An old farmer once told me to slowly tighten-loosen and repeat over and over until it’s loose. I’ve had good results with it. As handy as you are why didn’t you just get an older non emissions truck. I got rid of my 2019 cascadia and bought a 2005 W900 with a CAT. So much happier and easy to work on!
Fun fact- Bolts never break where you can get to them easily. Last time it happened to me i bought a right angle drill and some HIGH QUALITY reverse drill bits and easy outs.(German made).Drilling the hole directly in center of bolt is crucial. Glad it worked out for you. ✌️
Hello Robert your broken bolt for the belt tensioner. I have had better luck by heating the bolt cherry red. Then pour cold water on the bolt. By getting it that hot, the bolt expans the cooling it will contact the bolt smaller.
Not too many propane torches can heat anything red hot. When you think Lowe's has high end drill bits you're in trouble. Plus trying to drill mig weld is never fun.
Same here ya gotta get it cherry red then spray it with pb blaster there's something about the chemical and heat on how it gets in the threads but it works. It's great you got it fixed Robert a frickin shop would have stuck it to y'all. Happy Thanksgiving guys
Robert, anytime you need a bolt like that. Instead of lowes or homedepot, go to ace hardware. They have large variety of bolts like that in stock all the time.
Robert: get a private insurance adjuster for your insurance needs, they will get enough to replace both roofs and the insurance company will pay them thru the excessive amounts the insurance will pay you. Worth every penny
Whoever assembled that last time didn't use any anti-seize on it. That's a must when mixing aluminium and steel fasteners. I had the same issue on old airhead BMW motorctcles. The exhaust nuts are aluminum threaded onto a cast iron cylinder barrel.
I think you are correct. Steel bolt , aluminum housing. I had the exact problem doing that tensioner. Had to fight it the whole way. Spoiler alert, wait till you need a starter. It's even more fun.
you must be my twin when it comes to this kind of thing and im a machinist by trade ,i have never had an easy out work for me in 38 years and like you say you need every tool in the building and some borrowed fro folks to do an oil change now days and iv found that if i walk out and go ahead and pound my fist into the concrete a few time i get the inevtible out of the way right off the bat -my hats off to you folks and yes insurance aint worth shit these days
Well, hey there, bub metal and aluminum don’t mix it seized up in there is what happened from that the two metals interacting that’s why before you start messing with those things in the future spray some penetrating oil but get a good good quality one do some research and find out which ones are the best and buy some OK
I feel your pain! Hang in there Robert. Same chit happens to me whenever I try to be proactive. Bought a pickup last week and the transmission just went out. If it's not something, it's always something!
Ive watched your journey on this channel since u started,, u sed u went in2 town 4 bolts,, y didnt u film that bit, goin 2 town, i wud love 2 see around ur town,, thank you, 4 the brilluant entertainment,,, Bri, from manchester, britain..😊😊😊
Hello Lita and Robert. I thought those bolt outs would have worked. I have a 3-piece set and for the one I used it for, it came out easily. Perhaps some peanut brain put super glue on the bolts before installing it. At least you got it out and in. That's what she was hoping for. I do hope that you applied the correct amount of torque on that bolt. Have good days!
Can you imagine if it was at a KW dealership and they broke it off? "Here's your bill Sir. $257 for the tensioner, $131 for the belt and $4747.16 to remove a broken bolt"
Do you not have auto part stores like napa? Congrats on the repair. That was a good outcome to a bad situation. Be sure to get a spare bolt. Did the insurance pick up the tree removal? Wood fence prices in Oklahoma run about $25/foot doing post cutoffs. Don't let them lowball you. At least get cost and materials. Same for that chicken coop. That should be considered an outbuilding. Here if a tree falls over they don't pay unless it also damages a structure. Had one get pushed over and it pulled up a septic line. They wouldn't have paid anything except it also pulled the wires off the house. If the quotes come in higher, put the quotes up on their website and then call ypur agent for review. 3.6k is a pretty reasonable price if the do a decent job. Be sure to look at the rv roof too. Are your cats ok through all of that? Don't get frustrated. Life's too short as it is. If you internalize it, you will just stress yourself into a heart event. Not worth it. And stop drinking those dang energy drinks. Those things are poison. Thanks for the videos.
You just gotta keep your head up and persist like you do. I’ve been in this situation many times on my cars and pickups. Wanna “cry” and give up 😂😂. I’ve been told all bolts are cap screws till they get a nut, then it’s a bolt. So a bolt is a nutted screw😂😂
I just worked on my garage door, same shit, replaced the broken spring then the bearings on both sides were bad, replaced them 4 days later after getting the parts it is fixed easy job my ass, lol
You need anti seize on everything now! You need an electric induction bolt heater, I have seen (Andrew Camarata on youtube) use one and it super heats the bolt without heating the surrounding area, it fits over the bolt head, stop struggling with those design SNAFU nightmares!!! I 'm so happy to hear you are both home for Thanksgiving, I hope the holiday gives you some new energy and well deserved rest. Happy Thanksgiving!
Hey Robert glad you got it fixed. Really look forward to all your videos, you make me not feel so bad about my crappy never ending BS . Y’all have a great Thanksgiving, see ya on next video.😎👍
I wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving to you both. I think you guys getting back out on the road will help because I am sure being home this long you have been worrying about money.
You can select and change that the windows roll down when you unlock the door. It should be on the instrument display in settings. What if you had something valuable in you ford and you accidentally pushed that button and rolled down the window at the store or something. On the belt tensioner did you put antiseez on the bolts. It will a lot easier the next time. I do mean there will be a next time. Unless you got a dorman or OEM belt tensioner. Me once the bolt broke off the second time that accessory braket that holds the a/C compressor and alternator. I would take it off be easier to drill out. Work smarter not harder and you worked way to hard and long. But I am glad you didn't give up and order a new bracket. Welcome to my world I worked on trucks for 20 years. Yes now I'm driving them. Bring a truck mechanic tore my body up. I was a couple pulls from blowing my shoulders out. My knees where already shot along with my back. Good luck out there hope you get back on the road soon. We miss you guys out there.
You can take a nut approximately the size of the square end of the easy out and trive the easy out into that nut then that will give you a good spot for a socket and some front pressure.
You need an oxy/acetylene torch they don't call em heat wrenchs for a good reason and get that bolt red hot spray it with some kind of penetrating stuff might have to do it several times and heat around the bolt. steel bolts and aluminum results in corrosion almost like welding the bolt in.Also that bolt may have been overtightened by someone in there before you .
They don’t put anti corrosion grease on the bolts at the factory, and then when they break they hope you take it to the main dealer so they can charge you to fix it.
Think about leasing your to a company. The company I drive for leases trucks. Matter fact they have terminal in Jasper TN. They do flatbed and step deck. I been toying at the idea. Some of the drivers can make like 80% of the load. You use there equipment trailers, chains and binders there 4 inch strap and tarps. Think about it. We normally run from the plains to the southeast coast.
the pipes are the clean air to your air compressor, only five bolts hold the accessory drive bracket on, would have been easy to remove the bracket and drill the bolt out and install a helicoil kit. three days lost would have been cheaper to buy a new bracket and get on the road. i hate that bolt, about a ten percent chance you end up pulling the threads or it breaks.
You can turn that window down feature off in the radio screen. That same thing happened to me a couple years ago but I didn’t have the problem of rain I had someone rob my truck in a hotel parking lot. The feature is called express window
I had that happen on a ford car of mine the window would roll down or up the alarm would go off or it would unlock it self with out touching the key fob and found out if you change the battery in the key fob it stopped doing that. The battery was short circuiting it and making the car do all kinds of stupid stuff. Maybe the battery in the key fob is going bad. Try changing it!!!! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving to you and the family from Southern Oregon
The last time I saw one like that I had a claim on the engine and the Shop disassembled the whole front end and replaced the Acessory front engine surround mounting plate. I believe that is what they called it. Paccar paid for it 17 hours labor it takes 2 people a days work. This is not uncommon for that one bolt to do that. This truck like yours only had 124000 miles.
Galvanic corrosion is bItch sometimes. It can make your life miserable for sure lol Something that works for me is to weld a big blob on the end of the bolt (it will not harm the aluminum) first, especially if the bolt is broke below the surface and this will give you something to weld your nut or washer to.
I get motivated watching how hard you work, dude you do more in one day then I do in a month. See you on the road! Have a happy and safe new year.
when im having a bad day, i watch ur videos my bad day goes away.
An old farmer once told me to slowly tighten-loosen and repeat over and over until it’s loose. I’ve had good results with it. As handy as you are why didn’t you just get an older non emissions truck. Good Job Robert, and y'all be safe.

