Yes, the gentleman-of-the-castle seems to have that rare quality of being both affable (friendly) and yet astute and erudite at the same time ...a very rare and balanced personality. Monsieur de Baritault: please do more videos and perhaps have your own channel. You are a natural, gifted presenter. Thank you very much! Beautifully done.
You might own the castle but anyone watching can see it owns your heart, and in the modern age lives and breaths through you. You clearly see yourself as a custodian of history. It's easy to be jealous but owning a castle probably takes over your life, your lucky that you have the passion to do this, and so are we!
I was a guide tour there 35 years ago (and am part of the family). Still I've learnt so much! Bravo and thank you Sebastian for a wonderful tour of the castle.
I thoroughly enjoyed the owners' very knowledgeable history about his castle. The architecture and tiling in the Church was just mind blowing. You will never find such beauty and craftsmanship in today's age. I hope to visit one day 😊
What a great gentleman. He was obviously born very privileged and could've easily gone down the path of cavalier indifference and reckless prodigality. However, his passion for history and his property make him and ideal custodian and guardian of not only his family's but France's heritage. Was very pleased to get to know more about the castle and the man caring for it.
"He was obviously born very privileged", not necessarily, the wealth of these old estates was in the land that they controlled and I doubt that they own much more than the grounds that this castle is on which they make their money off of by giving tours. The landed aristocracy pretty much went broke all over Europe by the 19th century or before. What is amazing is that the family back in the day put so much money into an old castle, most of them just left them to rot or used the stone to build a more modern house.
My farm in Virginia has been in the family for over 300 years it was a King George land grant of 1722. This is amazing for any family to be able to keep anything for that long in the same family for 700 years! Congratulations not just the castle or the upkeep but keeping the line going!!! Deo Vindice

What? He forgot to mention diseases when sieging. And does that actually make a toilet that dumps outside the castle an integral part of the siege defense?

Just an amazing documentary! He doesnt give us a summarized history of the castle, he goes in depth about the smaller details which is what always gets my curiosity.
Anyone else suddenly seized by a tremendous urge to go to France? How lucky they are across the pond to be surrounded by such history! Thank you for sharing, sir.
I don't know. France is letting way too many violent Islamic and Algerian migrants in, and recently they've been spreading to the countryside. Not a people I would want to interact with or be around. I really want to visit historic French structures like old cathedrals, castles and such, but their lax border policies make it distasteful.

Wonderful video of the castle’s history, the family and the restoration/conservation. Mr de Baritault is a born narrator. I really enjoyed listening to his story. Great English by the way.👍
Magnificent legacy. What makes it more difficult is to maintain such an expensive castle through different times. I'm sure the owner is wealthy, but to keep wealthy for 700 years through the revolution, Napoleon, WW1 and 2 is something.
The historical narration is very informative. Glad the chateau remained in the family for such a long period of time. The eventual completion of those frescoes would be satisfying to all. Maybe the rooms could be opened to the public without restoration. Many people welcome small imperfections. Keep up the good work.

Absolutely stunning. Beautiful beyond mere words.
Incredible and especially, incredible english skills... it's so rare to have French people with such a good accent and fluent like this.
The Leduc connection was an unexpected twist. What an incredible artistic heritage that place contains in addition to the immense historical significance. Clearly there is something charmed about that site to be so blessed with such vibrant activity as well as continuity.
The gentleman-of-the-castle seems to have that rare quality of being both affable (friendly) and yet astute and erudite at the same time ...a very rare and balanced personality. Would LOVE to see this exquisitely painted/decorated and renovated castle someday. What an amazing "Father-of-Art Nouveau" artist and architect was Viollet-le-Duc! The colors in the second room featured ...the dining room I think, so keenly remind me of the animal and decorative motifs and the colors of yellow, mauve, red, and pale turquoise (or pale Wedgwood blue?) of the artist Brumidi who painted the corridors of the U.S.A. Capitol Building. Simply exquisite dining room!! Thank you for the tour and charmingly informative information!

