I put around 18 feeders in my pond August 22. One of them only had one eye which is now one of the strongest fish. Two of them died into the first coupe days but the rest are doing great n healthy. They’re currently spawning on their second season. Four new little ones last made it from last season. Happy for my fish
It is impressive to observe these great beauties of goldfish in their aquariums through these images you offered in the video while we were taught about these species of fish, their characteristics and their way of life and feeding. Charming lovely fish that we all must have at home and shine our home with such beauty
I just want to say the reward is greater than the risk when purchasing feeders. I mean we're talking pennies per fish and many times you can hand pick which fish you want. They're small when you get them so if you're worried about parasites and disease just quarantine and observe them for a few weeks. Will you have your dream fish in your pond? Well maybe, maybe not as they will likely change their coloring as they grow at least to some extent but you're bound to find some really great looking fish that you will love.
One of my friends bought some feeders for fishing. He had a couple he didn’t use and tossed them in his fish tank. They outgrew that so he gave them to me to toss in my pond. They lived for several years there.
Made a mini pond with pond substrate , oxygen plants and lots of floating water lettuce plus a solar fountain . I used to have goldfish 50 years ago as a kid , we would win them at the fair . I don't see the beauty in deformed modern breeds so bought 3 feeders , they are what goldfish are supposed to be , even if they don't live 20 years , they are better off with me than in an empty glass box with 150 others .
Pond Goldfish are the best fish for me because they are very beautiful and colourful. I really like their swimming habits too. Your video was very informative for me to know about Pond Goldfish more better. I really appreciate your time and resources used to prepare this video. Thank you so much for sharing this amazing and well informative video content with us.

However, while choosing your pond fish, it’s vital to determine whether the fish would adapt to to the conditions of your area’s climate during winter. That’s because many aquarium fish are tropical and rarely do well in ponds, and vice versa. Other pond fish also get large and may not be suited for smaller ponds.
Out of eleven feeders, just the smallest one died. They are thriving. And feeders tend to be in a pond for common goldfish. That's their type: common goldfish. Well, of course by their qualifying name, they are not best at being commercialized.
As a UK pond keeper I tell you, your comments on ‘feeder’ goldfish are way off beam. In the States you may keep these near-to-natural pond fish in cramped, overcrowded conditions, but here we treasure them for their subtle beauty - either red or yellow. I suspect you people diss feeder goldfish because they don’t make you so much money as some of the more ‘fancy’ (grotesque) varieties. Go figure...BTW Koi are NOT hardy.
Given I don’t make money from selling fish - I think that point is off. I just know they aren’t kept in the best conditions. And dealing with medicating a pond is a whole other level is expense vs an aquarium. Feeders can do well if you pick the right specimen and can live a long time. I just know they aren’t kept in the best condition. It would be better to search for other varieties like Comets or Shubunkins that aren’t marketed as feeders as conditions would be better and less risky. I also dont recommend fancies to ponds unless it’s a fantail as they are one of the least modified
I have to say that i disagree with you on the points about feeders. That they can carry disease, have a lowered immune system, and can die of ammonia poisoning. THAT'S LITERALLY ANY FISH. 😂 Which is why it's a good idea to quarantine after purchasing.
I don’t sell goldfish 🤷♂️. I just don’t want people to deal with an infected pond. Way more of a hassle then in an aquarium. The investment is a lot more too. You figure if you drop several thousand on a pond you can budget for higher quality fish… I have the same argument for my saltwater people who drop $20K+ on a reef tank but won’t buy preconditioned fish or refused to QT. Now if your fish get eaten by raccoons I get it, but there are things you can do to prevent that. Outside of otters, most predators you can mitigate in a pond.
When I can buy baby fancy goldfish 4 dozens for a dollar why should I buy feeder goldfish. I'm not against buying feeder fishes and giving them a better life , all I'm saying is penny for penny baby fancy goldfish at winter here in Kolkata, India is the cheapest aquarium fish , even cheaper than feeder guppy . I don't have place for a pond , but I had made a pond like structure with old bathtub and on top of that tub I had a 60 gallon Terra cotta pot to get the effect of waterfall. Everywhere I see goldfishes are cold water animal but here in summer temperature can reach upto 41°C , yet goldfishes survived for around 7 years . That structure got destroyed in cyclone in 2020 and all fishes got washed away , we had no way to rescue. But yes feeder fishes can be very good pets , best examples are guppies ...... I've even seen fantail female guppies sold as feeder fish when young and got those beautiful tails when grew up. Very informative and I had no idea about so many koi . There is butterfly goldfishes who grow huge with irredecent silver scales which is also perfect for pond . Can you make a video on goldfish care , I think every fish keeper in their lifetime has at least a pair of them .

My first fish for my pond were feeder goldfish to test out the water. After a couple years half of them have survived and are beautiful now

There is absolutely no issue if you quarantine them - just most ppl won’t 😅
10 years going on my feeders, glad i saved a few!

I don’t know many people who QT feeders - hence the recommendation to avoid them
Oh, don't buy feeder goldfish for $0.25...it's much better to buy OUR $25 fish! ;)
