Altough i‘m a Pioneer-User and a fan of the Cdj‘s - espacially the design, i think they really need to step their game up, Denon ist on a great way to the top.
Pioneer has the market rigged as they must be paying re-sellers top money to advertise and sell there junk

@@amymixesandmasters1385 Any brand ambassador will get paid if their name or photo is used advertised or selling the brand. Walking into stores and listening to stores push nexus2 makes be feel that they are getting at least 60% of retail. To take your own money to invest x2 the price of denon, to buy 90's tech in Nexus2 made me feel like i was being raped by myself!!!
Denon has officially snapped with this one. Internal SSD in a cdj setup and a 10 inch screen! I am glad to see the frequency of updates to their line up. They are absolutely dominating right now
i like the space for a hard drive ,the larger screens,and most of all the larger spinning platter.

Love the new look but and screen but I’ll be honest I love the Pioneer sz2 much presise in mixing on them but I’m very concerned about how they compare while beat mixing and scratching they don’t really look like a Technics mk2 1200 turntable like I’m use too in the 1983 I didn’t ever use no stupid beat sync I was all ears and feel back then and now !

@@davidbiegler7322 SZ2 is a controller, Prime 4 is a 4-ch standalone unit and controller. Pioneer doesn't have anything in it's lineup that can do 4-channels standalone

@@shq1723 Plastic is ok, but yeah the upside stripes on the side look a little rough/clumsy/toyish , a fine grip texture might would be a solution
and instead the plastic buttons they should use aluminium buttons
then they would eat Pioneer (even more than they do now :D , i mean no new announced cdj 2000 nx3 or cdj 3000... they

@@THMSOfficial I quess it's all down to personal preference when it comes down to the stripe on the side, having owned the nxs2s and the sc5000 prime I actually preffered the grip on the sc5000 prime but the fact it looked like a toy was definitely annoying lol. Looks can certainly be deceiving though as when it came to sturdiness, even though the nxs2 was heavier due to the cdj drive the sc5000 felt much stronger. With all that metal on the player rather than plastic as compared to the nxs2 it definitely held it's own when applying pressure.
I think the black on the sc6000 definitely helps it and the fact it has a smaller jog but larger platter will make it feel much smoother.
Personally, I think whatever Pioneer throws at Denon it will still be a step behind, for eg, even if pioneer produce a product that contains a dual deck format it will just be the same as denon but at a lot higher price, cant really see them improving too much on overall functionality, performance pads, screen functionality, loop functionality etc so I just genuinely cant see what they can do to better Denon and maybe their starting to realise it now too. The problem is the stranglehold they have on the industry, they can essentially make the new hardware worse than the sc6000 for eg but people will always be saying it is the best as its club standard, when in fact it's just a facade as in 15+ years they have had 0 competition until now, and their resting their laurels on that fact alone which is very dangerous.

I went to Bop DJ in Bristol to see one yesterday. It's an absolute beauty. The screen is so sharp. It feels very premium. It will be mine!

It's funny that coming from a controller to cdj Nexus 2s feels like a downgrade to me. A lot of DJs want something more. I think Denon has the answer. It will take time but they will likely become the new standard

Thanks for the review. Very useful, I've read a comment about the SC5000 response and now I've confirmed this concern. Besides, I was wondering why these units don't support controller mode for Serato DJ Pro as the SC5000 and SC5000M.
I know turntablists may not be so into controllers (at least below 12"), but I personally think it's reaaaaally nice to have options. Specially like these ones (controllers with standalone option!)
The only thing I think is missed is the option to load songs from a NAS (even connected to the Internet 😁) That would be outstanding!

Given that the update has mostly been cosmetic (along with the HDD bay), I'm tempted to get 5000s but opt for the X1850 (since it's literally the same price as the 1800)
larger screens, hard drive bay,larger better platters.All of which will still fit in the place where the old ones went.At first glance it looks cosmetic but a bit of a dive reveals hidden treasures

Great little review! That SATA bay is phenomenal. Was thinking about getting two 5000M’s but the 6000M’s are only a couple hundred dollars more.

Hope u guys will release a Deck DJ-SC6000 MK2 with 10" inch Motor Plater, let's make a new Deck that will cover everyyhing a combination of an Old school size Turntable Plater (almost) with a High Torque & Tech / Digital Motorize System & Etc with a realistic & reasonable Price!

Have they addressed the sticky zones on the original 5000s jog wheel?
One thing that I would've liked to have seen is the bars to next cue countdown. This is something I use a lot on CDJs/XDJs and in Traktor, so it will be great if that came to the players in a future update. I know it sounds like a little thing but as they say - every little counts.
Also, I really hope they work on their library prep software a bit more as Rekordbox tagging and related tracks is currently hard to beat in my opinion, especially because it is available directly on the players.

@@sarjaksubedi Hey, thanks for the answer. I am aware of the bar indicators that currently exist but the one next to the time just counts normally...meaning 1,2,3. Alternatively, I would like to count down to the next cue point that's in the track. Hope that makes sense.
Performing a longish SPIN BACK was impossible on the SC-5000M unless you lossen the grub screw on the center pin. Unfortunately by doing this the deck becomes unusable and non-responsive for normal vinyl manipulation! I'm glad the SC-6000M dosn't have this issue. Denon supply a tiny washer the fits over the spinndel befor to attach the vinyl disk and BOOM, nice long spin backs!
Is it just me or the scratching on 6000M sounds so much better from the previous review of 5000M and since they have no difference when it comes to hardware,that mean that they actually keep up with updating the OS for turntablists?! If so thank you Denon,for real.

one minor change i would make for the Ms.A line at the top right hand side for an at a glance reference.Its the same thing that many mods of the Rane 12s have.
I requested that be added to the screen printing. It’s probably too late in the release cycle to have it added, but Denon DJ do listen, so... fingers crossed!

