Don't you DARE slag off this show!!!!!! One of the greatest cancelled too early programmes BBC Three gave us, along with 'The Fades' and 'In The Flesh'.
I'm glad you referenced Pets in there. I love both shows equally, although Mongrels is definitely more mainstream as Pets was aired in the very early hours of the morning.
Great video👍🏻 and absolutely loved the song at the end. 26:14-27:35 I am so glad someone else remembers this series. I only saw a few episodes shortly before it was taken of TV then life went on and it just faded away from my memory, then two months ago I remembered it and decided to buy the DVD box set and I’m never getting rid of it.
Just came across this review, and I enjoyed the whole thing. Very well detailed and full of info! Mongrels was the show that got me into Puppeteering and I got to meet two of the Puppeteers in 2020, though the show deserves a 3rd Season. Who agrees?
@@HeadphonesUK Well, I did try to pitch a Vince Spin Off to Talk to the Hand when I met them, never happened. But it did return in 2020 for Nelson’s Self Isolation which was a short film about Nelson, which is this: m.ua-cam.com/video/YU1ORZ5pbpo/v-deo.html I’m hoping it’ll get reruns on the new BBC Three Channel
@@LILjohno BBC three has changed its image a lot since this show was on, so I don’t know if they’ll do that It’s not really the ‘try out channel’ anymore
@@HeadphonesUK Yeah, I suppose. They’ve been airing Two Pints of Lager again since October 1st, but I agree on the whole Image thing. Originally my planned Vince spin off was more centered on just Vince being Vince really
Now that I’ve fully seen the show, I can make a proper comment on it Overall, I absolutely adored it. It has got to be one of the funniest shows I’ve seen in a while. Despite how dark it can get at points, I always enjoy it because the show never feels malicious. The dark humour is often times satirical or it’s just really well done so the show is really funny. It is definitely sad that it was cancelled so soon however I think it was for the best as it is definitely a show which would become crap VERY quickly if it continued One more thing, I may or may not have performed a version of Middle Class is Magical to my friends 😅
I'd rather the show only got two seasons and never lost it's touch then kept going and went all Family Guy. You could already feel it losing some of it by the end of season 2, as you yourself pointed out. It was great while it lasted, i'm greatful for that
@@huckthefox not sure how to feel seeing a official account of Huck I’m disturbed beyond belief that a fox with human speech commented to me *falls down a spiral of overthinking
I'd love to see some Game Of Thrones fans watch this show, I don't know if Paul Kaye got enough recognition for what he did in either series. I'd maybe argue that "What A Difference A Day Makes" was their best song, but otherwise, really good video
to be clear, the fact that Destiny rejects Nelson again and again is not a running joke, its a central part of his character, he is a timid, middleclass metrosexual fox, and is incapable of being the sort of tough guy that Destiny responds to, so much so that even though he does mention it once or twice he is too cowardly to act on his desires
If you liked Mongrels then you'll probably enjoy Fur TV. The pilot went out on BBC2 but sdaly wasn't taken up , perhaps because it was even more risque than this. the good news is MTV did.
hi have watch this show a big ace it was very funny show loved it big time just don't let young one watch it i kind of saw the re run on the i player why it got stopped i never know
Refreshing as fk to hear a guy who is intelligent in the way he clearly thinks for himself. Y'know the kinda guy who doesn't join in a mob hanging and might say something like "how about we don't do this?" As the rest just go along coz why stand out right.. anyway insane metaphors aside I like this channel. But dude there's a joke in here that is to me clearly why they were cancelled. And for just having it on here you might get in trouble, I'll not point it out but don't be surprised. Hope to see much more videos. Shalom
i have never heard of this show but i might check it out knowing my very dark sense of humor. cause not a lot of scripted stuff can make me laugh. also idk why he held up a 1911 and said it was a 9mm they are famously .45 acp and not many people know one platform can be cambered in different rounds and i don't think you guys in the uk.
Anybody who does not like mongrels has absolutely no sense of humour or taste! Mongrels is the best show that BBC three has ever released, it has the cleverest writing of any British sitcom, it doesn’t rely on only Toilet or shock humour. If you don’t get the jokes in mongrel, then you’re just flat out not intelligent enough for that show.
"To be fair you have to have a very high IQ to enjoy Mongrels." LOL Can you be anymore pretentious? I like the show too but humor is subjective, what's funny to one person might not be funny for someone else get over yourself

100% this comment! Mongrels is beyond criticism!!

Of course this show is great, it has foxes in it! Anything with foxes in it will always be awesome

That explains a lot, I think I do remember seeing bits of that show when I would get up early as a little kid
@@HeadphonesUK fair enough. :) I first saw it a few years ago when it was available as a video podcast on iTunes. :)
I have fond memories of watching this show on BBC Three back in 2010\11 😊
I never saw it on live TV, I only watched the whole show for the first time last year
@HeadphonesUK my favourite song from Mongrels was The Chicken Song sung by Vince in the first episode of the series. It's really funny 🤣

Third, fourth, and fifth series. With a proper bedget. And advertising. And not being moved around the schedule so nobody can find it.
Loved the review! Thank you so much for inviting me on!
Great to have you there
Thanks for coming along
Has that scratch healed completely yet?

Loved this review and once again thanks for having me
Great having you there
Thanks for joining in
Where exactly did you get bit? I didn't see the episode.
I loved Mongrels and I think BBC made a huge mistake cancelling it
Vince actually does remind me a lot of Basil's cousin Mortimer from The Basil Brush Show
That's what I was thinking

My first time watching anything from this channel. But it was Mongrels, so i clicked. Also, the cute Fox mascot sidekick kinda got my attention too.
