This is a mod of Wind Waker that took two weeks to make. Changing Link's model as well as his items and some animations, Aryll into Saria, Mila into Malon, with multiple custom maps and other model changes, even a custom Navi actor!
The content showcased will eventually be released as part of a mod pack. No original assets will be distributed. Make sure to check out the pinned comment for more info!
Custom models were made with Blender 2.79, Model Helper Scripts & SuperBMD.

April Fools! Surely you didn't expect an actual full or official game, right? :P
Huh, you're saying you want this to be released anyway? Hmm... It did take a lot of work to get this ready for this date...
Well, good news!
While it is not a full or brand new game, all that was showcased here will someday be made available in the form of a mod pack!
This video was made in two weeks with very little sleep, as a proof of concept to show some of what can be done with Wind Waker modding.
However, please understand that this is a very large amount of work for a single person (Over a hundred hours were spent working on this, for example) and that my free time is often limited, so it will take a while to have a proper release, especially when I have many other projects in the works.

This includes content such as my Malon / Romani mod and my Dark Linka mod pack, 6 months in the making, which already has the Desert Colossus map shown here. There is also the original Young Link mod (based on Majora's Mask) made by Bird of Light to keep you waiting until my version of the character is available for download.

- The character style is not meant to replicate Wind Waker's 1:1, but rather a mix between it and OoT. When the Link mod releases however, 3 versions will be available. WW Style (Same head and eye shape as Toon Link), Altered WW Style (Slightly changed proportions, different eyes) and WoT Style (Shown in this video, proportions closer to OoT artwork and OoT 3D) for you to choose.
- As mentioned above, the Link mod (alongside Navi and a fairy pack later on) will release in the near future, including a custom boat, most likely Epona-themed. The Navi actor will receive updates to her behavior post-release. The maps and other extras shown here will release when more work is completed to connect them if not create a mod pack themed around them.
- This is not an OoT mod, nor is it "fake" or an animation. It is a a WW mod.
- There is no Adult Link as of right now, that is impossible to add for various reasons. However, it is something that is being looked at for the future. The Master Sword uses a mix of the WW and OoT design, it is not simply the WW Master Sword as the project idea was not meant to just take from WW's elements.
- There are no plans to fully remake OoT in WW's engine; that is a ridiculous amount of work that would require a lot of custom coding, assets and testing. Unless I were to have a large and dedicated team to work with, it is unrealistic to expect any large-scale fan project that would be fully-complete.
- For any minor nitpicks / flaws, please remember that this was made in exactly two weeks with very little sleep and not much feedback during development, so I did not have much time to do any polishing or experimenting.
- The reason why this was done in WW and not TP is simply because I'm the main modder for WW, and TP does not currently have the same modding capabilities. And despite preferring TP as a game, WW's style is a lot more charming which makes it more fun and malleable to work with.
- And I can't believe I have to say this, but for anyone saying this came out on April 2nd instead of April 1st, timezones exist. I have to edit this once again because of the unneeded large amount of annoying comments regarding this. In my region I posted the video at 10 PM on April 1st, and it premiered at 10:30 PM. I really shouldn't have to detail this any further.

I mean, a remake of OOT in WW engine would be awesome, but honestly an OOT asset pack for WW is almost as cool? So thanks for making the prank not actually hurt!
Will this mod pack actually allow us to play the adventure of OoT in WW's engine through this Wind Waker Mod? Or was that just apart of the joke? If this mod really is OoT in WW's engine, that would be great! I'd really love to play this mod if that's the case. WW and OoT are two of my top favorite Zelda games! Please at least consider the possibility of making this a full mod of sorts. It doesn't have to have it's own story or anything, but I'd think it'd be nice if this was recreation of Ocarina of Time's story and adventure but since it's with Wind Waker's gameplay engine and mechanics to work with, it could be it's own take on OoT's story with Wind Waker like twists. Maybe an abridged parody version, sort of like what I believe Ura Zelda likely was going to be for OoT according to how Miyamoto described it once.

Sorry, but my HPTC console plays brand new Switch games BETTER than Nintendo’s actual hardware, and in 4K UHD and 60 FPS. I’ll just keep “emulating” them until they make a REAL CONSOLE again and not a secondary console with gimmicks like motion controls or tablet controllers.

