I live in Indy and have been going to them for 14-15 years. They did have multiple locations but I think they have consolidated into one. Use to be a huge selection of R/C planes. I'm glad to see they are still opened, they have moved several times now.

@@JaysDiecastCreations Aaaaa cool, they all sound like they will be fun builds! I've been (kinda) getting into the post apocalyptic builds also. They are REALLY fun as you can do what ever you want to them and no one can say you did something wrong. Plus they just let your imagination flow that is sooooooooo relaxing when building them.

Now that I'm trying to do "clean customs" it's actually beneficial that I did that because I don't know any better to think outside the box. I actually think the post apocalyptic builds are easier for me. Doing it at a bigger scale will be a challenge but may bring some relief as it's not as intricate as the hot wheels. Still alot of work and more to learn but I'm excited to give it a try

I was at that Hobbytown earlier this year. Bought some paint. I was impressed with the store. And I live in Chicago near the largest Hobbytown in illinois.
We used to have a Hobby Town USA where I live but not nearly the super store that one is. I used to love going in there, they always had whatever paint I was looking for, or part I needed for my r/c boats. Sadly, the store closed a few years ago. Now all we have is Hobby Lobby and Michael's and they have a decent selection of model kits, tools, and paints...etc, but just not the same as Hobby Town.
Yea, sadly it seems that the hobby shops are slowly disappearing year after year. I guess Hobby Lobby and Michaels is better then nothing but they will never be able to take the place of a nice hobby shop or your Hobby Town USA.
@@seamybmw Hmmmmm interesting. I still need to do my local hobby shop. All the shops I did were 2 1/2 - 4 1/12 hours North of me. I'm SUPER lucky Seamy that my local shop is a good one. The owner is a model builder which makes it nice. Plus on most Saturday nights a lot of us guys meet there after the shop closes and we set up tables, chairs and lights and build for about 4 hours. Really a fun time.
Go to the HobbyTown in Granger Indiana and it’s exactly the same store only smaller version they have a lot of the same stuff but not as big a selection of that makes sense thank you for posting very cool
WOW! It is a WELL STOCKED hobby shop! I'm glad to see a hobby shop like that. All the great hobby shops that I used to shop are out of business now. It's a shame but kids these days are more into video games, not building models. They probably couldn't afford it now anyway. The 1/25 car kits are too expensive, those kits that I used to buy for $2.50 are now $29! 😢
Can I just add one thing about this tour of your hobbytown usa store? I expect to have certain plastic models; that have a strong reference to the Marvel and DC Comic book heroes and villains. As of for an example; of what's from Mattel's Secret Wars action figures collection. That's Dr. Doom's doom roller. This vehicle is shaped like a 2 door sports car, encased in a railroad track thats one continuous loop.This doom roller was really a battery powered toy, back then in 1985.🔋💪
They closed the Hobby Town here about 2 years ago 😔. Looks like yours is a Good one. Have you tried the Vallejo sprays?? The LHS here just got them in but haven't heard of any body that has tried them yet??? Thanks for sharing.
Indianapolis had 2 of them. One on the South side and this one on the North side, both owned by the same people. The wife ran the South side store that they just closed about a year ago and the husband runs the North side store (the one in the video). They are getting ready to retire so not sure how long this store will be going.

Finally gonna start my 1/350 Ranger CV-4. The included paint chart depicts the 1944 "dazzle" paint scheme, which I won't attempt doing due to how complex it is. Instead, I'll do her earlier Sea Blue/Haze Gray scheme as she was painted in '42 and '43 (pre-war, she was simply painted Haze Gray overall).
Here in Phoenix Arizona we had 3 hobby town hobby shops one with a indoor go-kart track video games indoor RC track slot car track not sure why they pulled out of Arizona
Probably not on your radar, but was wondering if you have noticed any of the Thomas Wooden Railway or the older Thomas the tank engine from Learning Curve in any of the shops you go in in and around Indy? My daughter and I love the older stuff and some of the older Thomas Trackmaster and are always trying to find old, new stock. Hobby/train stores tend to be good people that don't jack prices up. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry if this is off topic.
Yea, I haven't noticed...... But speaking of train stores, there is a train store on the East side of Indy on East Washington St. that many people do not know about. It's called Train Central. They might be able to help or possible give you a lead. Sorry I'm not much help...... 🙁 Also give Hobby Town a call (the one in this video) because they had a large train department and all the workers were friendly.
Thrill would be building walking up to that behemoth Hobby shop. It hurts every time some one mentions Testors Enamels. What's next no more pizza? So thrilled so many sissys' caused Testors to make that crappy decision. Yet lacquers floursh. Go figure. We can take lacquer smell but we hate enamel smell. Great shop. All that is missing is the smell & staggering check out total. At least Revell came out with a line of enamels.

