner videos. I'm new to your channel and absolutely love your content! Thank you for sharing!
+mariam Thank you so much; I really appreciate your kind words! I'm so glad to have you here! I just noticed you have a channel; I'm headed over there to check it out. :)
awesome summary! I just started a "Fauxbonichi" a week ago and I'm obsessed. I want to buy a real Hobonichi at the end of the year (for 2018) if I'm able to stick with it. Thanks for this!
The comparison of the time frame on Cousin allows for notetaking on the bottom. Which is nice. Where did you order the weekly that fits in the A6 cover?
+MsTotallyU It's from the Hobonichi website; I haven't seen it available anywhere else. www.1101.com/store/techo/2016/planner/detail_toolstoys/tt_o_weekly.html
Hi. New subscriber here and first of your videos viewed this morning. I just ordered my first Hobonichi (the A6 English) from JetPens. The packages with the covers were sold out, so I jumped at the chance to just get the planner. My question is whether you know of an online retailer where I can buy the black A6 cover separately. Thanks, and great video!
+randykite It's so great that Jetpens has started selling them! Hopefully their line will expand soon, but only the official website sells covers separately at this time. Here is the link to that: www.1101.com/store/techo/2016/planner/lineup/ It is shipping from Japan, but I thought the cost was reasonable & I got my package within a week. Welcome!
Hey! Nice video but can I ask one thing? I'm not really planning on buying a case for my hobonichi but I want the book mark things. Do the hobonichi cousins have like a bookmark on the book itself like the weeks?
They do not. I'm personally using a cousin and I have some book darts that I use to mark pages in the books I read, so I just used three of those to mark the current month, week, and day. Hope that helps!
Hi! I'm trying to decide if I the avec would be a good fit for me, but I cant tell if there is an extra page at the beginning of each month before it goes into the dailies. Wondering if you could provide any info on this. I like to have a page at the beginning of each month for monthly planning & wrap up so any info would be extremely helpful! Thanks :)
+Christine Cortese You're welcome! I am a very detailed person; I have lots of goals and things to keep track of - home, health, fitness, food, family, church, personal, etc. so no artistic/creative/crafty going on over here. It's strictly pure planning. I have a few things to tweak, so I'll be doing setup videos for each one soon. Athough technically I have until December 1 to figure everything out! ;-)

I know, me too! Glad to have company as a Hobo planner :o)
I loove this video! Thanks so much for being very thorough. I really appreciate it. Now I understand the Hobonichis better.
Great job on this video. I appreciated you taking the time.

+mitzi wijne Aw, I'm so glad! I am a detail person, so I was hoping my observations would help someone else as well.

This is one of the BEST comparisons I've seen! Thank you so much!
+iu97alum Aw, I appreciate that! Glad it helped you.
This is super duper helpful. Thank you!
Very helpful! Thank you.
+ebonygator You are so welcome!
This post was fantastic!
Great review! Thank you.
LOL - I'm with you on the bent pages! I'm exactly the same way. I really enjoyed the video!
Excellent review.

The double loop is to slip pen through and keep the planner closed.
+MsTotallyU Yep, it's a great design; it just took me awhile to get used to the look of it.

+Kalamaushika Vikna Theyagarajan Yes, there is one "Remember This" page which is mostly blank for each month. It should work great for that. :)
+TheSassyPineapple great! thanks so much! now the daunting task of waiting for shipment to arrive :/
Thanks for such a thorough review! But 'm so curious - how are you purposing all of these?
+Christine Cortese You're welcome! +Iblame Summers Thanks!
