This album wasn't recorded the same way as their prior and subsequent releases. It's always had a hollow, somewhat empty sound. I've grown to like this album the best over the last 25 years. At this point David was still drumming and they would record at the same time, in the same room. No click tracks, all feel and groove.
Thanks for the insight. I agree. And Jonathan's ghost-like vocals are the perfect touch. No other album, by any band, has this vibe. I wore this cd out as a kid. What a vibe.
Near perfect, but to be honest, the hints of the voices creeping in just makes it cooler