Excellent video. Especially the host. Only bad thing is that it is too short. Thank you to the Vicomte Sébastien de Baritault du Carpia. You are a worthy keeper of your family's 700 year history at this wonderful place. I'm not too keen on Viollet-le-duc and his alterations. Hope to visit some day. Vive La France.
Chapel is absolutely incredible. Chateau’s interior beyond words. If I manage another trip to Europe would love to visit what is now a growing list of these magnificent buildings. Love to hear the history of the both the people and the construction.
The castle walls . Flows. WITH different colors. , VERY nice with al l the windows lllll. Other side looks like a prison with no windows !!!!! The inner Court yard is very. Attractive !!!!! The Grand Staircase is so Wonderful !!!!! The. Red room. Fireplace is Magnificent !!!!!! So is the other Fire place !!!! Wish we could see more in the future !!!!! Thank you for letting us into you Home Teresa ,,, Hayward. California. USA
Excellent !!! One of the best - if not THE BEST - tours in this series !!! Congratulations and Thank You !!! All the best in your restoration works.
what an amazing home, tour and tour guide! its also just amazing that it has been in his family for 700 years. i dont even know who my paternal great grandfather is from the early 20th century let alone a single thing about 700 years ago. very cool to see others with so much knowledge of their family history and the story of the property theyve owned for so long.
Just an amazing documentary! He doesnt give us a summarized history of the castle, he goes in depth about the smaller details which is what always gets my curiosity.
A grand seat with able and passionate guardians. Beautiful.
That was totally fascinating and so well presented. Many thanks.
@@feudinggreeks3316We can only hope these structures don't get a taste of "cultural enrichment".
Absolutely fascinating! I loved your narration and the history of the chateau. The old castle : I'd love to see more of since after 25 years of work, I've recently completed my family tree tracing back to Charlemagne and the Merovingian kings. Thanks and greetings from Australia.
Yeah same dude, I although only going down one of my great grandparents line have traced all the way back to Norman nobles within early creation of Scottish clans (I’m English btw)
tree to charlemagne en merovingian kings..... ROLF!!!!!! This is the most ridiculous comment of the year
Absolutely BRILLIANT!! Your intimate knowledge of the Chateau, attention to detail and passion for the subject make this “little” documentary one of the heaviest hitters I’ve ever seen! Looking forward to spending the afternoon watching the other episodes…
This 30 minute flew like 5 seconds. This man is really classy spokesman, and guide. Could've listen to him for hours.
Thank you. This is a most insightful presentation. Violet's work remains outstanding, especially in modern times.
Thank you soooo much for allowing us into your home. I LOVE it. I'd love to be able to come visit one day. Last year I visited castles in Romania. This year will be Scotland and England. Someday it will be France. Thank you again!
Sir, your family chateau is beautiful & full of History! I love the dining hall with its painted arches that reminds one of the glorious past.Thank you.

Thank you for the wonderful history and tour. What a beautiful place. Hello from the mountains of Central Arizona, USA.
I praise the patience of these artisans & marvel at the visionaries who made these magnificent, elegant interiors/ buildings possible.
These places will be enjoyed by generations of people. Once seen never forgotten.❤

Wow! This American can only dream of seeing something this old. I love genealogy and I would love to see their family lineage. Thank you for the wonderful video ❤
such a fascinating story! the owner is an amazing storyteller, i loved how he transported us into the medieval times
What a masterful presentation by this gentleman. Wonderful display of knowledge with great amount of interesting presentation.
Absolutely stunning. Beautiful beyond mere words. I know realistically that we can’t preserve every building from the medieval time period, and lots of structures from that time period have been lost to the insidious passing of time, but I am so happy that this beautiful castle has been preserved and is being restored to its glory. I can’t wait to see the finished project!
What an absolutely charming presentation of a beautiful castle! I really appreciated the "sneaky" humor mixed in with the descriptions! (ex: "If you've read the classics, Harry Potter number two.") Sébastien de Baritault is a natural in front of the camera! I could have watched a two-hour tour and still felt it too short!
I concur with many comments here, the owner/presenter of this episode is well versed and speaks clearly and to the point, makes the whole journey to the past through this castle very enjoyable and entertaining.
Thank you for the tour in such a magnificent castle and a wonderful history lesson. It was an honour to watch it and learn about the craftment, art and architecture. Pure masterpiece.
Thankyou for opening your beautiful Chateau to us! Really appreciate your gift to us!
What a wonderful and informative tour. ThankYou for sharing!
Marvelous tour of a marvelous chateau. You did a superb job of the information, old and new. Thank you! I am subscribing as I can’t wait to see more. 🇨🇦👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
His sense of humour is very refreshing 😂😂😂
