Hi Justin, I know this is a long time ago but I can offer a tip about the acoustic part on this song: The first half of the song is actually played with a capo on the fifth fret... hence I'm playing it in open 'D' shape. That makes a lot of the passing notes much easier (I mostly don't play them as passing chords). Once it gets to the repeat choruses (for the playout), I double-tracked it with a normal (concert) tuned acoustic to get the rolling strum thing happening. I know it's not likely anyone will whip off a capo half way through a song (!) but I've been asked many times what inversions I'm playing as they don't seem possible on a concert tuned guitar. Well, they're not! Now you know why. Cheers... Peter
Thanks Justin, awesome lesson! The extra effort you went to break down and explain those subtle passing chords really helps to capture the original melody. Keep up the great work!!
Thanks a lot for all the effort you put in this. Your'e an awesome theacher and your singing seems to be improving a lot. I don't know any Australian songs but i realy love this one. Can't wait to see the oters.
I was in the Aussie army for 10 years and this song was kind of iconic which I could never work out cause we never fought at Khe Sanh. I'll have to ask Jimmy if I ever meat him what he was thinking when he wrote this song. Lol
Hi Justin love this version will add it to my playlist, I know you don't like requests but could you please do John Williamson "true blue" a real iconic Aussie song keep up the great work mate!
Thanks Justin for making this video, I have been eagerly waiting for a while and I can't wait until I can play it as good as you. I just have one request which is if you could please in the near future make a tutorial on how to play forever now by cold chisel, it would mean the world to me, thanks so much for the vid again!
Great stuff Justin. Can't believe I missed this when the video first came out. Mossy played in London and Milton Keynes this year; he was incredible. I'll check out the Aussie Classics Songbook for Xmas.
I was, and guess still am. a huge Chisel fan. If I could play one song on guitar it would be Bow River but the likes of Letter to Alan and others certainly pique the interest. Anyway, thanks man. Here's to Last Frontier!!!
Mate. Job well done. Now the problem. There is more to do. Would you kindly help me learn the solo parts to "When The War Is Over". It's not that difficult for the skilled, such as yourself, Bit tricky for me. Please mate.
Hey Justin, good on you for doing this book. Some great songs in there. Would you ever consider doing a book of Aussie lead guitar tabs? Not sure if it popular enough for you to do, but it's impossible to find tabs for solos by great guitarists like Ian Moss, Chris Cheney, etc or even the cool licks in INXS songs and a million others. Cjheers.
Even though im from oz I never got into cold chisel.. I don't really think he can sing... anyway each to their own I say. still a good tutorial. thx jus...
This might come as a shock, but the world isn't flat. It revolves around a big hot bright thing called the sun, and that means that different places have daylight at different times. It's 8 in the morning where I am.
+SeanJuddis I apologize, I tried to make a joke but it fell flat, I hope you'll be able to forgive one of your 1,000s of loyal followers such as my self.
I've been playing BADLY for over 20 years.....you certainly are helping me improve things ....thanks mate!!
Fully agreed mate

If you wanna sound more like Jimmy, don't shave for 3 days and drink some cheap wine
I don't think that'll help my voice but I'll give it a go anyways ;)
Trust me Justin after the cheap wine you WILL hear a difference but no-one else will.
yeah and 3 pkts of marlborough a day
& scream.. a lot!
Where in Aussie are you Justin?
followed you for years mate, and glad you popped in an aussie icon, and the vid is great, those lyrics you made are gold with the chords
Excellent lesson, thanks Justin.

Great stuff Justin. Can't believe I missed this when the video first came out. Mossy played in London and Milton Keynes this year; he was incredible. I'll check out the Aussie Classics Songbook for Xmas.
Nice arrangement Justin, never seen an acoustic cover before!
Works on acoustic alright eh!
I'm almost liking it better then the piano!
can you do some more mossy styled lessons please he's one of my favorite guitarists in the world
I was, and guess still am. a huge Chisel fan. If I could play one song on guitar it would be Bow River but the likes of Letter to Alan and others certainly pique the interest.
Anyway, thanks man. Here's to Last Frontier!!!
good and awesome as always
Omg thanks so much justin
That was gash!
I note the capo at 3rd fret but I'm not convinced Gm's the ideal key for Justin's voice. Am with capo 5th fret?
Chisoooolllll! BAWNSEY!
Khe Sahhhhhnnnnnnn!!!
Hey! Justin could you a "while my guitar gently weeps" solo and rhythm lesson?
Aussie classic.
I had no idea you lived in Aussie!
You should definitely do Flame Trees if you can, thanks! :)

Nice one mate! Any chance of Diamantina Drover (Redgum/John Williamson)?
Wish people would play a song with the correct strumming pattern the whole time through out
awesome!
Hi Justin. Can you make a lesson of Aerosmith's "Crazy"? Maybe with harmonica parts moved to fretboard :) There's no tutorial on yt for this song ;(
I know it's not English but Ai Si te Pego by Michel Teló.. Great acoustic song
I completely forgot the request part, haha. If you could teach us that, it'd be amazing. Very popular song in Portuguese speaking places
Mate. Job well done. Now the problem. There is more to do.
Would you kindly help me learn the solo parts to "When The War Is Over". It's not that difficult for the skilled, such as yourself, Bit tricky for me. Please mate.
Can you do Peter Frampton's "(I'll Give You) Money"? I have not seen any lessons on it
What guitar is he playing cause it sounds really lovely & warm and would btw look awesome next to my Taylor :))???

Can you please do Elanor rigby - zoot version?

maybe but it's a very small market me thinks - why not try and wrap your ears on it? :)
Haha it was a long shot, but I had to ask :)
Aren't accurate tabs a no-no from a copyright perspective these days?
awesome to see a cold chisel song, looks pretty fun to play. are you aussie or english Justin???
Both. Aussie mum, Pomme dad! Grew up in Aus, live in UK last 20 years!

Cheers!
