I have my armor 9 around a month now and i have to say i am pretty amazed with this phone. Already dropped it like 10 times and no scratch what so ever. What i also like (not sure if this is a android 10 feature) is the unterwater mode, which locks the touchscreen, so the water does not accidently opens apps and such.
I have had this phone for about 9-10 months and these are my thoughts. I wanted to get away from mainstream phones and into something durable. I loved it at start, I dropped it countless of time in its case and never a slight sign of damage. I used to take it running with me, and I would clean it while showering. The camera, mike and speaker were not the best but they were fine by me.. Until one day, cleaning it under running water the screen completely fried up. All the water proof advertised comes from the sealing cover of the charging port. Over months the same seal must be opened and closed every time one wishes to recharge the phone. I would estimate I have done probably between 100 or 150 or so full charges on average 1 every 2.5 days. Without the user realizing it the seal will not seal so well anymore, and so the waterproof protection will be completely gone without one knowing. This is where problems started. Replacing the fried up screen was a nightmare. Company support outside China is not existent, they are happy to carry a repair for you if you ship the device to them 40-60 days round trip. Also water damage is not covered into the warranty (but don't they advertise it as waterproof?) and the cost and time of repairs become ridiculous. So reluctant to change the phone and not wanting I bought the full screen (official Ulefone Armor 9 replacement) and took it to a local technician to carry out the screen replacement. Things seemed to go back to normal, however I refrained from testing again its water proof capability that were clearly no longer there. A few weeks after while backpacking on some sandy beaches with the phone in the backpack I realized the phone had overheated (sure it was hot, maybe the bag was dark, but overheating in such a condition?). Anyhow, that was its final death. It started rebooting uncontrollably. I was unwilling to spend a single penny more in this piece of good looking Chinese junk that last less than 1 year.
Its water resistance wears off when you "wash" it everyday... Lol.. The seal will wither quickly with frequent exposure to water and different temperatures... Basically avoid water contact when possible... If you wanted to use it underwater, just buy waterproof phone pouch... Even if they say it is waterproof, the fact that it is still "public" mass production electronic device...
I do not work in the field, but I still got this phone so I can things that no one else has like rugged design and Thermal Camera , and I am happy with it
That is one amazing handset... I really would like that if I wasn't such a gamer... Or even a second phone for me... Perfect combo... A work phone like this and a gaming phone for home...
It doesn't really mean too much, the actual materials that build up a phone matter more than those kind of testing. I mean look at it. You think a V60 is gonna survive more than this??
Yes But there's levels to the mil spec Just like there is in things like say, waterproofing rating The shattered back plate of my G6 back in the day can testify to this
i bought this phone and i was very happy about it, until it arrived and i discoverd the camera cant focus anything, focus lenght is stuck. is there any setting i have to do or is it broken out of the box?
Purchased during the presales. I was a Nokia fan up until now. Got 4 days out of one charge, averages 2-3 speaker isn't bad when you hold the phone, it sort of bounces back. Its pretty responsive too. Watch the teardown video, 20 mins to complete strip, no adhesives in stupid places just rubber seals. Easiest phone to repair to date. :-) sorry for the long msg

Well after Nokia, I've been using UAG Monarch cases for the active/rugged feel. Been great, used one several of my phones. My go-to case. Also Ringke Fusion X is a great buy for rugged design.
So, one of the main distinguishing features of this phone is the endoscope, and the review just says "we ran into a bit of a mishap, but anyway, moving on...". Yeah, useful.
I love mine. he wasn't kidding on the battery. I've had up to 24 days on battery saver mode. the camera is as he said, kinda meh. the sound wasn't as good as my LG v20, but damn if this thing isn't built like a tank! works on all networks. just plug in your sim and power up. Will definitely get another in the years to come.
Ulefone don't even resist splashing water. Bought a Ulefone Armor 3T for 7 months specifically for water sports. Have been cautious for the first six months. Always use water proof phone ziplock cover before kayaking. Finally decided to put this phone to a test for it's IP68/ IP69K standards. Naked phone on my spray skirt with cord hanging on my neck while kayaking to open water. Didn't even drop it to the sea. Just keep splashing sea water to the phone. 15 mins later, picked it up trying to take some pictures. The screen shut off after a brief flash. Never power up again. Took it to the sole agent for repair. The first thing they said was that warranty do not cover water sports. What is this policy?! A self-proclaimed rugged phone do not cover water sport damaged? And they even said that there is a test paper set inside the phone. If the test paper change color, it means that this phone has been damaged by water and it's out of warranty? This even make me more confused. What is the logic behind? The test paper can proof that this phone maybe damaged by water, but why it makes warranty voided? Why the manufacturer claim it a rugged phone to start with? 3 weeks later, repair center called and said that the antenna cap wasn’t shut completely when use in water. They keep changing alibis to stay away from responsibilities. Unreliable business attitude.
Of all the reviews I watch for these ( I'm looking for a rigged phone for someone) no one ever comments on what carriers it works on. Will this thing work on Verizon?
Thank you for the review. I am a bit dissapointed by the camera, i have an cat s60. I used the flir cam sometimes. maybe not to much to make a worth out of it but it is nice to have anyway.
As with many phones reaching into the midrange market, the deal-breaker for me is the lack of attention to sound quality and the inclusion of stereo speakers. I realize this type of phone may not be the niche that most people find that a priority, but it is a disturbing trend by manufacturers. Phones' primary function is still communication, and to me, that means sound quality should be more important than 50 percent of the cost being biased toward cameras.
@ I conduct calls on speakerphone, I listen to music, and other audio broadcasts while I'm otherwise occupied. The quality and clarity of that are directly connected to the immediate proximity to the phone.
@ totally not the point. If I spend over 200 dollars for a phone, I should reasonably be able to expect a quality audio experience. This phone is 500 dollars. I shouldn't have to carry around extra speakers or have them in multiple places to accommodate an underperforming phone.
@ I have some Bluetooth stuff, but again that's not the point. What has happened with smartphones, perhaps it has something to do with where a majority are made, is that a device whose primary function is and should still be communication and audio quality has been sacrificed in favor of cameras. The most important function of a phone is call reliability and quality. I could care less about whether a phone takes 16mp pictures or 64mp pictures. There reaches a saturation point where it's just a marketing tool to drive the price up as most people can not distinguish photo quality to that microscopic degree.
Yeah IR thermalcam ftw, would love a decent sensor-size in a smartphone, even those cheap 240x320 microbolometer sensors perform quite solid, imo ua-cam.com/video/2rNIJhWiRtM/v-deo.html a shame that GSMarena did not state the refresh rate for the FLIR IR cam, but likely sub 8hz that will be con live views, particularly with that low res FLIR sensor, though FLIR edge detection MSX does help to a certain extent.

Three years on and the touchscreen is non responsive about 50 times a day and requires screen lock/unlock to start working again. That's after three years of use in an office environment. This is a rugged phone.. seriously? Hardware issues are understandable, but Ulefone's service centre dismissal of any claims of problems of this sort existing on a wider scale, advice to have the phone reset to factory settings each time and generally really poor and unhelpful attitude is not the after sales support a global company should be delivering.
