One of things I love about your reactions (but nowhere near the main thing) is that you're America enough to be baffled, but also Canadian enough (which is ostensibly British) to get all the nuances. Brilliant.
I was serving in Iraq back in 2003-4 and i had Phoenix Nights posted out to me. We nicked a projector and stereo from somewhere and projected it on to the side of the building at a compound we were living at. The night Saddam Hussein's sons were cornered and eventually killed, people came out onto the streets and started to let rip with their AK's in celebration, the tracer rounds were flying all over the place, me and my mates sat there intently trying to watch the end of the episode before we were eventually forced to "Stand Too"...Great times..
I was lucky enough to get tickets for a Peter Kay stand up show a few months ago (his first tour for yearsfor years) He was fantastic and absolute genius
With the bouncy castle was when watching the audio with the cast commentary Paddy McGuinness was saying they'd tried to get it with follage, but they at Channel 4 wouldn't let them lol (they'd gone to a custom bouncy castle company to get it made).
One of the best episodes! Though always a bit weird that one of my childhood next-door neighbours showed up playing the journalist. She'd had small parts in soap operas Coronation Street and Brookside when I was still at school. Even though it was a small part, was lovely seeing her pop up years after I'd last seen her.
At 3:20 when Brian says "what theme, Hiroshima, old sh**e?" I never understood that reference as a kid until i learned that the nuclear bomb caused the shadows of the people vaporised to be permanently burned into the walls of the ruined buildings. Such a dark joke.
a great episode peter kay has pretty much retired now he shut down goodnight vienna the studio that produced phoenix nights, max & paddy, car share and did dvd for live shows a while back and asked to be removed from company register
Spoiler: The best bit is that for every episode after this the face paint of the tiger is still on his face :) ... The Bench of Death! called that cos someone died on it lol
The guy who delivered the inflatable was Bobby Ball, once part of the comedy duo Cannon and Ball, who were huge stars in their day, with their own TV show. Peter Kay also references them in Car Share
Brad and Lucy!! I'm ashamed at you showing this filth. It's a family fun day man. You can't have little kiddies running around with a giant love length disguised as inflatable filth.
One of my favourite things about this series is the fact the spray paint was permanent and young Kenny has the tiger face on all the episodes 🤣

Except the "bucket an half", ......whoooosh!! ....zzzzzzz!
I used to look forward to these every week when they came out. Good times. They dont make tv like this anymore.
Nope they certainly don't!😢
