- Join me this week as I take you around one of the finest country houses that the English countryside has to offer. Chatsworth House is a magnificent estate that is the home of the Dukes of Devonshire for the last five centuries. In today's episode I take you inside the house itself and share some of it's finest rooms such as The Painted Hall and The Chapel. I also take you around the gardens and then to the Estate Villages of Edensor and Beeley.

American/Anglophile here... last fall, after Covid quashed my original trip, I was finally able to make it to the Peak and Chatsworth. If there are any out there who found this video while investigating/considering and on the fence - don't be! Chatsworth was everything I imagined and more. And lucky me, while I was there the Duke was giving a personal tour and I was able to meet and chat with him. I spent an entire day there and loved every second. Magnificent! I was also able to hike some of the beautiful Peak District, also a dream realized. One of the most gorgeous places on Earth!
I'm very Lucky to have been born in this Region. I Love every bit of it

Thank you for your kind words, I live in the Peak District and it truly is an honour to live here.
Very nice video, I very much like your approach and soft voice as well as the beautiful, music. One interesting detail, the walls in the room shown at 5.20-5.30 are covered in Spanish embossed and gilded leather; a decorative feature as rare as expensive which disappeared towards the end of the 17th century to be replaced by wallpaper. The lovely villages of Edensor and Beeley are a nice bonus. Sorry about the rain! Regards. Claudio
Wow what a great vlog so informative I think it's your best one yet
Thank you! ❤️🙏

I only discovered your channel recently, but I love it. The way you film is perfect...not too fast, not to slow, just right. You have an eye for artistic detail, and framing a scene, though with the marvelous Chatsworth, you had beauty at every turn. I've long been an Anglophile (grandfather emigrated from Nottingham to Los Angeles, California in 1925), and years ago I found a decorative tin of The Duchess of Devonshire's Fine Tea at an import store, and have been fascinated with Chatsworth ever since. The work done by Capability Brown and Paxton at the estate is so very impressive, and worth researching. Monty Don includes Chatsworth in his series The Secret History of the British Garden.

My favourite country house. Love how it sits in the land around. You don't even see and telegraph poles or electricity Pylons. So you can imagine how it was all those years ago. ❤😍
We live about 20 miles away and visit quite often. Have you visited the house when it has the Christmas decorations - they are fabulous.
If u go into the little village endosor jfk sister is buried in the church yard
Wow.
❤️
A dream come true, to see this, thank you so much!
I've been there and such a elegant mansion ❤
This is one of the most spectacular houses I’ve ever seen. It’s like something out of a fantasy
You are something else. Your
Videos are a cut above the rest. Thank you.
Wow, I wish I could return to England again to see more of her grand properties. I appreciate how knowledgeable you are about the history and life of the places you take me to. I look forward to seeing where you take me to next. 🧳

Thank you for another great video. I started following your vlog in May of this year. My husband and I were about to leave for a 2- week trip to England and I was watching a lot of UA-cam videos those days that covered the English countryside. I guess something has to be said about the AI generated algorithms- because your Brockhampton video appeared in my UA-cam feed and it was so impressive that we made changes in our plan and ended visiting that beautiful medieval manor house and something you said really stuck with me about how amazing areas like Herefordshire, Worcester, Staffordshire and the like are and they do not get as much visitors as more famous areas like Cotswolds , Bath etc. It was thanks to you that we got inspired and stayed in Ludlow, Shropshire and it was while being based there we drove to Brockhampton and Stockesay Castle. I am in your debt because the time spent there is hands down our favorite part of the entire visit. Thank you .
I completely agree that the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice is amazing! I watch it every year.
Lovely tour. Thanks.
Pleased you enjoyed it 😊 Happy Sunday!
Enjoyed this very much ❣️ Always enjoy your music selections❣️ Also, all the history. Thanks 🌹

Awesome video Stacy, I love that place, another one just on our doorstep! The painting of Georgaina is one of my favourites. Your vids are better than any TV programme! ❤❤

