I had one and I had the encryption unit that went between the battery and the radio, And mine was digital. Was a gift when I was in the Canadian forces. Mine had the original Battery. Good radios, But I now just stick to Amateur radio.
Haney Electronic is really cool, I've got some stuff for my manual switchboards and field phones from him. I would definitely send any PRC-type radios I got to him for a full checkup.

I used to get sent to the commo room by 1sg and asked for a PRC E-7... I never got one.. did ALOT of push ups though
