@@TechHarmonic true
Yes true 💪
so weird coming out with a 4gb 30 series card, who would want that instead of like a 1660ti?
@@TechHarmonic I get the dell g15 with 5600h and 3050 at $699
I can only imagine how much work this takes. I mean it is just ONE SLIDE when he says "So and so game ran 40% better". But imagine installing the same drivers, windows and game client on both laptops for 15 freaking games man and then benchmark softwares. And finally RUNNING the benchmarks. *All for ONE PowerPoint slide.* Thanks for the hard work dude!

1650ti vs 3060
1660 Ti vs 3060
RX 6600M vs RTX 3060
I'm banking on the 3060. As the 1060 and 2060 have proved before, the xx60 GPUs are the best balance of cost and performance.
They kind of dropped the ball with the RTX 3060, since it only matches the performance of the RTX 2060 Super. Even the RTX 2060 was able to match the GTX 1070 Ti performance wise, and that was a lackluster generation.
To be fair though, this is the mobile RTX 3060 he is comparing against. The mobile RTX 3060 actually comes with more CUDA cores than the desktop RTX 3060. Except with 6gb of gddr6 instead of 12gb.
3060 price seems quite a bit more than the others unfortunately
@@JarrodsTech In this comparison you should account also the MUX cost in the USD 170 difference. A pretty decent asking price for 50% CUDA + 50% VRAM + MUX if you ask me. A no brainer.
@@dondraper4438 uhm 3060 is much faster then 2060 Super and 2070, like 3-4% slower then 5700xt but still it's still a disappointment especially if we look forward and compare it with 3060ti and the current market.

3050TI running on windows 11 and 3060 runs on windows 10 any take on that?

The real use case for the 3050 Ti is in thin and light laptops, like Dell XPS, OR RAZER book 13. In those it will offer full HD, 60 FPS at medium to high settings which is game changing for that market segment.

Great video! IMO seems like the xx60 cards are always the best balance between price and performance.
Would be neat If the 50's were 6gb, 60's were 8gb, 70 and 80's are 10gb
I can confirm sir, that 4050 (50's) are now 8gb for PC, and 4050 Laptops are 6Gb of VRAM
Nowadays 4Gb VRAM is almost unusable
Great Prediction By The Way :)
This is what disappointed me
3050ti has more cuda cores, has rt cores(a little insignificant because it's very less), has DLSS 2 support but
A two year old 1660ti has higher vram at 6gb and Faster memory interface
Why would nvidia screw 3050ti so much
The RTX 3050Ti is last gen :( doomed to choke at *1080p*. Laptops have to be super cheap to make some sense.
This may just be the laptop version. The desktop one might have 6gb of vram

Good thing I watched this video, I wasn't aware of how limiting 4GB VRAM really was and this test made me realize it was a complete deal breaker. If you plan to keep your laptop for at least 2 years, just save for an RTX 3060.
It would be especially awesome if you could make an ultimate P/P comparison between all the the 30XX series laptops with the closest specs possible.
A fantastic comparison. I love to see these types of comparisons to really understand the difference of what I would be getting. Awesome video.
Great video! Loved the graphs and detailed explanations!
Hey Jarrod! Great review as always. I have one question though. I plan to buy a lenovo legion 5, but as I'm kinda budget limited I have to choose between having one with i7-11800H and rtx 3050ti or one with
Ryzen 7-5800H and rtx 3060. Both laptops are around the same price. I have watched your video where you compared both processors but I can't determine which laptop should I choose considering the overall performance of both laptops. Any help is appreciated!
hello, not Jarrod but the performance of the 3060 will more than make up for the marginal FPS loss of the CPU. the 11800h is technically a tiny bit better than the 5800h in games, but GPU is a lot more influential on performance in this case. Also, the AMD cpu will have way better battery life, and will perform better with multicore tasks :)
@@HardlyStellar thanks a lot!
Sadly I got an RTX 3050ti, I just bought it today, I was on a 1K budget and tbh for the pc I got (Msi katana GF76) it is an extremely good budget gpu, maybe in a few years the card won't be as good but for the kind of games I play (I play low requirement games like Overwatch and LoL) I must admit the card is great for a 1K budget PC with those specs, I cannot game those super high quality games but I can play those mid range ones and tbh I'm fine with that.
Whoever got the 3050ti and now regretting it, keep ur head up king, the card not the greatest but a card is a card so let's enjoy it
Yeah man.
the card can do DLSS.
And it performs well. Also, to save the RAM issue? play valhalla at 720p instead of 1080p.
Done. Use the built in sharpening and you'll barely notice a difference :) Not a big deal.

