I just LOVE how honest you are Vicky!! I used to be one of those people who would watch UA-cam videos and would want EVERYTHING I saw. I almost always would get all excited and purchase everything then realize later that I didn't LOVE it....This video will hit home with ALOT of people. Thanks so much!! Oh, by the way, I really think the light makes your videos even better. Great job!!
I love that you talked about how artists only get better because they practice. It's so true! But there are other artistic things, such as calligraphy, that are just as beautiful
Really insightful video. I went straight for the Hobonichi but I didn't find it on their site, I found it on a British website and loved the luxurious look and felt the high price pushed my commitment to stick with it. I've been using it for almost a month and honestly I am so fond of it, it has become an extension of my day. The idea of having a daily record of thoughts and inspiration etc. is amazing, after reading some of Michael Palin's diary books it is a great reminder that even if life isn't that exciting right now it can be wonderful to look back on.
Vicky! i am using the Hobonichi techno 2017 and really enjoying it! The thing i appreciate most about your video is your advice and encouragement to USE the product you get. Research, make sure it is what you need/want, purchase and USE! This can be a difficult and frustrating process. Like you said, there are so many great products and everything looks wonderful, but what a waste if it isn't used! Jan 2016 found me overwhelmed and struggling to use all the great things i had purchased.... but i eliminated what was a burden, only kept what i was going to actually use -- and the year was happy and productive! thanks girl :0)
Great video and very timely to me. I've been on the Hobo bench many months now. This video gave me more information at one time than many others combined. Thanks for the help.
One thing I've been wanting to ask is how do you store your old journals/planners? Right now I have mine in a bankers box but was wondering what you do. I love all of your videos! You fill my head with tons of ideas for journaling.
Excellent video. I just ordered the A6 to use as a daily diary. I did not know this size doesn't come with all the weekly calendar pages. That's perfect. I've been struggling with the perfect diary. Thank you!!!
I didn't know the Miguel Rius came in the A6 size, but I'm going to look for it! It is really a cheaper way to try things. Thank you so much for showing us and talking about the cheaper versions for journaling.😀
I skipped the faux route but found in actually using mine for a planner. I've been really bad about using them before but it's a slowly working into using it since I'm tired of relying on digital means of keeping dates and I remember things better writing them down. I'm too happy with it. :)
Thank you so much for this video. It was wonderful. I think you just saved me a ton of money. I get caught up in "I have to have it all". Thanks again.
I love your video!!! Oh and I love storms too, just not the disaster they bring. I'm glad I watched your video. I'm planning to get the Spring hobonichi (April to April) for my birthday (April's my birth month) but I'm not sure if I should. Maybe I should just wait for 2017... But this video is a GREAT help. I want to know how that paper feels like. Also I'm planning to get the A6 one but I'm scared that it might be too small for me (I usually work with A5 sized planners) but as I'm getting older I kind of appreciate the way smaller notebooks feel not only to my hand but inside my bag as well. Thank you for this video!
Thank you so much for enlightening us about Hobonichi and the planner videos you do. Do you have any plans to do any kind of "favorites or style" type videos? Maybe even just show us your favorite office suplies or things on your desk? -Sandra
Vickie, can you please let me know what book you were holding up that is in Japanese that helps you with sketches? Thanks in advance and thanks so much for making this video.
Vicky san, Hello from Japan. I am enjoying watching your video about stationary! I am using Hobonichi also with my favorite fountain pen; Pelikan, Lamy. Looking forward to watching next new video.
missvickybee thank you so much for your input i came across hobonichi 2017 OMG! i want but im debating if its for me. so im thinking on buying the one you did, barnes noble also has one for $10 but one question do the pages fall out after using it or flipping the pages? I just get so annoyed when that happens with a notebook.thank you love your videos!
I love my Hobo's! This year I am trying the weeks and A6, if I miss Cousin I can order in March because I started in Apr for that one. I love your advise but I jumped in because I was journaler - doodler already, but agree with try the fauxbanichi as I did have that before my hobo, but was using it only as journal. The hobo just has what I need because I never know each day what I want to do.
+Pamala Hanson I'm so happy to hear you love your hobos!! Your a pro if you are already a journaler. I wanted to share advice with folks who are completely new and overwhelmed!
Do you happen to have a link for that little book that shows you how people use the Hobonichi and how to doodle in it? You show it around 7:30-8:30 in your video. If you don't have a link, do you know where I can find one? Thanks :)
If I'm not mistaken, this video seems to be directed towards people who already know what a hobonichi is, but are on the fence about buying it. Hence the justified "long windedness". Not necessarily for people who are trying to figure out what it is for the first time. I would recommend watching another video.
Hi there. Do you love the canvas cover for the cousin? I'm contemplating getting a cover for the Hobonichi Cousin this year and I just cannot decide between canvas cover and the regular, standard cover. I'm concerned that the zipper will be a hassle to deal with when writing. Lastly, do you find the cover with the zipper to big and heavy? Thank you in advance.
I am IN LOVE with the zip around covers. I always feel like my pens and papers are safe inside. I don't usually have any clips or anything sticking out so for me it's the ideal cover!
In my country I just came across BILT Matrix 5 subject spiral bound notebooks in grid paper. Till now I thought only lined paper was available. They come in sizes, a6, a5 and a4. and when I chanced upon the grid paper version I went nuts. It's perfect for the Fauxbonichi style and better because it comes with dividers..each section has 30 pages and I've decided to use this for journalling hobonichi style for 2016! Now looking for tips and advice.. what do I do for covers for these? Remember they are spiral bound. Look it up online to get an idea. I'm really stuck for the covers..
I love your videos!! Quick question... Does your Miquelrius fit in the zip around cover? I am considering the zip around but am afraid it will be too tight a fit.... Thanks in advance!
Does anyone know where to find Miquel Ruis journal in Canada? Barnes & Nobel website has them, but I'm afraid of getting charged import duty fees and amazon's shipping to canada is just as much as the journal itself leaving me with paying ~50$. If anyone know the store name or website with cheaper alternative, that'd be great!
Does anyone know where to sell if you don't have a Facebook . I don't have one because of work. I got excited and bought too much. Would like to sell the A6 English with cover and cover on cover. I like the cousin size better.
.i bought the smaller Hobonichi and two covers last year and it cost me nearly £75 as it was over £20 for customs duty. Far too expensive. I was debating the larger Hobonichi cousin but I wouldn't try and guess how much it would cost.im sticking to my daily moleskine at around £14
+zozizzle09 I found mine in the Brighton Paperchase, because apparently not all of them have it. And the website only has the A6 one, but the A5 one is also on Amazon: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0035XENMK?colid=3FFB2JF93KUYT&coliid=I3V6N9UGA7DPHC&ref_=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl But, I do recommend the MD notebooks too, like artybohemian; I don't think there's enough pages for one a day, but they are thinner so more portible, but you'd have to have more than one for the whole year. But they're lovely books and the paper is great - I used an A6 one for my OneBookJuly last year.
why do you talk incescently? What drug are you on? I love your content...but your speed is VERY fast...and I don't like listening...not too relaxing sorry

