Your camera work is absolutely gorgeous and so pristine only to be matched by your thoroughly engaging storytelling and architectural details. Looking forward to more. 😊
I hate to say this because it limits me but the Robert Adams style is my personal favorite from the many UK architectural styles. Yes, I still love English Palladian, Vanbrugh, Robert Kerr (Yes I do!) and the warmth of Tudor but the Adams style is so perfect and grand but you could live there. Also, remove all the decorative trimmings and even color and you still have a pretty house; inside and out.
I visited Newby Hall last year, so it is good to see it again. When I was there the wonderful long borders were at their best, and the tour of the house was fascinating.
Brilliant work. Absolutely loved it. Well narrated and packed with information. I subscribed and look forward to watching more content both old and new.
@@XploreheritageI can imagine a lot of Englishmen traveling by boat to China and parts of Asia and Africa. I think the first European country to invade Africa was Portugal
Please do a video on Berington hall in Hertfordshire as it is a perfect example of English neo classical architecture inside and out with its staircase being caped by a glass dome
Sorry, but Highclere Castle is the “real” Downton Abbey as that’s where Downton Abbey was actually filmed. However, Newby Hall would certainly also have been a wonderful setting for the show!
I do want to respect the parkland of these homes, but the agricultural portion of the property needs reinvisioning, and a portion of the parkland may have to be surrendered to realize the greatest potential for the property. For our epoch, these houses need to realize their greatest potential. The parkland is a business opportunity as are the gardens, it depends on how successful Adam Smith's design for society, but I'm sure that there will be plenty commissions to paint gardens and parkland, and the house gets 10%. I want to recreate Newby Hall for myself. It would make a nice Plantation home.
Lady Mary was not heiress to the estate. That was literally the entire plot of the 1st season of the show. The estate was entailed, meaning that it had to pass to the eldest male relative who would also inherit the title. That’s why Matthew was set to inherit both the earldom and the estate from lord Grantham after the death of Granthams cousin and his son on the titanic. That’s why Mary and Matthews son will be the next Earl Grantham. How Mary got her hands on part of the estate is too long and convoluted to go over here 😳😳😳😳😳
This is NOT The Real Downton Abbey... Come on ...Cute as this house is... Its NOT in the same League as Highclere Castle...I've visited Newby a couple of times...Its really nice and worth seeing BUT !!!!!!!!!!
Your channel is very good and important for eudicational reasons and your attention to detail in the rooms is unmatched by any other. Keep up the good work in helping people to take the time to go to these wonderful historic houses. Greetings from Ireland

Bless you Lisa! You made my day 🙏
@@Xploreheritage Aww, you're so well deserving. ps: I see a broadcast series in the making.😉
What a flirt 😊
Newby Hall reminds me a bit of Stoneleigh Abbey.

Beautiful house and video!
Thank you 🙏
@@Xploreheritageu can imagine how the homes were heavily impacted by the wars. A lot of conflicts back then amongst the UK and other countries.
Good to see it's still standing and being maintained properly, I hope to visit in the near future.
I subscribed. Love your content. It is new to me
Thanks so much 🙏

Highclere wasn't the inspiration for the story. So you're right to be sorry, you're wrong.
@@smoath I didn’t say it was the inspiration for the show. I clearly said the show was filmed at Highclere. So I am not wrong at all.
@@janinestearns7288 you didn't have to say that to be wrong. You're wrong. Be sorry.
đã thông qua khu vực này.
Was location for BBC Selfridge, Selfridge's fiance's family home, I believe.
Created prior to the phrase "less is more"
😅😅😅😅well information good show 😅
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video did you have tk het special permission to film as i jave read they only do guided tours and no photography is allowed?
Thanks so much. You can’t ordinarily film/take photos within the house, but I did have permission 👍
It's beautiful. Was this where the American filming of pride and predjudice was filmed?
I don’t believe so, but I could be wrong!
@@Xploreheritage Thx

If this was the inspiration for Downton Abbey wwhy was it filmed at Highclere?
They went looking for a place to film after the book/script was written, didn't they?

The show is way to complicated
This video gives inspiration to current builders and designers. Hopefully the styles can have a Renaissance in modern day architecture! 🏛️
That would be marvellous 🙌
Of course Highclere castle is the real Downton abby as that's were it is filmed
The real Downton Abbey is Highclere Castle.
Highclere castle is the real Downton abbey
NOT a fan of Robert Adam. Old lady Wedgewood. Give me an English Baroque interior any day of the week. GREAT preserved example though.

Is this estate connected to slavery or colonialism?
Wimpole Hall in Cambridgeshire is a much better, nicer looking building. This place is absolutely ghastly in comparison 🤢🤮
