Denon Prime series are media players for DJs who made suggestions in the past and ask Denon and Pioneer to push the limit. Pioneer reply was a plastic media player with a BIG $2000.00 plus tag on it that doesn't do anything out of the ordinary. You can't do remixes on the fly without another piece of pioneer gear that cost anywhere from $600 to $1000. So I'm convinced Pioneer goal is just shut up and pay for the industry standard...because everybody seems to think that's the main focus. Industry standard to me is the vinyl feel and a moving platter. Now lets talk about Denon approach to what DJs ask of them...
    1. They made it universal with other dj software other then Engine WiFi and streaming ability
    2. They made it well built...meaning very little plastic unlike FISHER OVER PRICE PIONEER
    3. They made it with plenty inputs 3USB, 1SD and HOLY SH!T a 1TB internal Harddrive 2 players in 1. Pioneer makes you get 4 players because it looks good when they know you only need 2
    4. They made it with a moving platter and without you have a choice with Denon not 16 different players with the only difference being 2 buttons and every letter in the alphabet infront of CDJ example the NEW Pioneer MNCVDFSRWDA-CDJ $4199.99 ea. Lol pioneer only care about how much can we get if we add 1 extra button.
    5. Most IMPORTANT They CRUSHED PIONEER once again with a player who will make people who respect the DJ world keep it hands on and not depend on laptops.
Just for the record if a toy feeling piece of plastic is the industry standard then Technics SL-1200s and vinyl records must be a fairytale like flying unicorns over rainbows. Look Denon kill pioneer all across the board and been doing so with the moving platter because once again that's industry standard come on guys anyone who played vinyl knows what looks better in a DJ booth. So to all DJs who like to experiment on the fly do remixes LIVE....then own a player that's capable of updates to keep you waaaayyyy ahead of the competition(Pioneer) a media player built like a tank big beautiful touch screen REAL vinyl feel. Its only one choice Denon Prime SC6000M or SC6000. Make the right choice and go with someone who listens to the DJ world DENON! Peace

Exactly! My current set up is 2 Denon SC5000M and a Xone DB4. Can’t wait to sell of my SC5000M and buy a pair of SC6000M when they become available! The SC6000M is so much better than the SC5000M with the look, build and tbh I hate the play/pause and cue buttons so much on the SC5000 series. And absolutely love the rubberised feel on the SC6000 series!

I had been away from DJing using decks since around 2012. Now about to finally get a fresh pair of CDJs and nearly went for the XDJ1000Mk2 (old CDJ nostalgia). Great thing I stumbled across Denon SC6000 reviews before confirming my order. Things have seriously changed since 2011! Pioneer truly is the Apple of DJ gear. SC6000s incoming!

Dj Keo, Thanks for the review and your comments. i have been a Denon user for a long time. as a dj myself i do agree 100% with your view of Playing a Track just to play it because you can stream it or Get it on the Fly. i fell the ART of actually listening to the tracks and the structure of them gets lost. nothing like Listening to a track and Finding the Cue Points to best fit (my) the dj's mixing style all that gets lost. boy i miss those times of Records and CD's . none the less i still love the new implementations and creativity one can accomplish with these new units. i hope Denon Keeps it Solid.once again Thanks

I agree on a number of your points as for the streaming services the only way you can be a better DJ is have a good knowledge of music from history right up to now having really good music appreciation and really know your stuff that will give you a bit of a chance but if you’re not good in history of music you might be left on the wayside were talking about all genres of music not necessarily knowing everything but having a dam good knowledge across the board and being aware of the trends in music when I’m doing work and I’ve got a mixed crowd of people I find that we always go backwards in history for a fair amount of the night we never stay with just the current top 50 as a mobile DJ if you are a club DJ different matter but if you are mobile DJ you could play anything from anywhere from any genre from any decades is it gonna know where and when to put it in so everyone has a good time I believe the streaming services are gonna make DJs lazy as you said there’s no excuse when you 99.9% but you can’t say no you don’t have it because most of us there from any country around the world so you do use the other skills as a DJ to put yourself on par or better yourself in the best way that you can yeah I’m legally blind DJ so are use those small terabyte USB drives which are now portable enough to carry anywhere in your pocket that’s how I carry spare and hard to get songs anyway just my thoughts but you did put some good points across and yes then has really changed the landscape on the DJ industry big time we can’t go back we can only go forward in future