I opted for the 3050 ti because I couldn't couldn't find a 3060 setup that had the amd cpu I wanted for a reasonable price. The difference was literally 600€ or about $720 from a 3050 ti to a 3060 with a ryzen 7 5800h and mostly similar specs. I think the only other differences were 512 vs 1tb ssd and 144hz 1080p vs 300hz 1080. I have plenty of external ssds, 512 is fine.
Notably I will use this laptop mostly for sculpting with zbrush and blender and some casual gaming on the side so getting that cpu at a more reasonable price was more important for my mobile workstation than getting a top notch gpu. Not that a 3060 is top notch 😅 but you see my point.
If the difference had only been 170€ I probably would have spent the extra, but it can be quite difficult to find single part upgrades in laptops.
For what it's worth Doom Eternal runs like butter with Ultra Nightmare settings across the board except texture cache has to be medium, which only really impacts things you wouldn't see clearly at a distance on a 1080p laptop anyway. Then again doom eternal can probably run on a toaster.
I feel you on the pricing, i don't know what these sellers and stores are smoking, but here rtx 3060 laptops can go up to more than 2000 euro's.... it's getting ridiculous tbh.
@@corebite The cheapest one in austria at the local store is a Lenovo. R5-5600, 16gb ram, 512gb M2 and RTX 3060 for a whopping 1.2k€. I'd take it but I'd rather have an i7-11800h and, well, I don't want a Lenovo. More interesting brands start at around 1.5k€
I get you. I got an Asus ROG Strix 17 with a 3050 at 72k rupees (1k dollars) and its the fastest in this price range. Any xx60 series laptop is $1100+, even a 1660Ti, that too at a 45w tgp. Like wtf 💀

Hi there you really helped me a lot with deciding with the GPU. But I want to ask your opinion . I have 2 choices latest 12th gen i5 fpr 3050ti or 10th gen i5 for 3060. Both have the same price. Which one do you prefer?
Hey Jarrod I'm unsure which one to get between a 95W 3070 and a 3060 130W both boosted. Which laptop would perform better at both 1080p and 1440p and by how much percentage roughly? . I'm leaning towards the 3070 for the extra vram but still want to know the performance difference between both. Thanks you for the videos
I wouldn't pick a non-full wattage GPU like the 3070 in your example. Just seems like a waste of good GPU.
Practically speaking I observe that today ( 2 months after the video) 3050 ti laptops start from $1000 while the 3060 ones start from $1500 (both 16GB RAM). This is essentially also 50%. Most people can afford $1000 but not $1500 for a laptop. Does that say anything?

Hey Jarrod,
I am really in between laptops. I am an architecture Master student looking for a new laptop and I have two options: the Dell XPS 15 (with an i7) (9510) or the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro (AMD). The reason for me to go for the Legion 5 pro is the graphic card and (What I think) the overall better performance. However, the Dell XPS 15 looks way more professional and has a slicker design. I will mainly use it for my Adobe programs, Sketchup, AutoCAD programs and maybe do some light rendering. I do game sometimes, but nothing major. Which one would you recommend?
This is the actual answer that i am looking for with this question. Please response it.
Did you set everything to Ultra on Red Dead Redemption 2 or did you use Hardware Unboxed's ultra config? Thanks in advance!
I wanna see them same 3060's with different processors like i7 11800h vs ryzen 7 5800h or i5 11400h vs r5 5600h
Rog strix g17 with Ryzen 9 5900HX and 3060 only £1500
These laptops tested have the 11800H lol...but I see what you're saying
Comparing two GPUs in laptop is way harder, the processor is very important and the probability of finding same pc, same model, watt consumption, cpu, ram speed and more is way harder, even though we all know 3060 is better than the 3050ti, I'd really doubt it if they are that far appart once the desktop version comes (if any) because in there, you'd just change gpu but same pc.

@@mahendratrian6145 agree lack of dlss does hurt the 1660ti 😔
The 3050ti seems to have very similar performance to the 1660ti just with less vram, maybe the 3050ti gets you 5fps more in games and adds dlss, but your trading 5fps and dlss for less vram thus limiting your options for selecting higher graphical settings and maybe playing at a lower frame rate 🤔

How about doing a comparison between new RTX 3000 series against the best GPUs before 2021 [2080 Super Max-Q or 2070 Super]
These GPUs' laptop price have dropped significantly and it is worth comparing them against the 115-130 watt 3060 or 3070

