The kanliu emulation was really succesful I was thinking it reminded me of kanliu before she mentioned it. He's like one of the god tier artists I always study so I emidiately recognized it

I don't read horoscopes or study astrology exactly, but I'm really into birthdays and personalities. Check out the book The Secret Language of Birthdays by the late Gary Goldschneider. He was a savant who remembered everything he ever heard/read. At a young age he started collecting up people's birth dates and years upon years of this, he found repetitive patterns, and that's how the book came to be.

As an August Leo, I have always hated Peridot too. However, I have come to love my birthstone silver cross that my mom got me for my birthday last year. I'd love to see your Monkey, Virgo, Waterbender with a training companion Horse, Leo, Firebender. Those were both beautiful pieces of art. Alysia (sorry can't spell), my Pisces, goat daughter will love this artwork, although I think she is sometimes the little fish, rather than the big sea creature. I think it looks like the dragon is fascinated by the tiny fish, like its baby or something. It looks loving to me, rather than "Get in my belly!".

Ariel, I feel you so much on the boring horoscope. I'm also a virgo and I'm a rooster in the chinese horoscope. I'd rather be a monkey than a rooster. But a rooster virgin would be a very interesting task to draw :D

The anime Fruits Basket is based around zodiac signs and each of the animals has a character and the rooster is one of my favourites.......if that helps 😂😂😂

I personally reject all notion of star signs, because people think that, if they can find out your sign, then they already know everything about your personality and have already labelled you before even trying to get to know you. :/

Apparently I'm an earth sheep capricorn with garnet as my birthstone. I thought I was a monkey for so many years because I forgot the gregorian calendar doesn't line up with the lunar calendar. 😅

You both did an amazing job. Your depictions were so unique yet still distinctly the signs and elements you set out to illustrate. You've inspired me to attempt a portrayal of my own sign. I've always liked my sign elements, even if they've often been portrayed in a negative light. I'm a Scorpio, which is a water sign, and was born in the year of the Snake. Being born under either can suggest a cunning and calculated individual with a very active mind. As someone with ADHD, I can at least agree with that last part. My ruling planet is Pluto which governs destruction and transformation. In Greek mythology, Pluto was the ruler of the Underworld and was later known as Hades. Dark stuff. The theme continues with my colours too. Dark red, maroon, black and brown. All warm colours which contrast beautifully with the cooler tones traditionally aligned with water. My birthstone is also warm, though I've never liked it. Yellow topaz.
I'm an Earth Dragon Sag so I'm pretty happy with my signs.
Mine could be interesting to draw... Fire dog, Aquarius, Amethyst. Cause like you have this Fire dog, who is carrying water, but is an Air sign- So three different elements

This was so fun, both drawings looked so cool. I think i can out Vanilla Aerial with Libra (such a boring sign) my Chinese sign is Rabbit which is a bit meh but i just looked up the element and it is fire which is pretty awesome and my birthstone is opal. Other than the set of scales that could be a pretty nice mash up.

I love both your art pieces. I know I'm a Cancer ♋️ and a Wood Rat, a while back I kinda drew my signs as a monsterious combination 😅 since at the time it was halloween and what not, but now would have to try and figure out some kind of cute design for them.

I'm a september virgo rabbit and I feel for you were kinda a boring horoscope but then I got really into greek mythology and it kinda changed my mind were very similar when it comes to Artemis the goddess of hunting, Athena goddess of wisdom and battle strategy and a bit like Aphrodite goddess of love. were supposed to be represented by a virgin or maiden which Artemis is as all her hunters and Athena. also the story behind the stars is the goddess Astrea helped her Titan father by being a bearer of lightning during the war between the Titans and the Gods. Zeus respected her loyalty and decided to raise her into the heavens, placing her among the stars and creating the constellation Virgo.

I don't understand Ariel's hate on the monkey. Monkeys are awesome! I was born in the year if the water monkey, I'm a capricorn which is an earth sign and my birthstone is garnet. Idk how you'd convey earth and water simultaneously, maybe the character in mud or something. But my love for my Chinese sign is because of Sun Wu Kong from Jackie Chan adventures, I love that show and I miss it.

I don't think I've seen someone draw Virgo as a martial artist before, but having seen it I'm now really wondering why not. The pose even looks a little like the Virgo symbol ♍️!

This is a really fun idea and both pieces are absolutely gorgeous.
I also kind of feel Ariel on being disappointed with your zodiac. Not the western mind you, but when I was a kid and found out that of all the super cool Chinese zodiac animals I was a friggin rat I did feel a bit let down.
Nowadays I don't mind it as much cuz rats are really cute and fascinating in their own right, but I mean dragons... *sighs in Ace*
Also my western zodiac is Taurus and my birthstone is the Emerald. I don't know what my element is though, or how to figure it out.