I've been thinking about this some more James and I don't even recall seeing any built at all the model contests I go to. I know I always dreamed about building a big wooden Pirate ship and displaying in the house.
Very interesting Throttle Power. I did a bit of digging on the interwebs and found that there are companies still producing these wooden kits. Occre and Artesania Latina in Spain as well as Amati and Mantua in Italy. As for here in America, I could only find 2 - Bluejacket Shipcrafters in Maine, although I saw it's in the process of being sold and Model Shipways which is owned by Model Expo down in Hollywood Florida. What I don't understand is why don't we see any of these companies' products on the shelves?? My only conclusion can be this: the retail hobby industry must have made the decision that there are far fewer people who are interested in building wood ship kits than there are folks who like RC cars and trucks for instance. I guess it doesn't make sense for the retailers to stock their shelves with products that don't sell and produce a profit. It looks to me that this hobby has turned into an internet only type of thing. Interestingly, the Spanish company I mentioned earlier, Occre, recently came out with a sizable wood kit of the Titanic
@@THROTTLEPOWER Basically everything. But it’s just some kits that should be $27 he’ll charge $37. But I was told by a guy that works at Ollie’s who’s friends with the owner that’s wha he does. It’s not every kit just a lot where you’d be like wow if u seen the price. I’ve bought kits from hobby lobby, and mom n pop shops same kits that are cheaper than hobby town. The even charge $15 for one bottle of Vallejo metal color paint lol. You can get the kit from hobby lobby for bout $20-$23.

That's a good question James. Now that you mentioned it I don't recall seeing any in a long time, even at the model contest swap meets.
I've been thinking about this some more James and I don't even recall seeing any built at all the model contests I go to. I know I always dreamed about building a big wooden Pirate ship and displaying in the house.
Very interesting Throttle Power. I did a bit of digging on the interwebs and found that there are companies still producing these wooden kits. Occre and Artesania Latina in Spain as well as Amati and Mantua in Italy.
As for here in America, I could only find 2 - Bluejacket Shipcrafters in Maine, although I saw it's in the process of being sold and Model Shipways which is owned by Model Expo down in Hollywood Florida.
What I don't understand is why don't we see any of these companies' products on the shelves?? My only conclusion can be this: the retail hobby industry must have made the decision that there are far fewer people who are interested in building wood ship kits than there are folks who like RC cars and trucks for instance. I guess it doesn't make sense for the retailers to stock their shelves with products that don't sell and produce a profit.
It looks to me that this hobby has turned into an internet only type of thing. Interestingly, the Spanish company I mentioned earlier, Occre, recently came out with a sizable wood kit of the Titanic

My hobby town isn’t too bad. The only thing I don’t like is the owner up sales kit by $10 I found out.

@@THROTTLEPOWER Basically everything. But it’s just some kits that should be $27 he’ll charge $37. But I was told by a guy that works at Ollie’s who’s friends with the owner that’s wha he does. It’s not every kit just a lot where you’d be like wow if u seen the price. I’ve bought kits from hobby lobby, and mom n pop shops same kits that are cheaper than hobby town. The even charge $15 for one bottle of Vallejo metal color paint lol. You can get the kit from hobby lobby for bout $20-$23.

They were super busy Tim so there was lot's of stuff I didn't show in respect to keeping people off camera. Other wise I would have. I think that was at the front door as you leave if I remember correctly?

I don't know........ Couldn't film everything as they were very busy. Do you fly Drones? I'm wanting to get a small basic one with a camera and am not sure what to get.

Well fills is the closest hobby shop and we have Hobby Lobby and Michael's we used to have a Hobby Town
