6:25 The picture at the back, that's Cannon and Ball. Piss funny duo from the 80's & 90's. You should check them out they were so funny, especially Bobby Ball, the guy with the 'tash. One of the funniest guys ever lol.
The guy who plays Spencer (real name Daniel kitson) is considered by many, including other comedians to be the best stand up comedian of all time. But he hates fame so you will not see him on Netflix or such.his recordings of his shows are elusive but he is quite simply a genius. He even regretted playing this part in phoenix nights.but his stand up is sublime.
Daniel Kitson who plays Spencer is an interesting one. Touted by a lot of respected comedians in Britain as their favourite stand up, won numerous stand up awards all over the world at a very young age but after appearing in this despite being in demand he choose not to pursue acting on screen, even in his stand up these days he doesn't release them with lavish production or even charge anyone to listen or view them on vimeo and believes comedy should be done as a live experience and not recorded I remember listening to the commentary on the DVD of Phoenix Nights and Peter Kay was pretty annoyed during one point saying Daniel gave an interview to a newspaper where he said he hated working on Phoenix Nights and the experience must have effected him as after this he mostly just did occasional voice work.
fun fact : phoneix club was a REAL workings men club in Bolton, I used to live around the corner from it (it was shut down when i lived there, used to exist under a different name). I wouldnt recommend visiting Bolton.
I once went out with a girl from Leeds in the early 70s and one time when I visited her, the people she lived with (she rented a room) took us down to the local Working Men's Club. It was a real eye opener for a young 19 year old southerner seeing and hearing what went on that night, although by the time they "made me" drink copious amounts of beer, most of it was a fog. The people in this show are just stereotypical of those times.
@@bradlucy How awesome are you guys??? your timing perfection 23.24 i'm almost there and its nearly over thank christ. Btw i'm in tears of joy to get a like nevermind a reply were homies for life. Amazing job on the coretto trill ya cheered a sad uk girl up and it was wonderful & forever in you're debt xox
No idea why people miss -- police probe Leeds girls snatch. The first time I heard that I had to go get myself a drink of water just so I could spit it out.
Hey you two 👍if your intros were not improv they'd only be half as good, brilliant laugh and DSS=Department for social security and since 2001 is now known as DWP Department for work and pentions. Love the t shirts 🤣✌️🍻
Yer they used to pay employers money to take people off the dole. The dole people got the same with the hope of a real job,The employers got free labour. lol I didn't work.
Bloody hell, you can only dream of paying £1.20 for a pint these days.
I think it's fantastic how you Canadians connect with our sense of humour.
"You'll have another Rodney King on your hands" 😂 that line kills me, easily one of the funniest shows ever.

Great reaction videos. You both completely get British comedy and humour.
Thank you so much 😁
The face paint was car paint spray, that’s why he had it covered for the tv scene

picture behind him at 6:45 is Cannon and Ball. They had a movie in the 60s (or 70s?) and everything.
Spencer is played by Daniel Kitson, an absolutely brilliant and underrated comedian. If you get chance you should watch some of his standup stuff.
Can't wait for you to do the next episode. You are gonna love it.
The Bee Gees reference is when they worked off Clive Anderson.
The Phoenix Club burned down and then rose from the Ashes!! GeDDiT!?

Premature what? A wizard always arrives precisely when he means to Frodo Baggins !
🤣🤣🤣
DSS stands for Department of Social Security
I dope you get a chance to watch, 'I'm Alan Partridge' two great seasons
The DSS is the Department for Social Security or Social Services.
Comedy gold.
Just started watching. The laugh at the beginning sounds like The Gorillaz song Feel Good Inc at the beginning of their song.
This show is a lot funnier if you are from the UK and have actually been to places similar to this.
Young Kenny doesn’t wear the tiger paint all season. Does that help?