@@JarrodsTech Appreciate the effort! Take your time.
that 4gig vram just makes the gpu a complete waste of silicon. even my 4 year old 1060 laptop had 6gig vram and would probably perform better too.
Why are we comparing 50 series cards vs 60 series cards? Thought the fair comparison was the 1050ti 4gigs vram , 1650ti 4gigs vram , and 3050ti 4gigs vram. Price point is way off, but look how competitive the market is.
@@Theckonestroh because you can still buy laptops with 1060s, even new, for cheaper than these 3050s. Entry cards from just a few generations before the 1000 series had 1 gig of vram or even less and now we've had 3 where it has stagnated and stayed the same?
@@Theckonestroh What a stupid comment
@@Theckonestroh Because, the 1050 beat the 960m and matched the 970m. While not really decreasing vram. The 1650 gddr6 matched the 3gb 1060. But it did lower vram to 4gb vs 6gb on the 1060. All the while both using 50w and being $700ish. Even at launch.
This 3050 needs 80w to match the 1660ti 80w (the lowest end xx60 class on laptops) while costing as much if not more than it. And shipping with less vram. Hell it looses to a 90w 2060. You know, the card that it actually should've matched using 50w.
So fuck off with the ''you can't compare with last gen xx60 cards'' bullshit. The xx50 class matched or beat the last gen xx60 card. Has been for a while. Even on laptops.
@@siyzerix Waste of material. The card is to expensive in the price range it is competing in with 1660 ti with 6 gigs of ram. IMO RTX 3050 is for thin and light machines like the XPS 15, and for them it is excellent. But in a real gaming laptop, 3060(even 2060) are a much better options
For me when it comes to laptops is I am more interested in battery life than raw performance. Would have liked to see comparison of battery life while doing more average stuff.
Then use iris, and skip discrete gpu
Very good video, as usual! You think it's possible to compare razer 14 3060 against the 3080 version? I bet the difference in performance is like 20% for 80% more price but would love to check those for real! 🍻
was thinking of getting the ideapad 5 pro with RTX 3050, now im not so sure if i should look elsewhere.. I am looking for a light laptop which can also be used for gaming/video editing
I know people are instantly shutting down the 3050ti, and rightly so the 4GB vram in 2021 is a bit ridiculous, but I want to reassure you that you can still have a great gaming experience with it if your budget doesn't allow for the 3060 or if the 3060 model of the laptop you want is much more expensive. For example I managed to get the Zephyrus g14 (GA401QE) on offer for £1200 with the 3050ti which when compared to a similarly spec'd 3060 model is £400 cheaper (plus the 3060 model is never in stock in the UK at the moment). So as Jarrod says in the video, if there's that big of a price difference with the model of laptop you want, I'd recommend going with the 3050ti, it still offers a great gaming experience for the average consumer that doesn't need to play AAA titles on their laptop if they have a desktop PC, such as myself!