Yea man, the touchscreen is definitely dope, even with the oldschool Serato set up, with a computer or laptop, its still not a. " touchscreen "..... And, it really is extremely useful for many things, that I've been wanting to do as a learning, & practicing skratch DJ, & trying to mix now, as well, on top of that. Just gotta find my genre, that I really wanna both skratch, & mix with, & hunker down, & just dive in.... Ive been so focused on my portables lately, & learning, & practicing my skratching, that I've been slacking on my mix work... I have been learning & practicing 100% computer & laptop free! And, wanted to continue that learning angle, so that im not dependent on computers to DJ, ya know. So if internet, or computers get shut down, I'll still have the skills to DJ, & Skratch regardless, ya know homie.... So, when I seen the video commercial with that dude tearing it up, with an amazing set, using the Denon SC-5000M, I was amazed, cause I seen that platter with the motor running, just like my turntables I've been practicing with, & then I also seen the beat options they put into this instrument, & the dual-layering, instant-doubling, the 8 pads for cues, loops, rolls, slices. And the fact that I don't need a computer, mostly! When it said that all I would need is either a memory drive stick, or an SD Card, or simply WiFi Internet streaming, I was blown away! And im a vinyl guy honestly, but, I knew that having this would be a huge game changer for me, & would open up several doors for me creatively! I've been getting all these different ideas lately, for types of scenarios for my skratching, & mixing, & this instrument will enable me to do this now, & still be able to use my regular Turntables with it as well, or even my portables, if wanted..... Lol...🔥💯👍💪🙏🎶🌎

YES YES YES...i can't wait to get my hands on my SC6000s and the X1850.... I'm an old school dj from the 70s (1200s, cdj 400s, rotary mixer) and to me the HD insertion releasing the laptop of its duty is huge. I've been sitting back and waiting for something like this and decided to jump...DENON I believe will be upgrading that software. They have to. its true that it has its issues with the beat grid but its generally tracks that were made 30 years ago that was played by humans. its not perfect but its real. Either way a dj should be able to get around those issues. Although the wifi capability may be an issue it does open up new doors for those who normally wouldn't even think of playing a particular track...The industry standard finally has some competition. I look at it like this. It can only get better for us that use the stuff....

What up DJ Keo, hey, I picked up one of the SC-5000M's, & was curious if theres any difference between these two versions, between the bigger touchscreen, & bigger platter of the SC-6000M, & the SC-5000M?? I've been looking around to see if even is a difference, but the only thing I've been able to see is simply the touchscreen size, & the platter size. Besides that, from what I've read, & seen, they both perform the same way. Great video my ninja.... Respex Big Upz, & Mad Love to DJ Keo, & to all the devoted, dedicated,& passionate DJ's worldwide...... 🔥💯👍💪🙏🎶🌎

I know this video is a year old but Denon DJ has improved their hardware/software and becoming more innovative. It is a good thing. Yes. I use Pioneer for the simple fact it is in every club, venue, and festival worldwide. My question is this. Will Denon overtake Pioneer as the "club standard" as far as DJ equipment? Pioneer did answer somewhat with the CDJ3000 but the miss is not coming out with a mixer to replace the DM900 Nexus 2. When Denon releases their SC6000 series, they also release the X1850 mixer. Pioneers keep thinking like Apple while Denon thinks like Windows and Andriod. Who has the most users? I use both Andriod and Windows because they keep updating and improving for their users. They listen to those to buy their products. Denon is working the same way. It may take a major House/Techno DJ to switch her/his rider to Denon DJ. When that day comes, Pioneer will be in trouble.