Only reason the 5000s don't feel out of date is because they're still miles ahead of CDJ features
The track preview-mode is also on the Denon sc5000/5000M. It came with the latest update a little while ago, so this is not a new feature on these players, just saying!😊

I have only had my sc5's for about 8 month from from buying them second hand due to trying them out before spending new. I also don't like the jogs on the 5s not just for scratching but general mixing. They really don't feel natural on any tension setting. I also much prefer the sc6000s appearance as the 5s I find looks unprofessional and the bright leds on the 5s can get annoying in low lighting environments.
As I have decided to stick with Denon over pioneer I'm going to invest in a new set of 6000s and sell my 5s

Where Denon need to focus some attention is on entry level controllers, if they can capture the market there it can filter up to the top as at the moment the SB3 and DDJ400 ar just better entry level controllers
fact that Denon only focus to Pro level now, they leave the entry level for Numark with Mixtrack series, NV series, NS series,... (they are have same parents company - inMusic with akai,...) you can see Denon just release all StandAlone system and Media Player/Mixer for Pro's DJ and Club/Fes now. Stopped releasing MC and MCX range but still have new update and support for them.

7:35 thats the weakness of their competitor... nobody want to buy something that will be "archived/not supported" not even 2 years after.
Can anyone speak to if you can update the library on the SD card inside the player without having to unscrew the bottom plate and take the disk out? If they could be connected to a laptop or CPU via the ethernet port or usb, and updated like that, that would be tight a f!
Yup just plug in your usb or computer. It will read it as a hard drive that you can transfer files across. The prime series are computers!!! With OS!!

While I'm glad we're seeing more decent competition against Pioneer, I don't know what to think of these as of now. Sure, the bigger jog, bigger screen and under-the-hood improvements are all positives, but are we going to be seeing real proper updates from Denon, such as updating Engine to be in so much as touching distance of Pioneer's Rekordbox? I'd heard that the scratching latency and response was a bit iffy on the SC5K, can you confirm whether the 6Ks are any better at this?
Wait you said it has wired and wireless networking. Does the prime 4 allow a Ethernet to be plugged into it for network?

Thanks for the vid mate. Quick question...On the SC5000 or 6000's is there any way to simply reset the tempo of a song back to its default speed without touching the tempo slider (no different to the tempo reset on the Pioneers) its such a basic function but even something im struggling to map on my DDJ1000 and really dont want it to be an issue when i get the new 6000's. Cheers!

Always bought motorized players from denon.
This time ill get the static version it Just looks that great,im not that great at scratching to justify 5k on gear which i have for scratching when i get to practice on my technics m5g and phase mwm.
So yeah the sc6000 is Just what the doctor ordered.
I’m wondering is the 6000M really worth an extra 200? I know certain people like the spinning platters but when the 5000M came out it was the same price as the original 5000. I’m still using 1210’s & I’m not really sure I’d care too much about losing the spin! I doubt it would make much of a difference to your mixing/scratching once you got used to a static jog wheel.
I wish these would integrate with Pioneer mixers... I really don't like the look and feel of Denon mixers. And I like the tempo-synced effects on the DJM mixers... with these would have to rely on BPM detection which works but not up to date immediately when changing tempo on a deck...

Just so you know this is not the first Denon player that had a hard drive. Look back at the hd2500 from 2006 which was truly ahead of its time.

i like the old platter in the 5000m better than thee 6000m. the new platter looks like a cake
love the 5000m's but had only 1 gripe, that they are a little buggy, tracks sometimes taking ages to load and sometimes will start playing the previously loaded track and have to stop it and start again, im hoping that these issues have been addressed in the 6000m, can anybody comment on this? cheers

Bought myself old Denon mixer X600 by accident. Never knew it existed before I saw a private ad. Its very cool and offers much more for the price than the rest of the market. I'm now big Denon fan. Although the Pioneer was cool - I just avoid it at all cost because its a mainstream. just a biased thing. nothing objective... :)
Its a shame though that they never updated Engine on the MCX8000, which was the first Denon bit of kit to get Engine.
I think most people with a 8000 though use it as a Serato unit anyway.
They never will update the mcx8000, becoz they hev Prime Go right now and completely new stand alone platform

You really wouldn't hear much from them after that, and it kinda gives you an idea of what it is they place a lot of "value" in...
@@ericburgos yeah true; I'm a backseat marketer at absolute best, but I appreciate the design choices they made with the first gen - loud, bright colours, redesigned scheme for frequencies (which I personally like, myself), all of which garners attention. Then when the hook is in the professional market consciousness, release a more muted, professional design that has a wider appeal.
They shouldve out put a headphone jack with the ability to record your own performances on this unit.

I wish they hid the fader screws and plate on the mixer. I would love to have that mixer alone for scratching and music production. Even swapping the fader out, having the fader plate and screws exposed is not appealing.
They are focusing on easy access, id rather have that screws than having to pull out the knobs and fades just to change one fader. Ur idea is not design wise

They look very tempting. I just wish they could do something better with the Prime software though as it sucks.
Also still, no sample bank features. Why have Denon still totally ignored such a feature in all this new gear being released this year?
