Yup genetics for sure, if you watch videos of her mom, rhythmic gymnast Anna Kotchneva, winning gold at the Worlds in 1987, she has the identical physique. Apple sure didn't fall far from the tree.
It's amazing how Nastia improved at the olympics from here and nationals she fell on floor at visas and had a big step out at the trials but at the olympics she was flawless and received a bronze medal for one of her weakest events amazing!!! Hope her comeback works out for her!
The details are just so beautiful in this routine. Working in the stare right at the beginning when it has nothing to do with actual gymnastics is genius. I think my favorite dance move here is 0:43, the way her body curved is just so beautiful. Also, this is a gorgeous color on her. NL is seriously a work of art.
How does Aly Raisman not have artistry? She has a lot of choreography that mixes well with the music because it is traditional Israel folk dance moves. Just because she doesn't pose like Nastia or move like aballerina doesn't mean she isn't artistic. Artistry is all subjective
To be fair, 2012 Aly was really lacking in the artistry department, she got a lot more musical as the years went on. Her 2016 Olympic AA FX was probably the best in terms of choreography.
@@eurekamreum5458 I actually far prefered her 2012 routine in artisty and choreography than 2016. I found it very ethnic and suited her heritage, and you can tell she was really passionate about performing it.
before....gymnastics was about dancing...beautiful dance movements while doing tumbling....but now its all about flips..nastia brought back the old gymnastics but her gymnastics was still modern.....now ally's is more about the tumbling than artistry
Wow, domestic scoring really does over score their gymnasts. Nastia did a near perfect routine during the events finals in Beijing and scored a 15.425, whereas in here she had quite a stumble during her 3rd pass yet had a higher score? Before y’all come at me, this comment was not made to criticize Nastia, but for the scoring system in the US. Other than the overscoring, they also credit connections/skills that would not be credited in international competitions, I wish they had scored them more similarly to the international scoring so they didn’t give their gymnasts false hope
if you're talking about difficulty, yes this lacks in the usual round-off, back handspring, and then double twist or something. However Liukin has beautiful artistry, probably the best US ever had, so boring is out of the question. And we all probably agree that Raisman won on floor because she had as much difficulty packed up and zero artistry whatsoever. Liukin is wonderful in ways that make sense.
There's nothing compelling about Aly's and Wiebers FX until they start tumbling. There're like guitar shredders. They depend all on difficulty. Without the difficult there would be nothing very significant to their routines,
Aly has a tumbling pass that was once considered impossible. Though I do love the more artistic gymnasts, in nearly every other sport, its about who does the hardest things the best. People like Aly and Simone do this that were once inconceivable and blew everyone away. While I love Nastia, she doesn’t have there power just like they lack her artistry.
if anyone even thinks about thinking about or has the nerve to post something that say nastia lukin is doing easy moves or easier moves that is . Nastia lukin is one of the most talented people in the world and id like to see you do a double front flip AND she puts the most effort in as any other gymnast even more !! she does a crap load of diffucult moves the only a few people can do so leave her alone
About her being "tall," it's really funny if you watch the movie stick it and compare her to the actors. She's on the tall side for a gymnast and she looks so short next to all the actors!
I’m 9 years late, but the movie was filmed before her growth spurt. I believe she was 140 something when Stick it was filmed and then she grew all the way to 5’2 and eventually 5’3. But yeah, it’s still short compared to the cast members
@sarahbarah4562 Yeah She so Graceful and flexible but when you her in bars or in the beam ... you can understan why she is artistic gymnast and not a rhytmic gymnast !
What I prize on a gymnast besides grace, power, elegance etc. is long legs, cause I have long legs and it makes up much of my height, I have a medium/long torso s itdoesn't add my much to my height. I am 5"5 and still goring ^_^
I think what that person means is that she looses her balance a lot, I'm not being mean-although I like shawn better- But I agree, shes trying to work herslef to hard and then she gets all thinking I have to do this perfect and alll that and I believe that that makes her loose her balance :(
i like her legs :P and she is graceful and good to watching, but not the best in floor... i like more Shawn J., Alicia S., or some chinese girls :P (He Kexin)
Almost 10 years later and I am still watching it
her glare as her music begins, SO POWERFUL, her landing on double front, EVEN MORE POWERFUL. man, Nastia just screams perfection!
Shopoholic5 RG Music powerful? really?
Her stare at the beginning... whoa. She is fabulous!!
Her legs really look like that of a rhythmic gymnast. Wow Genetics!
Yes. & although long & thin, she doesn't look like a giant insect like Khorkina. I was never wild about her look.
deenibeeniable she was so damn tall. Nastia had lean legs which made her look tall but she's actually only 5'3
She and Riley McCusker have beautiful bodies. Women's physique are my kryptonite! #WifeGoals #Sexyy
Yup genetics for sure, if you watch videos of her mom, rhythmic gymnast Anna Kotchneva, winning gold at the Worlds in 1987, she has the identical physique. Apple sure didn't fall far from the tree.
Hey we got another Mary Lou coming up
shes so slender it always supprises me she has enough power and muscle to tumble lol i love her
It's amazing how Nastia improved at the olympics from here and nationals she fell on floor at visas and had a big step out at the trials but at the olympics she was flawless and received a bronze medal for one of her weakest events amazing!!! Hope her comeback works out for her!
Her landing on the double front is amazing
damn those 1st two passes perfection
she would have made a beautiful ballerina
People really did forget how badass she can be on floor. World class work. I thought the silver was hers in Beijing.
such AUTHORITY on the landing of that double front... LOVE IT