@@Sydwayz504 that’s where I found it lol. Amazing selection of bolts!
I have got to hand it to you Robert, you don't give up easy. Great job. Happy Thanksgiving too you guys. Prayers ❤.
He don't have time to give up.
Robert: get a private insurance adjuster for your insurance needs, they will get enough to replace both roofs and the insurance company will pay them thru the excessive amounts the insurance will pay you. Worth every penny
Yep an easy fix, multi day job. Glad you got it done
Robert, FYI, Mix equal parts ATF & acetone makes a super combo to loosen stuck bolts !
Whoever assembled that last time didn't use any anti-seize on it. That's a must when mixing aluminium and steel fasteners. I had the same issue on old airhead BMW motorctcles. The exhaust nuts are aluminum threaded onto a cast iron cylinder barrel.
You always manage to get stuff done, you are not a 90% er. Shit happens Robert and you should give yourself much more credit, you kind of awesome man.
Glad you were persistent and gotter done!😊
I feel your pain. I thought I was the only one shit like that happened to 😂
Me 2 I try to remove an water pump in a Camry and ends up with drooping the whole engine 😂😂😂 that was a night mare 😂😂
Thing like that bolt is why I go to a shop for somethings. I get a day and a half off. You know something easy turns into all weekend job
Good job man. Bit of advise... NEVER over heat an easy out or any heat treated tool that requires a given hardness.
That's why I ask guys that do this for a living spends thousands of dollars. Are really quality tools
The Struggle is real, feel your frustration bro!
Great job Robert 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Happy Thanksgiving Robert and Lita.
You got there in the end.
I think you are correct. Steel bolt , aluminum housing.
I had the exact problem doing that tensioner. Had to fight it the whole way.
Spoiler alert, wait till you need a starter. It's even more fun.
Nice T shirt
it’s not just you, it happens to all of us, it’s never easy
Pray 🙏❤
I’m watching you use the easy out and I’m saying let it work for Robert 🙏🏻
robert dont feel bad i hav stuff happen 2 me like tht if ever thing goes gd i wonder whts going 2 happen next , I love ur determination.
Unbelievable! I'm with you Robert, seems when I'm working on something, it's always a F ing fight!
I hear ya
Lita is right. I have use PB and heat cycles to change exhaust manifolds. It just takes patience.
you must be my twin when it comes to this kind of thing and im a machinist by trade ,i have never had an easy out work for me in 38 years and like you say you need every tool in the building and some borrowed fro folks to do an oil change now days and iv found that if i walk out and go ahead and pound my fist into the concrete a few time i get the inevtible out of the way right off the bat -my hats off to you folks and yes insurance aint worth shit these days

