It became his....sport, to have his co stars burst out in laughter. And it is SO funny when they can't keep a straight face. HE can. I don't think i've ever seen HIM break his role.
He does break character multiple times, but always at the right moment to get an extra laugh from audience or to break the other comedian/"Hillywood*" he's working with
He also didn't mind aiming his jokes at his bosses (Joop van den Ende, later on John de Mol and now Jan Slagter)
*= Hillywood is a nickname for Hilversum where much of our tv and Radio stations reside(d) these days there are also studios out side this township but it's the OG studio Valhalla 🙂

There is a scetch with Jon van Eerd, where he is in a clock store, in which Andre almost cracks. Jon calls it one of his highlights.

Oh yes André van Duin is known to do that during his stage performing.
Funny thing is, I was born in '96. So way after Andrés prime time. When I was a little older, around 12 years old I suppose, I discovered his work through youtube and television. I would watch it a lot and burst out laughing. One time my grandma recognized Andrés voice and asked me if I was laughing so hard because of him. I said yes, and she said "Your grandpa (who passed away when I was 3 years old) used to absolutely love his humor". I suppose sense of humor can be genetic, and a way to still connect with people who passed away. So thanks to André Van Duin for making me feel a connection to my grandpa who I didn't really consciously know.
I was born in the 60's , so I can tell ya , Andre is one helluva comedian !!
And together with Frans van Dusschoten & Corrie van Gorp , really unforgettable !!
André’s humor goes beyond generations, even though most of his shows are from the 60s/70s and 80s, it never gets old.
You notice right away when André starts to improvise in his shows. His co stars start bursting out laughing and they try to keep in their role but André won't stop untill the end of his sketch!
Yes. The push or pull doorbell was pure improv, just to mess with the other guy (Hans Otjes)
He would often do this to the chagrin of his costars.. completely go off script and just go with it.. amazing

The man is/was an absolute comic genius... I've seen him several times live on stage. Seen everything up to 2000 on tv... the subtitles don't do the skits enough justice.
So great to see you enjoy André van Duin. People used to stay at home on saturday night just to watch his shows. His ventriloquist act as Willempie is also hilarious “Willempie buikspreken”

Yes, they did have a screenplay but Andre always did something different and/or unexpected so his co-stars would break character and start to laugh.
In the good old-day, we had plenty of these shows on Dutch TV but sadly we no longer get them.

Oké, A little background on this one: First of all, André is famous for making his coplayers break caracter and bearst into laughing. What happens here is that the lady gets thrown off from the minute she appears. There was a famous TV-show in the 80's that had the quote "Kopje koffie, glazenwasser?" or "Cup of coffee, windowcleaner?'. It was a running gag in that show, and it was always asked by a sexy lady with not that much clothes on.... What André does here, is turning that around180 degrees. I'm sure it was not scripted, and took the lady by surprise. That's why she can't stop laughing from the beginning...

I Highly recommend 'Bim Bam', a song by Andre van Duin. He plays four characters simultaneously (before green screen was invented) and he makes them all interact with eachother. His timing is amazing! You should watch it, first without subtitles, then find someone who can translate for you. Saw it as a toddler, been trying to memorize all the lines ever since :D

As for the "Kopje koffie glazenwasswer?" refers to a sketch by another show where a window cleaner often saw woman in compromising situation and where the woman asked him if he wanted some coffee.
I am sure he improvised and that made his partner laugh.

So for context, André van Duin famously loves to go offscript with whatever joke jumps to mind that he thinks is funnier at the time. So the woman in the window probably had no idea he was gonna call her a windowcleaner and got taken off guard :')
Its also a joke that is better when the context is understood. There was a sketch show called Pisa in the 80s that had a window washer segment (kopje koffie glazenwasser - nou dat sla ik niet af Wanda).
Everybody loves Andre 💕. You should check out Tineke Schouten, NudistenBar and Toilet juffrouw, cannot recommend those enough!!! Totally hilarious!
Frans van Dusschoten seems to use a accent from de Achterhoek region here even though he was born in Amsterdam, Corrie van Gorp uses her normal Rotterdam accent. When you run André van Duin gags, you could do some of the Jiskefet sketches, I think these will still 'translate' pretty well. Some of Van Kooten & De Bie is brilliant too, but not sure if that 'connects' with a foreign public ..

Andre's talent for improvisation is surpassed only by the late, great Robin Williams. If he had been an American, he would have been bigger than, say, Jim Carrey, to name but one amazing comedic actor.
I don't agree, check out Tim Conway on the Carol Burnett show.
Andre van Duin is known for going off script but telling no one. So a lot of times his co-actors heard a way different line then supposed to that's why a lot of them laughed very hard and could not bring out words anymore cause they get forced to go off script at that moment as well.
His bowling bowl is square because he will bowl with some Belgians lolz

It does not translate in English...although you think it does.
Good example is Garcia Marquez...it loses it flavor in any other language than Colombian Spanish.
To be honest André van duin never made me laugh, I am dutch and never enjoyed these theatrics, blackadder, and jiskefet were more my thing, george carlin, bill hicks, louis ck, dave chapelle and doug stanhope are my comedy heroes.
This was great but Snip and Snap did the same joke in the early 70s.
