Really enjoyed the two videos. Felt you, took me along for the journey. Initially, I thought it could be a trip for me and my wife next year but quickly realised she would not like it and not long after realised I would not be able to do it either. Well done to you both. Maybe take on some of the NZ routes next time you are both here.
I was staring to feal the fear about riding the WHW in September but watching this makes me feel better. That looked epically savage but also awe-inspiring, what a beautiful country we live it. Good job youtube algorithm. Awesome ride Katy & Joe. 👏
Awesome Video! Rode the H550 with my son and mate back in August 2022. Did it over 12 days and found it tough but exhilarating. We took tents and decided to camp, the midgies were horrendous, right move to stay in accommodation :-). Congrats again!
Thank you! Aw man, that’s rad good on you guys, tenting would take it to a new level that I wasn’t ready to go for yet haha! Nice one! Awesome route hey! Hope the weather was alright for you guys!
You two are nails, that was epic. I grew up on the west coast riding those kind of paths and the speed you were blowing through them was incredible. Top effort!
Brilliant, thanks for capturing as much as you did on video, the bikes were not up to this terrain in my day. Fisherfield looks as spectacular as I imagined (have only looked across it fro the summit of An Teallach). I know the climb up from Glen Licht very well - once had to carry the bike down it as brake blocks had been worn away by Affric grit. Anyone thinking of doing this route give yourself much more time/days than you think - Katy & Joe are ultra-fit pro-racers and had long midsummer days so were able to complete each stage in daylight.
Another brilliant video, I even recognised quite a few of the tracks although, in fairness, I did many of them on foot! Thanks for sharing your amazing adventure.
Superb, you guys passed us just as you were about start the single track climb out of Kintail, got to admit I wasn't envious of what lay ahead of you on the climb to Camban 🤮 Well done both, and congrat's to Joe on that epic ToD ride 👊
Finally finished both parts of this mamoth adventure and it was worth watching all the way to the end! I take my hat off to both of you for both getting through this epic adventure and also for keeping so cool with each other during the whole process. Really interested to hear what inspired taking on this challenge and the idea behind doing it the way that you did? Also on a very geeky level would love to have heard what your bike set up was like and how you found trying to fit all of the storage needed onto the bike... I am asuming that it is a wee bit different from racing an EDR world cup event!! Anyway massive respect to both of you and just a big thanks for a really great epic adventure!!
Thanks for watching it all!! Joe was keen to ride it to check the route out for potentially racing it in future. And I thought it was be an awesome training camp and the perfect way to see more of my home country. We stayed in hotels etc. because recovery was super important for me to make sure I would be ready for the rest of the race season. We mapped out basically wherever we could find accommodation and used joes experience on roughly how long distances/terrain/elevation would take and then looked at whether that would be so able for us or not. I defo needed him there as he was far better at tracking our progress. In terms of set up, it was pretty chill the bike was just heavier. The seat bag was annoying because I couldn’t get my weight back past the saddle so it made for sketchy biking. I put my saddle down about 2cm, and enjoyed the faster rolling tyres over pedalling the DH ones use for enduro. 😁
Really loved these videos. Your energy was great and you really showed alot of grit! Keeping it real on UA-cam! 😃✌️ Massive Respect to Joe aswell, coming off the back of the GDMBR. What a Fabulous Route. Keep up the amazing Pedalling ❤️☺️✌️
Thanks, that’s awesome to hear!! Haha ano right, camping is a whole other level! I’d leave my waterproof trousers, they’re the only thing I didn’t use. Although, you can never be too sure of the Scottish weather, if it’d got cold they would have been a saviour!
Doing this in June this year. Been on the to do list for a long time. These videos you posted are amazing in terms of information for research. Thank you. I can’t wait. Great stuff Katie and Joe 🙏👌
Brilliant couple of vids showcasing the route, brought back vivid memories of bikepacking the route back in 2008 on a rigid single speed before ms took any hope of getting on a bike again. Loved the" Ooos" and "Ahhs" as you encountered the views opening up.
@@KatyWinton Rode single speed only since early 90’s so didn’t have the sense to know better :), these days if I can stand up on my own never mind walk more than 2 steps it’s a good day. Keep at the bike packing and good luck for next years EWS
Excellent stuff, wouldn't advise folk to do the HT550 as their first try at bikepacking though lol. So props for that. On the WHW i did an out and back in July coming back was tough going.
What were you using to strap the bikes to your back? Looks like a neat solution! Amazing scenery; would love to try this one day. Over about 3 weeks :D
Great to hear you enjoyed them ☺️ yeah the harness was awesome, I get sore arms in the overly bent position when holding the bike on my back, the harness meant I was just dealing with the weight. Stoked I had it!