Helicoil and tap after you get bolt out .use antiseize
HAPPY THANKSGIVING Robert & Lita!!
Pepper has officially joined the SGHS show, she's a cool cat
Be safe out there

You should invest in some left hand drill bits… the extractors work great with them.
Can you imagine if it was at a KW dealership and they broke it off? "Here's your bill Sir. $257 for the tensioner, $131 for the belt and $4747.16 to remove a broken bolt"
Things be like that sometimes..glad you got through it!
Do you not have auto part stores like napa?

Did the insurance pick up the tree removal?

😂😂😂 just like owning a boat 😂😂😂😂 it keeps you on your toes 😮😮
You have to make that shit glow with a real torch . Fuck those easy outs . I feel your pain .
The things that don't kill us makes us stronger. Happy Thanksgiving to your family
Anytime I feel things aren’t going my way I just watch one of your videos and find out I don’t got it so bad. Things could be a lot worse.
Dis similar metals, Robert, try tightening a bit before loosing. Go back and forth many times...
Good luck my man!
I know it's past time but I've had bad experiences with steel in aluminum. I usually drill the bolt out and put a helicoil in it.
I had one of those days yesterday. Head up butter cup.
Glad I parked my shit forever. I don’t miss the simplest job turning into all day or worse.
You know when you buy a good set of deill bits. A set that size would be $300 of they are acrually good. Pay once then sharpen when needed
I love all your videos keep up the good work
After watching this, I'm so happy I put anti-seize lubricant when I changed mine.

Your persistence is inspiring.
Hard to hesat aluminum cause it spreads the heat. So you might need a rose bud to heat it better and faster
Happy thanksgiving to you and your family and dogs 🦃
When it’s time to replace the tensioner on my x15. I’m going to the dealer. Just because of this video.

I wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving to you both.
I think you guys getting back out on the road will help because I am sure being home this long you have been worrying about money.
22nd from Florida 👊🏻💪🏻
He Robert fighting depression I here you bro Canada is even worse you have hope with Trump
Happy Thanksgiving
Need to spray that down with Deep Creep penetrating oil. And when you add some heat, magic happens.
THAT CRESCENT WRENCH IS ONLY DESIGNED TO WORK LIKE A PIPE WRENCH. TURN IT OVER SO YOU DONT BREAK IT.
Good deal bud you won a well fought battle there. Hope yall have a wonderful Turkey Day !
I dropped my dictionary today and when I picked it up it was opened to the word badass. Guess who's picture was next to badass? YOU.
Yeah,Happy Thanksgiving from CDN/ Robert & Lita
The threads galled

Longer Breaker bar Robert.

Happy Thanksgiving Robert and Lita
Rob, where do you find the patience from? I would of drilled it out and put a nut and bolt in.
we have the same luck my friend but i think my injector wiring harness fixed my 60 series I hope
Its called mechanic work
WOBERT!!!

That tensioner bolt is a Cummins part.
good job I know how you feel
Any bolt you need try Macmaster Carr they have pretty much anything
They don’t put anti corrosion grease on the bolts at the factory, and then when they break they hope you take it to the main dealer so they can charge you to fix it.

Aluminum disopates heat faster than steel. The steel expanda when hot. So you were kind of workikg against yourself. Always tighten then loosen bolts.
Guess that’s why Lita calls you a stud
you need a big torch to get it red hot.
Insurance is of the "DEVIL". Smart idea using the blower to dry out the truck. What about just drill it out and use a bolt?
Galvanic corrosion is bItch sometimes. It can make your life miserable for sure lol
