Another important thing to note is how certain companies reaching out to an artist for a placement deal will sometimes request a different version of the track that would be ideal for the ad. I've heard of some requesting instrumentals, or even requesting that certain elements be louder or quieter. This is why it's important to ensure you have stems and multitracks (something i gotta do more of myself) or else you could lose out on a good paycheck 😩😅
Bruhhh when I hyu about that & u said “oh yea & coi leray’s in it too” I thought u was trollin me😭 what an honor dude happy 4u! Excited 2 hear the album too manee
I plan on releasing a lot more in 2025 since i've got a good chunk of bootlegs and remixes ready to go that i've been testing out in DJ sets for the past year and a half. One of my goals is to keep working on originals and i'd like to put out an album too. Would be better for potential sync placements if i can get an original track chosen for it
I am not nearly far along enough to be taking much away from this, but your content really does get me working on my own music with intention - keep it up dude!
i didnt know who you were but i looked you up on spotify and realized i had multiple songs of yours saved from 2019, back before i ever made music, what an inspiration this video is. and what a throwback those were some bangers. ill def check out the album tonight and congrats on the commercial!
Great vid, appreciate the insight! Do you know of anyone who's tried to "snipe" those sync briefs, like making a song in a day to fit a brief like "Song about 'New Start'"?
i bet a lot of artists do that, it hasnt really been my approach. the bigger issue is the timeline can be really short, like 24-48 hours. so you gotta get RIGHT to work haha
I work at a company that basically specializes in "sniping" sync briefs. As well as songs that wouldn't exist without the commercial, like Will Farrell singing "I wanna pay with you everywhere" for PayPal. And yes, the turnarounds are often just a couple days. Some companies that do this are MassiveMusic, Siren UK, The Elements Music...
its funny i said id never done this and then on tuesday i got a super quick opportunity that i ended up knocking out. something similar - a song that wouldn't exist without a commercial. let's hope i get it hahah
I'm kind of worried because I realized lately that the songs i currently have out on streaming platforms, i put the copyright/publishing credits under an unofficial record label i coined back in 2020, just as a way to house various different music projects under. A couple others, i put down the music collectives i released them on at the time of their release dates. When it comes to BMI though, I have all those songs registered under my name. So if i were to get a sync placement, would this end up screwing me over? Or would i just have to let them know that i'm the rightful owner of my tracks and it'll be fine?

yep. they asked me for stems! and they did rearrange a lot of stuff
@ good to know! Did you just send it in a .zip file or was there a specific way they preferred you send it (Dropbox, perhaps)?

@@snapblue1396 That's really interesting, are there positions for songwriters at those companies or is it basically marketing teams + chatgpt?

yo you have nothing to be worried about as long as you're the only person who would have a claim to those different entities!
