      @@THROTTLEPOWER so I started out with gaslands at 1/64th not knowing that they say it's the most extreme difficulty on the spectrum. Now that I'm trying to do "clean customs" it's actually beneficial that I did that because I don't know any better to think outside the box. I actually think the post apocalyptic builds are easier for me. Doing it at a bigger scale will be a challenge but may bring some relief as it's not as intricate as the hot wheels. Still alot of work and more to learn but I'm excited to give it a try

    Can I just add one thing about this tour of your hobbytown usa store? I expect to have certain plastic models; that have a strong reference to the Marvel and DC Comic book heroes and villains. As of for an example; of what's from Mattel's Secret Wars action figures collection. That's Dr. Doom's doom roller. This vehicle is shaped like a 2 door sports car, encased in a railroad track thats one continuous loop.This doom roller was really a battery powered toy, back then in 1985.🔋💪

My daughter and I love the older stuff and some of the older Thomas Trackmaster and are always trying to find old, new stock. Hobby/train stores tend to be good people that don't jack prices up. Thrill would be building walking up to that behemoth Hobby shop. It hurts every time some one mentions Testors Enamels. What's next no more pizza? So thrilled so many sissys' caused Testors to make that crappy decision. Yet lacquers floursh. Go figure. We can take lacquer smell but we hate enamel smell. Great shop. All that is missing is the smell & staggering check out total. At least Revell came out with a line of enamels.

    • @THROTTLEPOWER

      @THROTTLEPOWER  2 роки тому

      I've been thinking about this some more James and I don't even recall seeing any built at all the model contests I go to. I know I always dreamed about building a big wooden Pirate ship and displaying in the house.

    • @jamesquick412
      @jamesquick412 2 роки тому +1

      Very interesting Throttle Power. I did a bit of digging on the interwebs and found that there are companies still producing these wooden kits. Occre and Artesania Latina in Spain as well as Amati and Mantua in Italy.
      As for here in America, I could only find 2 - Bluejacket Shipcrafters in Maine, although I saw it's in the process of being sold and Model Shipways which is owned by Model Expo down in Hollywood Florida.
      What I don't understand is why don't we see any of these companies' products on the shelves?? My only conclusion can be this: the retail hobby industry must have made the decision that there are far fewer people who are interested in building wood ship kits than there are folks who like RC cars and trucks for instance. I guess it doesn't make sense for the retailers to stock their shelves with products that don't sell and produce a profit.
      It looks to me that this hobby has turned into an internet only type of thing. Interestingly, the Spanish company I mentioned earlier, Occre, recently came out with a sizable wood kit of the Titanic
