All of what you say may be true, but if you are just buying the Dusk to use with Default DSP tuning, most of the problems go away. That's how I use mine and I think they sound incredible. And I like that the cable eliminates the need for a dongle. Used that way it plays loudly enough, and the tuning is nearly perfect. I say nearly perfect because I actually alter the tuning somewhat by stacking a couple of filters I put on my phone's USB Audio Player's PEQ app. USBAPP creates these filters in the digital domain and then passes the digital signal to the Moondrop cable to add its three filters. Specifically, I add a plus 2db digital low shelf filter at 200 hz to 20 hz, and then I add a second plus 1 db digital low shelf from 50 hz to 20 hz. I also shelve down treble by .5 db starting at 400 hz which completely eliminates any shoutiness in the upper ranges. Once I do that the tuning is as close to perfect as anything I've ever heard in my 47 years as an audiophile. But I do understand the App is a mess, that it hangs up, etc. And as for digital artifacts in the cable, I simply haven't heard any. So while not a perfect solution, and not all that good as a flexible PEQ device, the cable does do a great job of perfecting the Dusk's tuning and providing a complete way to power them and deliver a very high end sound rivaling sets costing a great deal more. That's good enough for me.
I bought my dusk last august and i try to catch that digital noise. I far i cant catch it even with the radiohead's weird fishes song. Even on podcast or just videos where people just talk and no music, i couldnt hear those artifacts. What do you think it causes? Poor Moondrop QC? Unit variance? Source problem?
:O You might be one of the lucky ones then. More recently I've heard some people that do not have the issues, but at the same time, I've seen more and more who do. Honestly can't tell ya, source definitely has some effect, but I can't conclusively say.
is there an alternative DSP cable that I can buy? I find that on max volume connected to my pc (with the DSP) it's cutting out at parts, I think you mentioned it as clipping.
I haven't heard of any dedicated DSP cables that allow for custom tuning and don't feature some sort of issue (yet). So, sadly, the only tip I can give is to not use any +dB filters. Use a negative filter to reduce the non-targeted frequencies (so in turn you boost that region), then reduce as necessary. It works "reasonably" enough for me.
I bought this moondrop free dsp, With 100% volume in my IQOO 9 mobile song cuts and stops abruptly. Any idea on that? I'm having truthear hexa and combined it with freedsp. With original cable not facing any issues, with dsp it stops with 100% volume. And I tried with only 1 side IEM connected then it works with 100 % volume. Once I connect both side IEMs it stops abruptly.
Unfortunately I haven't run into this issue on my two pairs - so I'm not sure. Does the same thing happen when you plug into, say, a computer, and are you using any DSP profiles/tunings?
I am very excited about the dsp equalizer idea, so that I can apply my mom hearing loss graph in the equalizer setting so that it can boost the more lossy frequency ranges and mom can hear better Do you think it is possible ? or any other suggestions
You could technically do this...but it would be rather difficult. As I touched on, there's no pre-amp, so the only way to boost those affected frequencies is by dropping every other frequency. There's also a limit to how much you can, I've noticed 3 or more filters all being stacked at -12 dB introduces more noise, but if you had to, it would work... I boosted the bass this way and didn't have too many bugs, so you certainly could try!

Woops I missed this; Yes, using three -12 filters with a Q value of 0.2 covers essentially the entire range. I only used the Moondrop FreeDSP (which comes with the May and Dusk), so I can't 100% confirm on the Chu 2 DSP, but, the Chu 2 DSP actually seems to be more flexible. It only has 5 filters, but has a Q value minimum of 0.1 and can go down to 40hz (compared to 60hz). If you're looking for something affordable, I'd give that a shot :D

I also have the exact same noise issue with the DSP cable. Do u find any way or tuning that fix it?
For the tone, stay away from low frequencies (200hz+ seems safe-ish, albeit not full proof). Otherwise no sadly there is no way.

I experienced that on my dusk. It stops on the volume limit. I just lower the volume on optimal listening volume and it works again