Finally, people are starting to break out of their bubbles & realizing how green the grass is outside of the "Industry Standard" bubble they've been dwelling in.
Not only is Denon listening to consumer feedback but the tech they have access to under the InMusic umbrella is unprecedented....Rane, Akai, Stanton, Numark etc. Denon took the best of the best from all the gear in the InMusic catalog & rolled it up into 1 super deck.
If the FLX6 is an indicator of the direction Pioneer is going then they're doomed.

Great video. I'm a mobile DJ (and remixer) too and these players and mixer look amazing. You mentioned streaming in your video. I agree that streaming is still in its infancy and can't imagine playing an event with just using a streaming service such as tidal. The concept is great, but it hasn't caught on yet for mobile or even club jocks. I don't care how good your connection is, (wireless or wired), you take a huge risk when playing something off the internet, even though it's cached locally .. it's not the actual mp3 in your library. can you imagine playing a request or even a first dance song at a wedding and the "local cached" song stops playing ? How embarrassing that would be. Granted local mp3s can stop playing too, but your chances of that are slim and none. But - I do think the streaming of music is a great concept and I do think it will eventually work. The Denon SC6000/M with their new 10.1" screens are amazing. Definitely a game changer in the industry.

I don't like the fact that we don't own the songs and if a artist pulls out or the company goes bankrupt you can have songs removed from your library and you have no control over it. One of the reasons i have gone off pioneer is this attempt to make you use Recordbox and recently they tried as many others have done to push subscription services on to djs. There are too many subscription services as it is without dj software companies making you rent their best features in the dj software you use.Sometimes it makes sense but mostly its just brazen exploitation .All this closed eco system shit is causing problems in the dj booth with different djs on different platforms and gear. Its much better to have hardware that works with all the major software out of the box or in VDJ s case software that works with nearly all dj hardware.

The 6000M with moving platter looks really attractive. Don't know if I agree you only need one device. Technically speaking, yes. A LOOONG time ago I had this Denon player that was also able to play two tracks from 1 device. And had a harddrive. www.theaudioworksuk.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/dc551b25cc7a3eb4eb08fc394d09b3f7/D/N/DNHS5500SQ_650x650.jpg However, for the workflow it feels more natural to have two devices, left and right of the mixer. Only issue for people who consider Denon, is that if Pioneer remains the industry standard, anyone who wants to learn DJ-ing can best use at home what is also default in the club. Pioneer have now also a controller coming which is basically two fullsize nexuses over two channels and two free channels (so not 4 channel standalone) to plug in some other hardware, turntables maybe.

Can this be used with regular phono Audio-Technica AT-LP 140XP turntable, or even my portables, like my OMNI, or my modded out Reloop Spin?? I think id be able to figure it out myself probably, but figured id ask an OG in the game, & get some critical feedback on this, ya know homeslice, much love, & thanks man, great video, very interesting, been enjoying your prime series videos lately. Especially where I picked up one of these, now im trying to learn as much as possible, before setting this up & diving rite in. Plus, my OMNI showed up recently, cause of the virus slowing down the progress of them being produced, & shipped out, so, I've been playing with that mostly lately, but really wanna start diving into my SC-5000M, like real soon.... 🔥💯👍💪🙏🎶🌎

Although I greatly appreciate your insights and love for this, I disagree with your point with streaming. I lost count with how many times someone requested a song and I didn't have it and my response is "I don't have it but I'll see if I can find it." I think if you're a real DJ it first begins with the heart and technology will only enhance to what's already inside you. As a DJ you are rarely there for you but for the people. I'm never threatened by technology because I'm confident in my love for the craft. When you allow your uniqueness and love for the art of DJing to shine through no matter what tools are there, others will appreciate that glow too. According to you maybe we should all go back to cassette decks (just my sarcasm here..LOL).
You have every right to be critical with this increasing technology, but remember that you are also benefiting from it as well. Technology give others a chance who may not have been interested before to unleash a creativity that was not this easy to express before. I respect guys like you, because I'm the same way, but I understand with a shifting technology and a changing culture, adaptation is key for growth and greater success. The heart of a DJ lies from deep within not so much with the instruments you use. The technology only pulls out out what's already inside of you. DJing is a mindset and a movement, not a momentary impulse in time, but transcends time. What if I was to tell you that in heaven (if you believe) there is a DJ culture where God himself uses Vinyl made out of fire with technology way beyond this world?

