I just got the new TRI with the KDU & plan to do some videos on it. I just found your videos & feel the same as you... serious lack of information on what seems to be a GOOD communications option.
PT is Plaintext, LD is Load, CT is cyphertext. Demil’ed/Replica aren’t going to allow you to use the CT function at all. I think the TRI isn’t compatible with chirp so the LD function would also be useless.
I really appreciate any and all information you can supply on the TRI PRC152. For a radio that seems to be out there and used by a lot of people, there isn't an awful lot of "Dummy's Guide" type info. Your videos are helping a lot. Thank you
Thanks for the vid, very helpful, I've had my TCA for some time now and it's massively under used , mainly down to my ignorance and lack of knowledge. Your vid is a real help and I can't wait for part 2! I'm getting much more opportunities to use it at the moment, so discovering your video and channel couldn't have come at a better time! Thanks again
Depending on how close of a replica radio this is you might be able to find stuff at military surplus stores. I know a couple here where I live had some antennas, PTT’s, headsets, and even military batteries that hooked up to the replica a friend bought. That’s what got me watching videos about them, because I want to get one now.
Would love to see parts 2 and 3! Getting a TCA 152 so it would be nice to have a video reference as there is still a void here on youtube for that content.

I thought it was funny though... "see, this is perfectly legal" but it isn't. As accurate as the misunderstood quotes from Wikipedia about the functions and terms.
This is the detailed English manual for the prc 152a by TCA. look under where the plug types are and theres a section "attachments" and its the pdf file..... It mentions a caller ID and group calling along with remote kill and remote stun and the code to disable the "all lock" but the call function allows you to call 1 single person say out of a 5 person group... without the other 4 hearing it... or call all 5 persons without the "other team(s)" hearing it or could call just the other team...... without yours hearing it if your were that kind of guy.... lmao. But it explains this as: 3 teams of 5 people (15 different caller ID's) (not sure if that's the limit or just the example they give) however essentially you just dial up the other person's other caller ID..... SOMEHOW.. its not totally clear.... and I've never seen this explained anywhere else on the internet but would LOVE to hear & see how / then go buy a few of these tca units... just use my tri as a base station as it has a higher power output anyways than these tca's... but I don't think any radio would be more worthy than these TCA's when knowing how to fully utilize this Caller ID / Single call / Group calling function. I'm just trying to find someone willing to try or testify about this function. Unfortunately need two. I've been wanting to buy one but haven't got an interested buddy in willing to buy another one to test with- sucks. TCA, it has better overall construction and better front face programing interface.