This is my vision of Pemberley!
My now husband proposed to me, on blended knee, at the top of the water steps, in the water, about 30 years ago! It was his second plea for my hand. The first one having been declined…… at the Taj Mahal!
From the US and never been to UK but Bess of Hardwick is my 13x great grandmother. I love watching videos about the estates/ family as it transports me there! Maybe someday I’ll be able to visit in real life.
Omg I got so much deja vu when watching this omg,Its been so long since I have been there! I very much indeed miss this place
I love watching your channel! What a beautiful country you have!
I am an American and I live in Southeast Texas. Right now, Monday July 24, 2023 it is 102⁰F (38.8⁰C) outside........and rain??? What's rain?
Where I live it's usually green and usually has days of rain and sun. It is usually hot - not 104⁰F (40⁰C) hot - especially since we're not on the water.
Before July 2023 the weather had been unusual in that it stayed unseasonably cool even through June ~ oh, how wonderful 😊 and heavenly 😁!
Then comes July 🥵 High heat - up to 104⁰F (40⁰C)! We are paying for the cooler May and June 😂
As your an American if u visit chatsworth jfk sister is buried there
@@annwalker5895 That's interesting. I'm also a Roman Catholic as the whole Kennedy Clan was (still is, lol). I would love to visit Chatsworth! It is a beautiful place! Thank you for the information.

Splendid! Thank you so much.
Enjoyed reliving my visit there. Exceptionally well done video, thanks
So relaxing to watch and listen. Love it. BBC P and P is my favorite too. Thank you bringing it to life. ❤️
The gardens are simply stunning.
In all honesty thats how i picture England not the modern highscrapers of Manchester or London...but this authentic medievel vibe plus a little rain 😊 dont know ppl if you ve been to Copenhagen, but they have lots of communities where ppl live in 500 yo houses ,also just north of the capital there is a huge open air etnograpic museum, possibly biggest in Europe..
Quaintness beats grandeur, and warms the heart . .. although grandeur is awesome to witness!!!
Thank you for these videos. I miss England so much, but don't know when I will ever get back. I have been sitting here knitting while enjoying the music and beautiful countryside.
Your history delivery is just spot on, I reckon you are like me a history buff! Your films impart a wonderful calm atmosphere, thank you so much.💐

Missing you all. Hoped for a new video this week! Hope you come back.
That was a lovely message to read 🥰🙏 I hadn’t intended to take a break but I was struggling to travel, film, edit and upload while Heidi has been off school for the summer holidays so I made the decision to take a break and focus these last few weeks on time together with her. I’ve been sat editing a video today though so there will be a new video this Sunday and normal weekly scheduling will resume ❤️ I’ve got a lot to share and a very full calendar for autumn & winter so plenty of videos incoming ☺️ See you soon!
Thanks!
Thank you so much Brian! Glad you’ve enjoyed this video tour around Chatsworth ☺️ Have a wonderful week 🙏
Thank you so much :) No crowds? when can that be?.
The claim around the 4:40 mark that £600 in 1549 was worth around £165,000 is, as I suspected. wildly inaccurate! £600 back then is well over £500,000! 😮
I would rather live in the village ! ❤
Its amazing how rich some people are at others expense an how poor others are.
❤
I'm about 15 miles away. Worked on Hardwick Hall .Bess of Hardwicks House a Very Formidable woman. All her Husbands died in mysterious circumstances. Moral of the story be her Friend but don't Marry .😮
How come there is not a single person in the garden when you were shooting ?!
Because I’m patient and wait for each view/scene to be empty 🤷♀️
Now these people have some Grey Poupon.
Just imagine how many people lived in extreame povetry to support such a luxury houses for “upper class”. Child labor, drug trade, slavery, genocide of native population in colonies, that all you can see inside that beautiful houses, all those horrible things were absolutely legal and super profitable.
But Morally Wrong.
It’s history get over it, why not worry about modern day slavery which is still happening all over the world and just enjoy the beauty of these places every civilisation was built on slavery but that doesn’t stop us enjoying the structures they built like the pyramids the Taj Mahal the Mayan temples etc etc etc. the past was in parts violent and morally bankrupt and not lived by todays standards. A small minority of people with great influence did terrible things to their own people like Victorian child labour in the U.K., concentration camps in Europe and African slavery where Africans were sold to Europeans by other Africans, the Barbary slave trade where Europeans were forced into slavery by North Africans. Humans can be awful but also lovely, all we can do is try to learn from the past
It was good enough for jfk sister 2 b buried there not many people no that
Yes .
105 acre garden????