I hate the term "real dj" but I understand your point and I tend to agree. My wording isn't the best I'm not afraid of technology I embrace streaming I use it all the time to bail my ass out at events. My point was more so about the future/ long term about what could happen with the culture. Thank you for your comment though I appreciate people who disagree and provide different perspectives I haven't even thought of.

Dj's won't get worse because of unlimited access to music, all they need to do is KNOW the tracks they are playing. If they know the song inside out then they know when to play it at the write time after the right song. Of course, if Dj Request is stepping up to the decks and takes requests from Karen all night then yeah that's gonna be horrible. As you said, Denon are 2020, they are fresh and I'm open to this kind of availability.

Yeah each media player has the ability to play two separate songs at the some time because it has two outputs. it's kind of like those 4 channel controllers that have a+c b+d buttons on each side of the controller so it's very easy to mix off of just one player.

I really appreciate Denon about innovation and pricing (aside unfair promos coming just few months after a product launch..)..anyway I had SC5000M and X1800 for a bit, X1800 is not at 900NXS2 level at all, faders quality was awful..
About CDJ pricing..it seem many people forget they have a CDs slot: OK..CDs are obsolete? nobody play them again? (I play, as I play vinyl, USB, DVS)..anyway CDJs have a CD player and Denon decks don't, that's it..
..then they charge (too much) a price brand factor..and that's it too..

I agree with this point, in general only. Yes sometimes given an abundance of something makes a lot of people (dj's) get watered down. However, for myself I do the opposite. With unlimited songs comes unlimited genres. This would allow me to get even more creative by mixing tracks that I would have never had the chance to. And as we know, this open format style is useful for those crowds who like that

I try to keep my working curated collection around 2k tracks. Steaming is great option for open format requests. Most of us do what we do for those on the dance floor. It’s their night to have a good time.

Bro you have no idea, having unlimited music doesn't diminish your skill. Excision is a great example of how skill doesn't diminish. Dude, 100s of tracks in an hour or two hour set time and his sets are always fire. The bass head community of DJs and producers are constantly evolving and progressing due to the fact of the infinite possibilities they have with the production software and synths *cough *cough serum *cough phase plant *cough *cough. So this brings my next question. Why is it that pioneers club standard of cdjs (nexus2000) still used? You would think that if these Denon DJ products were as good as you say that these big international playing headliners would all be making the switch. These are artist that aren't getting approached by Becky's and Karen's that play 100% original sets or a mix of their own music with other similar bass music artists. They still use pioneer. This kind of defeats your argument when you said the more you have when it comes to your music selection the less magic. Is this true for these artist? Is there a "too much" factor with Denon DJ cdjs? Do you lose the "magic" when you use a cdj with so many capabilities? Is it your music selection and how you play it or is the hardware you use to play your music that creates the magic? Me personally I think Denon DJ looks pretty slick, I wouldn't be opposed to purchasing a set of them I really like that big ass screen and a few other features like that hard drive and really the overall look and how you navigate through it. Albeit pioneer just put out a brand new 6 channel mixer 5 months ago, it won't be long before they are upgrading the club standard cdjs (nexus 2000) to go with the new mixer I assume.

I really agree with you that limitations are good for creativity (minute 11:00) and abundance of music available does not make DJ's better. Compare it what producers say that limited equipment makes you get the best out of what is available. See this video from 2:30 minutes: ua-cam.com/video/SUMLqfWUCXU/v-deo.html Also agree that abundance of music may water down your style. Not necessarily, but it is a risk. I already feel like too many DJ's sound the same. Since beatmixing goes easier or auto, the extra time is used by playing with effects. Since most mixers are Pioneers, everyone doing the same tricks with same effects or even destroying what the producer tried to create.

    • @DJKeo
      @DJKeo  4 роки тому +1

I agree because beat mixing is so easy now It is getting harder and harder to separate yourself from other DJs. Btw thank you for that link for the other video that was great I love the vintage keyboards and everything that dude was doing.