That’s fair, it is pretty daunting but it’s so worth it in so many ways!! All the best with your mission when it comes! 😊
Thanks for watching!!
'Bikepacking is sick!' -agreed!!
Brilliant effort!! Scotland delivering on the scenery and bog! Haha. Thanks for capturing it on film 🎥 😊
Very much enjoyed this 2 part Series Katy. We look forwards to seeing more like this!
Stoked to hear it! Thanks, more coming this NZ summer 😍
Great watching, some team, all the best
Thanks Katy well done to you both great video glad you liked Scotland
Well done both. I bet Joe loved you when you suggested the HT 550 as a "holiday" after the divide! 😂
I know right 🤣 luckily he’s a savage!

Awesome videos and adventures. Makes me want to go and visit and add to my bucket list
Great video, stunning views and you're a natural in front of the camera.
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed it 😁
We all know you have grit Katy, but that was a gnarly , testing adventure, and you smashed it !!👏
Haha thank you! 😁
Epic! Thank you for sharing your journey, I loved every minute of it
So glad you enjoyed it 🥰 thanks for watching!!
A great watch, was cool to see a pair of great riders up against the distance and terrain. Well done to the pair of you !
Great to hear you enjoyed it! Thank you 😊

Thanks so much! What a place to grow up 😍
Slayed it, love the outro, so true on rides like this all you have to think about is riding, eating, sleeping and repeat 🎆🎇
Sweet trip, amazing views!
“Bikepacking is pretty sick” sums it up so well. This video is pretty sick. Thanks for taking us along on the journey.
My pleasure, thanks for coming along!
You 2 are the cutest!! Thanks for sharing your adventure.
Thanks for watching!!
Superb - great to see that you enjoyed it so much! Really good to get a more detailed view of the 550 route from the other side of the world!
Oh man absolutely loved it! Made me appreciate Scotland even more! 😊

Loved both videos. Absolutely amazing scenery and landscape.
Sooo, is it Tour Divide next? ;)
Absolutely not 🤣🤣🤣 but got something else up my sleeve!!
Absolutely loved that!!
Stoked to hear it!!! Thank you for watching 😁😁
Brilliant watch. Hopefully youl get what you want for 2024 x
Thank you 😊

Stoked to hear you enjoyed it! Cool you recognised some of the tracks, what a place 😍
Legend pal! First bike packing vid I have watched I can’t imagine being able to do. Hats off
Thanks pal!!
Very inspiring, just brilliant! I hope I can keep that cheery after I've puked my way up the next huge climb! 😅
Hahaha 😂😂
Great video Katy and yes inspirational to get organising a multi day bike adventure for next year. Well done on your edr overall position too
Great to hear 😍 thank you!!
My dad lived in Gairloch. Why on earth he moved is anyone's guess!!! Stunning place.
Amazing videos, so inspiring.

Thanks for a great video. Top effort. Reminded me of remote bike touring 15years ago. Love how you shared your joy and struggles
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Super inspiring and what an incredible landscape. Thanks for taking us along on an epic journey, happy pedalling team.
Thank you! And thanks for watching 😁
Epic film. Thanks for the ride.

@@KatyWinton 🤘🏻I’ll be most likely to be binge watching rest of your vids thank you Katy 🤘🏻
fab and really made me wan to try some thing similar, I would not camp either!, what would you leave behind if you were to do it again?
Thanks, that’s awesome to hear!! Haha ano right, camping is a whole other level! I’d leave my waterproof trousers, they’re the only thing I didn’t use. Although, you can never be too sure of the Scottish weather, if it’d got cold they would have been a saviour!

Fantastic!! Hope you have an absolute ball 😍 it’s my favourite adventure I’ve ever been on! Glad you enjoyed the videos, have an awesome time!

On a ridgid single speed!!! You absolute wild man! Fair play! Glad you enjoyed the vids! Hope you’re finding other outlets with MS ❤️

Watch out for the Red and Pink ones they can be Hallucinogenic..!!!
Joe can hop rocks on that hard tail!
The skills on that man! Wild!

Agreed, not a first try route 🙈 good job, that’s a solid shift!

Omg I bet the river is cold 🥶
Chilly but not icey cold haha!
Brilliant set of videos loved them.
How did you get on with the bike carry harness are they worth it??
Great to hear you enjoyed them ☺️ yeah the harness was awesome, I get sore arms in the overly bent position when holding the bike on my back, the harness meant I was just dealing with the weight. Stoked I had it!
Did you end up wanting a bike with less suspension? I imagine back-packing with the enduro rig was fairly draining.
Fortunately I don’t know any different! For my next mission I’m defo planning to use an XC bike though 🤣👌
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
Never get my mountain bike on my back . She a steel and bloody heavy..
😵💫💪
Urgh! Coffin Road!
😂😂
Probably the drollest and most humourless HT550 video I've seen. That voice is grating
🤣 hope you haven’t subscribed! This voice isn’t going anywhere 😅
@@KatyWinton Don't worry I haven't.