mate which one would you recommend if i look for the best price to performance ratio?
Don't be sad after getting a 3050 laptop. Because it is still a little better than the most decent powered gpu. My 3050ti on the hp victus performs identical to my friend's sapphire rx 580 8gb. Despite the rx580 having more vram. I could still get more fps and still runs games at ultra. Also dlss is a game changer. With dlss on it is something like a 1660ti desktop or 1070 desktop. So why so sad guys? Its still cheaper than 1660ti in my country at least and still really good. I'm conclusion, buy the cheaper one and look for better build and cooling system rather than looking at just the specs. Avoid f15, helios300 and nitro if you can.
I mostly play games mixed with high + medium settings so the 3050Ti would be perfectly fine for me but for 200 more Euros I could get the 3060. My concern however is if I get remarkable heat differences between those 2 graphic cards, since I do not like playing on a microwave lmao. If its few degrees diff. then I would not mind.
Temperatures are definitely noticeable. Max-P 3050 ti, which is around 80w, and a Max-P 3060, which is around 115w. The 3060 can boost upto 130/140w depending on the model.
Thanks for this.. it made my decision for which laptopto buy a lot easier
Glad I could help
Thanks for the help this was very useful.
Glad to hear it!
I came nearly close to buying a laptop with the 3050Ti. Man I'm so happy I went with the 3060 instead thank you for these videos man!!
most of them voted for 3050ti vs 1660ti comparison.... now what's the point for that poll?
Was about to say the same thing
@@BintangPaluAerith yea..even 2060 comparison would make more sense
@@SharathBandari he planned to do this comparison regardless of the poll, this option isn't even there
These videos take a shed load of time to make lol, the testing for this was done like a week ahead of the poll ..... The other are still being worked on, give it time.
Great breakdown and loved the data points, good vid.
Glad you enjoyed it!
this is a goddamn useful video! people need to know that by just spending a few more bucks you can get a substantial amount of performance !
This comparison reminds me of the comparison between the GTX 1660Ti and the 1650Ti. As usual the performance difference is substantially large and it's still more worth getting a 3060 laptop. Like with the 1650Ti, it's definitely not worth getting a laptop with a 3050Ti, honestly it's probably better to get a 1660Ti or 2060, especially when these laptops would be cheaper now.
he did a 1660Ti vs 3050Ti comparison and it was pretty much equal despite 1660Ti having more VRAM
Could you try 3060 versus 3070 or 3050ti versus 1660ti? Great video as always.
*3050Ti vs 1660Ti*
Also you could consider adding *Doom Eternal* to the benchmarks since it also loves VRAM at higher settings, and one would want to enable RTX after the recent update
you saved my life with this test, tnx
I guess the only advantages the 3050 ti has is that it runs cooler, uses less power and has better battery life. But I will take that. I have an Asus TUF F17 laptop with the 3050 ti in it. I wanted to get a model with the 3060, but it was just a little more than I wanted to spend. I still wish I had the 3060 though.
Same thinking process about the battery life and heating, and also have a regret that I should have bought 3060. But I am cooling it down because I am a student; not a gamer future; so I am Satisfied with decent gaming I am getting now...
(3060 is 250 dollars more)
Hmm 2060 vs 3060 will also be an interesting video
Working on it!
I agree.
Hey Jarrod, I really hope you do a game test on a Zephyrus G15 RTX 3060 version since it's really hard to find a review/test with the 3060 model. And I think that model is quite popular too in some countries. Thanks!
I'm thinking of buying legion 7 AMD R7 5800H with RTX 3070 and 1tb SSD but I'm confused on choosing ram 16gb or 32gb ram. I mostly play open world games and do some game designing work . I use a old PC which is very old with 8gb ram, so I'm going to use legion 7 as desktop replacement. So suggest me a better ram option.
Gotta love XMG for enabling those apple-to-apple comparisons

Holy fuck I knew the 3050Ti/3050 is bad, but not this abysmal
It was obvious how abysmal these shitty gpu's were gonna be. And the gall on OEM's to charge $1000+ for these pieces of shit
I think they're pretty good considering we are mostly seeing them in thin and light laptops like the XPS 15, they aren't meant to be for proper gaming laptops
@@comradeuro4255 I'm sorry but as far as I remember the gtx 1050 4gb was good for thin and lights AND gaming laptops. Same with the 1060. And the gtx 1650.
So this rtx 3050 is again, pretty shit. Even the 1650 wasn't terrible in the cheap gaming laptops. And it didn't eat 80w to perform somewhat close to the xx60 class of last generation. It used 50w to do the same.
There is almost no use case for these pieces of shit. Windows ultrabooks are basically obsolete now thanks to the m1 macs. The zephyrus g14 and the blade 14 prove 14' laptops can pack full power gpu's so their rtx 3060 versions are far better value than the shitty 3050ti versions. And they're not that much more either. Oh and there's also the fact that these gpu's have abysmal performance at lower wattages. Not to mention the pathetic vram. If I wanted a cheap 14' laptop with a dgpu, i'd get a mx card one. Much cheaper. If i need more power i'd get the 3060 version's.
At this point just re release the 1660ti
@@comradeuro4255 its offered in a lot of products under the "gaming laptops" moniker, you'd be surprised to see that there are variants of Asus Strix laptops with that GPU paired with AMD 5800H
@@siyzerix the 1650 was pretty weak compared to the 2060 or 1660 Ti. Just as weak as the 3050 Ti now. The difference is that the manufacturer weren't stupid enough to put the weak 50 cards in laptops for more than 1000. It was reserved only for cheap laptops like the Acer Nitro 5, Legion Y540, HP Pavilion Gaming, but now even the Legion 5 Pro has a 3050 Ti configuration which is just nuts
This video was so helpful thanks
Cyberpunk 2077 here on my legion 5 (ryzen 5 5600h and RTX 3060) maxed out at 1080p runs almost Always at 55-60 FPS, Is the patch 1.31 or do i have a bugged PC? (Rtx ultra enabled and dlss on quality)
Oh baby let's gooo 🌈❤️❤️
It's pretty nice that you still consider Red dead redemption 2 in a game test
Another brilliant Jarrod vid, nice one man 👍
Thanks 👍
should I get the G14 Alan Walker (special edition) with RTX3050Ti or the G14 GA401QM with RTX 3060?