Get the black or ivory weeks if you decide to get one. They are soft cover and thinner than the hard bound ones.
Shimmering2light , good to know. I didn't realize this, which was what was holding me back from ordering the weeks, thx for the heads up!
I love your passion Vicky!
Great video and very timely to me. I've been on the Hobo bench many months now. This video gave me more information at one time than many others combined. Thanks for the help.
As a complete newbie to Hobos, I really want to thank you for this. So helpful. 👍🏼👍🏼

Barnes and Noble sells the Miguel Ruis book in black or red for $9.95
Excellent video. I just ordered the A6 to use as a daily diary. I did not know this size doesn't come with all the weekly calendar pages. That's perfect. I've been struggling with the perfect diary. Thank you!!!
You should always use the light you turned on for the storm... it makes it so much easier to see! :)

rocking the funky specs - tres cool!
loving the glasses
Thank you so much for this video. It was wonderful. I think you just saved me a ton of money. I get caught up in "I have to have it all". Thanks again.
+animalrescuegeek I do the same thing!! I'm so glad to hear that you got something from the video!

+lfbdiamondmind Hi Sandra,
Sure I can work on putting something like that together!
I also love following Sailormimzy, she is just amazingly talented 😊
+Kallerhult Creations She is so awesome!

Six minutes in and I still don't know what a Hobonichi is.
They're Japanese planners. This woman can be very long-winded.

yes, she is ALL OVER THE PLACE.....
great video! What's the name of that doodle planner book?
love your glasses.. Were did you get them? :)

Thank you! This helps me in deciding. Now I just have to find some type of spray to protect the canvas cover because it is an ivory color.
Great advice, too often I've gotten a journal because of the hype and then ended up not using it.. and paying so much money for it.

Love your vlogs! Wondering the name or link to the book your showed us on the vlog?
+mrsunshine123123 The Miquel Ruis book?
the Japanese book on doodling/drawing?
I don't get this...Is it just a planner that you are using to scetch in?
Does anyone know where to sell if you don't have a Facebook . I don't have one because of work. I got excited and bought too much. Would like to sell the A6 English with cover and cover on cover. I like the cousin size better.
Hi, Vicky. Can you tell me the title of the Japanese book for doodling in planners? I tried to look for it on Amazon, but couldn't find it.
+ydgluver Yes of course, here is a link amzn.to/1OR9loN
Thanks for the link. Btw, I also got a couple of Miguel Ruiz journals to try out from Barnes & Noble right after watching this vid. Thank you!
I tried the miguelrius book but the cover is so flimsy I don't know how you write on the backside missvikieb
.i bought the smaller Hobonichi and two covers last year and it cost me nearly £75 as it was over £20 for customs duty. Far too expensive. I was debating the larger Hobonichi cousin but I wouldn't try and guess how much it would cost.im sticking to my daily moleskine at around £14
Stalogy is the way to go. check them out on Amazon.
I love sailormimzy too!
What is the Japanese doodle book you mentioned?
Can you use Hobonichi cover for Miquel Ruis Notebook?
Has anyone found the Miquel Ruis in England? I have looked online and instore in Paperchase and haven't found it.
+artybohemian Thank you! I will have a look :D x
+zozizzle09 I found mine in the Brighton Paperchase, because apparently not all of them have it. And the website only has the A6 one, but the A5 one is also on Amazon:

But, I do recommend the MD notebooks too, like artybohemian; I don't think there's enough pages for one a day, but they are thinner so more portible, but you'd have to have more than one for the whole year. But they're lovely books and the paper is great - I used an A6 one for my OneBookJuly last year.
Have you ever used the Midori?
Love the orange zip case where did u get it
+The Paper Witch It's from the hobonichi store!

Hmmmm Erin Condren planner are more expensive than my hobonichi A6
Totally distracted by the awesome specs! :D
i bought mine at Barnes & Noble.
+Elena Sullivan Yes I think it's the most affordable there!
I prefer the fobonichi
I think I need a Hobonichi in the near future. I already have so many notebooks that I use, but I'm sure I could find a use for it.
+Liora Hess It's pretty wonderful!!
I wish this was done in 5 mins or less.
Miguel roo'eaze
+Anastacia Nickolai Thanks!