Yeah, I’ve always wanted to play OOT, but because I was born the year it was made and I didn’t start playing games till around 2003-2004, I don’t really have any nostalgia for N64 graphics. So it’s kinda hard for me to appreciate what many consider to be the best game of all time. There’s some major limitations, due to it being a pioneer of all 3D games, and the graphical style hasn’t aged particularly well, but that said, if this game was reimagined from the ground up and they kept the story the same, but rebuilt the world of Hyrule to be more lively and populated with more things to do, plus a better art style, and more QOL improvements, then I’m sure I’d be super into it!

I hate to say this, but as much as I want a chrono trigger remake, it seems less likely to exist, but I did recall that the creator of this video might potentially make this trailer into a real mod pack that you can play, so don’t give up just yet Icarus, because potentially in a few years time it can exist, for all play mods of wind waker on pc. 😃👍

We were so mad about the art direction when Wind Waker was revealed, but damn this makes me appreciate it so much. Almost feels like OOT should have had this art style.
This music was actually composed for the Wind Waker sequel that turned into Twilight Princess. It can be heard in the 2005 E3 demo main menu. So it's literally perfect for this video.

I just now learned that Wind Waker has a modding scene. Your Vacation Link mod is incredible, a complete overhaul with that theme would be the best thing ever.

If Nintendo made a second quest for the Windwaker engine (even the GC version, so not necessarily HD) today , I'd pay full new game price for it. It's nuts that this only really happened with Majora's mask and Capcom doing the Oracle games. Great that they are utilising the BotW engine for a direct sequel however

This is beautiful. A while back, I tried making a version of Wind Waker’s Hyrule in Blender that combined the islands of the great sea with the world below. Looked kind of like this. Seeing this makes me want to finish it

This is legit man. This model for Link is immediately one of my favorites. It's such a perfect blend of OoT and WW. I'd love to actually run though these sections shown in the trailer, even if nothing really happens within them.
This just makes me want to have an overhaul of the entire LOZ franchise.

I’ve always wondered, If I were head of Nintendo, and my goal was to make as much money as possible…and crossovers like this are being made by fans… WHY WOULDN’T WE DO IT OURSELVES?
It blows my mind that Nintendo saw someone create an amazing Majora’s Mask HD trailer and they didn’t move mountains to make that happen? Can they afford it? Yes. Do we want it? Yes. Will they make millions in profit? Yes. So why won’t Nintendo do it? Because they don’t feel like it.
The longer you stick around the amazingly dedicated Nintendo homebrewing scene, the more you start to realize just how much of its best content is simply good ideas that Nintendo has decided to not do. If Nintendo simply did the things that we wanted, the homebrew scene would be basically dead.
Ideas are easy, accomplishing them is hard, Wind Waker HD sold millions and Breath of The Wild sold ten times more. The problem is that Nintendo game studios are constantly busy putting the next big thing on the shelves and it's taking them years longer than before as development times have exploded across the industry. They simply don't have the resources to follow on every good idea out there. Now of course they could outsource it, but they are extremely untrustful of licensing to other companies and those games would also be in competition with their owns as only so many major titles can enter the market at any given time.
Now that doesn't necessarily mean they won't do at least some of those ideas. They did for example a re-release of the 3D Mario trilogy that was long overdue (though it is now back into the Nintenvault) and a remake of Metroid 2 by MercurySteam. I severely doubt they'll never release again versions of OoT and MM. However releasing a proper remake like Toys for Bob did with Crash and Spyro is a full project that would take years and a large dedicated team. Again they may or may not do it in the future and have most likely already seriously considered doing it, but this is not something they can simply snap they fingers to make happen.

Wow, this is amazing, even if this will never be fully made into a mod the dedicated to this is fantastic. With all the recent work with the decomp team on oot i have seen some impressive mods with oot, i hope one day that there will be a decomp of wind waker so that we can one day take ww to its full modding potential, just imagine the possibility for a full oot mod with the ability to become adult link, it just blows my mind to think that one day it will be possible. Anyway i love the mod showcase even if it is just a concept and not going to be a full thing.