I think my favorite dance move here is 0:43, the way her body curved is just so beautiful. Also, this is a gorgeous color on her. NL is seriously a work of art.
that red shade looks beautiful on her
i saw a 80's video of her mother performing rythmic gymnastics and nastia looks exactly like her
How does Aly Raisman not have artistry? She has a lot of choreography that mixes well with the music because it is traditional Israel folk dance moves. Just because she doesn't pose like Nastia or move like aballerina doesn't mean she isn't artistic. Artistry is all subjective
Raisman don't have artistry xD her execution is so hideous

Her double front tuck is awesome!!
M&Ms I know!!!!
before....gymnastics was about dancing...beautiful dance movements while doing tumbling....but now its all about flips..nastia brought back the old gymnastics but her gymnastics was still modern.....now ally's is more about the tumbling than artistry
she IS PERFECTION. really.
This routine gives me goosebumps xD
OMG her landings..... AMAZING!!
She had the most beautiful lines!!
so graceful
nastia liukin did amazing
wow that was the best landing on the double somersault I've ever seen her have!
Nastia is perf!
she is simply amazing ! & yes she made mistakes during the trials but she peaked at the perfect time - 2008 olympics
nastia is really good!!!
shes AMAZING.
i never realized she was so leggy!!
Еs magnetica! Preciosa! Brillante! Genial!

aly's shows personal expression which qualifys as artistry in the cop.
I know! awesome landing...I love how it kind of comes out of nowhere...with the graceful music and dance and twists and all of a sudden BOOM haha
Nastia est l élégance de la gymnastique
I love gymnastics.
Her legs look so long! But she makes it WORK. It’s har to believe she’s only “5’3”
@mrparke007 yea she does huh? she always seems to own that double front landing! it's amazing.
those legs
pause it at 0:44 its so amazing how flexible she is!!
1:01
@KatieShrimp2018 In ballet it is called a cabriole. I have no idea what gymnasts call it.

she made the team
Why is everyone talking about Aly here? 🤐 it
Menawo Rigg because they forgot gymnastics was a sport and thought it was a ballet recital
lol
i was there
@RachelSimpsonMusic She was 5'3" in 2008.
@IvalinaGeorgieva Variations on Dark Eyes by Lara St. John
At the Olympic Trials are choosen gymnasts who will be in the olympic team?
i was with her in gymnastics

theMstanglover oh shut up

all of alys movements are robotic and stif, her fust tumble is impressive for sure but imo thats all thats impressive in her routine

0:12 scares me every time
that judge is so nice she clapped 4 shawn too i dont know about the others
umm...wheres her floor exercise from day one?
@livetolaugh21 It can be called a ballet jump
what is the scoring out of?
She deserved it and right now I feel bad that Shawn got more then ehre
@animaljamluver ikr
Her double front always looks like she does weight lifting
she also looks so tall because her legs dont show as much muscle as other gymnasts
@sarahbarah4562 Yeah She so Graceful and flexible but when you her in bars or in the beam ... you can understan why she is artistic gymnast and not a rhytmic gymnast !
I am not trying to be mean to Nastia but it really creeps me out how bendy her legs are. It just looks so unreal.
@houndscheer1996 Competitions in America tend to favor gymnasts from America, and the scores are slighly inflamed.
@blueyedcutie63 16.2

at :52 if she had wobbled a little more her ankle could have seriously been hurt.. >.
tell me that is not a 10
